In this session, we use the visualization of a foundation to break apart your foundational self and then rebuild it in a way that supports your growth and development as a human. This is a version of a live session we did here at Insight Timer, widely praised for its guidance and revelations.

Welcome to your session today.

My name is Shanna Moyer and I have the pleasure of leading you through this session designed to help you break down and rebuild your foundational self.

As you sink into your body and your breath today,

I invite you to listen to what it is that you need.

Pay attention to what your body is saying to you right now,

Here in this moment.

If you feel that sitting upright and alert on a meditation cushion or yoga block is what you need today to feel supported and grounded,

Present and aware,

You are welcome to do so.

If your body is very simply asking for you to rest,

That's okay too.

Please listen to what your body needs.

When we do,

We get more out of our meditation practice.

When you feel ready,

I invite you to close the windows of your eyes.

Tune into your breath.

Breathing down into the base of your spine.

Today's session will involve a little bit of breath work to get grounded and centered at the beginning.

And then we will go into a space of visualization.

I recommend after this session,

You do some journaling.

Write out what you saw,

How it felt,

What you noticed as you made your way through your own individual foundation.

Taking a big breath in and out.

Allowing yourself to arrive into that beautiful body of yours.

And then little by little,

Starting to bring to mind your foundation.

What I mean by that is the core of your being,

Who you are,

What you have built your life as it has existed for you.

What does that look like?

Allow it to materialize there in front of you.

Recognizing what it's made of.

How many layers there are.

If there are memories etched in its surface.

How does your foundation of self present itself to you?

Now I mentioned that we will be rebuilding this foundation down on your right hand.

There is a tool to break apart your foundation.

Perhaps there are things in the foundation,

Imperfections that don't feel good.

Maybe the entire foundation isn't where you want to stand.

This is your opportunity to break it apart.

Perhaps it's a hammer and a chisel.

Maybe it's a shovel.

Even still it could be a sledgehammer.

Or maybe it's just your two hands.

Whatever is there down on your right hand side,

I invite you to pick that up.

And motion by motion,

I invite you to start to break apart your foundation.

Every moment you touch the surface has meaning.

Take your time with this.

If you need to pause the recording,

That is okay.

Breaking it apart,

Letting it rubble and crumble and make a beautiful chaotic mess there on the ground.

When it feels as though you have broken enough of it,

That it feels like you have no more work left to do in the dismantling of your foundation,

I invite you to take a step back and look at the mess that you have created.

There's purpose here.

There's empowerment here.

Taking a look at it and noticing how different you feel inside,

Having broken it apart.

Big,

Deep,

Nurturing,

Comforting,

Compassionate breath in and out.

Now over on your left hand side,

There are a variety of materials that you can choose from to rebuild your foundation.

Think about how you want to proceed in life.

Where do you want to go?

What are the goals that you have for yourself?

These materials are supportive of all of that.

There are bricks and tiles,

Wooden planks,

Tiny slivers of shims,

And organic compounds like moss and grass.

Whatever feels intuitively best and most nurturing and supportive for you,

I invite you to pick up those materials and start very slowly,

Delicately and mindfully placing them in the broken spaces of your foundation.

Take your time with this.

Again,

If you need to pause the recording,

That is perfectly okay.

Working with these beautiful materials,

Mindfully and carefully selecting where they go.

How will they support your own individual growth as you move forward through life?

When it feels as though you have rebuilt your foundation fully and completely,

Or now,

Recognizing that this is an evolutionary process,

You can come back here and tear it down and rebuild it as many times as you need to with every new phase of life.

Today,

We recognize the work that we have done here.

We take a step back.

We sink our breath into our foundation and maybe placing hands over heart if that feels good and nurturing to you.

Sealing in your practice for today and knowing that you can come back here as many times as you need to.

When you feel ready,

Starting to bring your awareness back into your body,

Wiggling fingers and toes,

Maybe a full body stretch if that feels supportive today,

And opening the windows of your eyes.

At this time,

I would encourage you to journal.

What did your foundation look like when you first arrived?

How did it feel to break it apart?

What tools did you use in the dismantling?

And what materials did you choose in the rebuilding?

Notice how you feel and repeat this as many times as you need to.

This was excellent. I am sitting in the yoga room in the Indira Ghandi Airport after 14.5hrs on the plane from Vancouver. I’m en route to trek to Annapurna Base Camp with a number of fellow women hikers. This mediation is one I will listen to again on my trip. Thank you šŸ™šŸ¼
