Welcome to this practice where we will focus on mindful listening without interrupting or fixing.
Take a comfortable seat,
Close your eyes and begin to focus on your breath.
Inhaling deeply and exhaling fully.
This practice will help you cultivate mindful listening with your children.
Tuning into their words and deepening your connection and relationship together.
Imagine a conversation with your child.
And as you listen,
Focus on being fully present.
Feel your attention shift away from any impulse to fix or interrupt.
And notice what it's like to fully tune into them.
To hear their voice.
To see them speaking.
To sense the energy they bring to your conversation.
Instead of planning your response,
Simply listen with an open heart and mind.
Notice the words your child speaks and the tone and the emotions behind their words.
Let go of any urge to offer advice or solutions immediately.
Take a deep breath and just be with them in that moment.
Showing up as a compassionate listener and offering them your full presence.
Begin to bring yourself back.
Taking a long,
Slow inhale and a long,
Slow exhale.
Gently moving and stretching your body and mindfully transitioning back into your day.
Thank you for your practice.
