This short meditation is an invitation to pause when rest alone hasn’t been enough. Rather than aiming for calm, the practice focuses on noticing support, presence, and safety in the body; one small moment at a time. It’s designed for people who feel depleted, overwhelmed, or on edge, and who may find traditional relaxation practices unhelpful. You’re welcome to meet this practice exactly as you are.

Greetings and welcome,

My name is Crystal and I will be guiding you today through a mini meditation for when rest isn't enough.

You don't need to change anything about your breath for this practice.

You don't need to empty your mind or do this correctly.

If it feels comfortable,

Begin by noticing where your body is supported right now.

The chair beneath you,

The floor,

Something holding your weight.

Let yourself register that support,

Not intellectually,

But physically.

Feeling that support with your whole body.

Take a slow breath in through your nose and an even longer breath out through your mouth.

Again,

There is no fixing,

Just noticing.

Gently bring your attention to one place in your body that feels neutral or steady.

It might be your feet,

Your hands,

Maybe the back against the chair.

Not looking for calm,

But looking for present.

The present moment.

As you stay here,

You might notice thoughts about rest.

What you should be doing,

How tired you are,

Or what still needs your attention.

If that happens,

See if you can quietly name it,

Thinking,

And then return to the place of support you choose.

For the next few breaths,

Allow yourself to experiment with this idea.

The idea that rest doesn't have to mean stopping everything.

Sometimes rest is letting the body know it doesn't have to be on high alert right now.

Take a slow breath in and exhale fully out the mouth.

If it feels okay,

Gently orient to the space around you.

Notice one sound.

Notice one color.

Notice one sensation of contact.

This is your nervous system gathering information that you are here.

And that at least in this moment,

You are safe enough.

Before we close,

I'll invite you to silently ask yourself,

What kind of care would actually meet me right now?

You don't need to answer.

Just the question is enough.

When you are ready and when the body is ready,

Allow your eyes to open or your attention to shift.

I'll encourage you to carry this sense of support with you,

Knowing that you can return to it in small moments throughout the day.

Take good,

Good care.
