Why Your Growth Is Stagnant
by Thanet Taout
Today Cosmic talks about "Why Your Growth is Stagnant." The reasons this happens are from routines, close-mindedness, lack of exploration, forgetting to have fun, lack of balance, spiritual ego and etc. If you're ready to see how you can get your life flowing again, enjoy today's talk.

Hello my brothers and sisters,
I am your brother Simply Cosmic,
Back with another talk.
I hope you've been enjoying the content we've been expressing.
Today we're going to talk about why our growth may be stagnant.
On this spiritual journey,
On this journey called life,
Oftentimes we want to feel like we're progressing.
Oftentimes we feel lost.
We may feel stuck.
Lack of passion.
Lack of inspiration resulting in the feeling of stagnant energy,
Some people call it the writer's block,
A creative block,
Chakra blockage,
Energy blockage.
We all experience this stagnant energy quite often.
Life we don't see why is the reason that we are stagnant and today we're going to touch on some of these reasons and points.
So the number one reason why we become stagnant,
The one that's like no brainer,
Is called we get stuck in a routine.
We're too comfortable.
When we get in a routine we don't grow because we're like we have the system and we have everything planned out so much that we're not growing in our routine.
Now having a routine creates beautiful discipline but does not always result in authentic fulfilling growth.
We may get things done that we're not growing,
That we're getting things done though.
We take the same path to work,
Go eat at the same spot,
Talk with the same people,
Make the same music,
Watch the same channel,
Meditate the same way,
Meditate in the same place.
When we get into doing the same thing,
Now if we're doing the same thing and we feel authentic genuine progress,
That means something is working out.
Because this works out maybe in the first two,
Three to five years of your spiritual discipline but really it's about three years.
After three years or after a year,
Evaluate your life.
Am I feeling genuine progress in my meditation?
Is there something more?
And it brings to mind like the Buddha had meditation teachers that he studied with.
He studied with different paths but in his intuition he felt there has to be more.
There's gotta be something beyond what I'm experiencing but that has to come from our heart because if we feel like we're moving forward,
We don't need to contemplate that.
But when we start to ask that question,
That means we're already getting stagnant.
So be aware of your routine,
The way you meditate,
Even the way you work out,
Your diet.
Be aware of your body's progress.
Be aware,
Be willing to adjust your routine.
Fast towards following what feels the best,
Not what you think is best for you.
Because often times what we think we want isn't always what we need.
So check the routine.
Another reason why our growth becomes stagnant is called closed mindedness.
We are so stuck in our routine that we think this is the only way.
Pranic healing is the only way.
My religion is the only way I know enough already.
There's no more.
I know all about it already.
We have to be willing to open our minds to allow the growth.
It's like whenever the plant grows into its little pot,
We have to transfer this little plant into a larger pot to expand.
And sometimes we have transferred from this little pot to a medium size and we move from that medium size to a larger pot and we think,
Damn,
We are in a big pot.
This is it.
And then your intuition goes,
Why don't you plant yourself in the forest with no container?
And then you're like,
But what I have is good already.
Because the mind sometimes needs to,
We need to oftentimes check our ego and our closed mindedness.
When we get too comfortable in our routine,
When we listen to the same type of music,
We don't try listening to a little dubstep,
Trying listening to some Tibetan music or listening to rap music just to expand our mind because we know who we are too well.
Keep expanding your mind.
Be willing to try new things.
Which brings us to the next point.
Another reason we stunt our growth is the lack of exploration and trying new things and angles.
This is a big one.
When we get too comfortable in our community,
We have to evaluate,
Are we authentically growing?
Is our community about expanding or is it a routine and traditional environment?
Because oftentimes we love our community,
But our community may be in a medium sized pot,
For us to grow we have to detach from our community and keep growing to find something beyond.
Sometimes you want to try a new yoga teacher because we don't want to get stuck in doing the same thing from the lack of exploration.
Sometimes you want to try different incense,
Different candles,
Different places to meditate.
Sometimes you want to try group meditation.
Sometimes you want to meditate with religious people.
Sometimes you want to meditate with spiritual people.
Sometimes you want to sit in the most randomest place and try meditation.
Sometimes maybe you want to take a break from yoga and try working out more.
Sometimes you want to try doing yoga at the gym.
Sometimes you want to try yoga on YouTube.
Sometimes you want to take a break from yoga to see where else you can grow.
We have to be willing to try new angles of approach,
New things,
New restaurants because we may meet the next journey.
We may attract the new explorers.
We may find something we've been looking for,
But if you keep staying in the same bubble,
The same yoga teacher,
The same,
The same,
The same,
And we're not feeling like we're growing,
We must try new things.
We're not saying quit what you're doing.
We have to try a little new thing.
But if where you're at,
You feel like you're growing,
You still want to try some new things.
You know,
I mean,
Vanilla is good,
But chocolate is sexy.
And when you think chocolate is sexy,
You try some rocky road and you thought rocky road was sexy,
Then you are presented with the waffle cone.
And when you think the waffle cone is sexy,
You meet the chocolate dip waffle bowl and you're like,
No way.
And then we think that is amazing.
You drizzle some chocolate syrup on top,
A little chocolate chip,
A little almond,
And then you realize,
Ah,
The amazingness can only get better if we open our minds.
Don't get too hungry,
Okay?
The next reason why your growth becomes stagnant,
I love this one.
Forgetting to have fun.
When you have fun,
It brings a lot more energy.
We're not saying you have to get high doing yoga or meditation.
We have to find things we enjoy doing.
When we enjoy,
It brings love and harmony.
Some things we're not going to enjoy and it brings us growth.
But at least make sure that there's love behind.
If you're not enjoying something,
Know that you're doing it from growth,
Not just misery.
There has to be an awareness that you're growing,
That you're doing the work.
And sometimes we have to do things we don't like to grow.
But we're not always doing that kind of stuff.
So watch out for getting too comfortable that you're not engaged,
That you're not having fun,
That maybe the meditation group you're going to is not as fun.
Bring a singing bowl next time.
Bring new incense.
Sit on a cushion.
Sit on the ground.
Have fun.
Bring ice cream.
Bring tea.
Whatever it takes to bring about this newness that brings the fun,
Brings the joy in the practice of spiritual evolution and growth.
Because the kids have fun.
We can have fun too.
Next reason why our growth may be stagnant,
The lack of balance.
This is a big one that's,
Let's see if we can express it in a clear way.
Sometimes we are too yin and not yang enough,
That we have a masculine and a feminine side to all of us.
And that we have chosen to lean on one side more instead of learning to use the masculine and feminine.
We identify to be one more than the other,
That we limit ourselves.
So when we talk about feminine and masculine,
Feminine is patient,
Loving,
Calm,
Cool,
Respectful,
In harmony,
Well harmony is both.
Let's just say it's patience and the yang,
The fire,
The do it,
The passion,
The being expressive,
The boundaries,
Learning to say no to people,
Learning to stand up for what you believe in.
Sometimes we're so comfortable with positive vibes only that we pretend that negative isn't there.
And sometimes we're so into working out and because we want to get gains that we forget to meditate,
That we forget to do a little yoga,
That we forget to do a little self-care because we are so yang.
So we have the yin and yang and oftentimes we choose to identify with I am a feminine man,
I am a masculine woman or I am a masculine man,
You are a feminine lady.
Every human being has both masculine and feminine and instead of identifying as one,
When we realize we have both and we harmonize those two,
We get to use masculine and feminine instead of letting the energy use us.
When somebody is abusing us to get a car ride for money,
Masculine energy tells us I love you but I have to say no this time so that you can find out how you can get your money,
So that you can get a job.
So that I'm going to stop spoiling you so that you can find out how to do it on your own because I love you so much.
When the feminine side goes I know you're in your head,
I'm here to support you.
Whatever I know you're in pain,
I'm here to listen to you,
I'm here to respect you.
I know that you're in your head,
Let's just go for a walk and relax.
You need a hug,
You give them a hug because sometimes you need to be more gentle and loving.
But when we identify as one or the other,
When we're too nice people abuse us,
When we're too firm people think people can't deal with it.
So you have to choose what,
You have to choose the energy you want to express in a certain environment to live your life effectively and not get stuck in one or the other to bring more harmony to yourself and to your duty in life.
Next reason why your growth may be stagnant,
This is a big one.
Hanging around people who are too comfortable.
When you hang around a bunch of people who have chosen to stay in the little pot instead of growing to the medium size,
To the larger pot,
To the greenhouse and then into the forest they just stay,
You know what,
I have grown into medium size.
When you hang around medium size growth people,
You get stuck in that vibration and these people you call your best friend,
These people you call your family,
You love them but they hanging around them will limit your growth because that's the best they know because they're looking to grow but they say this is enough growth,
They limit their growth because they say this is enough,
No need to give.
Growth is infinite when we're dealing on a more spiritual level.
And even on a career level growth is infinite so growth you can just stop growing and sometimes the leaves fall but the roots can get bigger and you can grow to become a giant mighty oak,
A giant tree in the Amazon.
But when we stay stuck in a little pot hanging around people who are in a little pot,
When you hang around people who smoke weed,
You get stuck smoking weed instead of learning to be the substance that you're looking for.
Instead of being a change,
We get stuck in routine hanging around with other people who are routine.
Nothing wrong with hanging out with people who are routine but be highly selective because if people are not progressing in their life and you're hanging out with them,
You get stuck too.
When people are negative and you hang out with them,
You get stuck in negativity.
So learn to let go of friends who drink all the damn time so that you can find higher quality.
If you're hanging out with friends who hang out at the bar and the club too much,
When will you progress?
By letting go of going to the bar and club,
Detach from some friendships to find a high vibration one,
Finding friends who have a vision,
Who's looking to grow,
Who's looking to expand and the quality will be few.
As quality gets higher,
The quantity will be lower.
When there's lower quality,
The quantity will be higher.
There's a lot of lazy people.
The world changers are few but they can help so many people to be highly selective,
Not hanging out with people who are too comfortable.
We have a couple more,
Two more.
Why your growth is stagnant.
This is one that many people do not want to hear about.
Ego,
Thinking we have already reached enlightenment,
That we're there already,
That you are the Buddha.
You have reached Christ conscious level.
You have reached the full capacity.
Being about positive vibes and love only mindset.
This is spiritual ego because all of these perceptions come from a limiting thing called the mind.
The mind has no idea what's infinite potential because the mind is the ego and it will eventually die one day.
So there's a limitation that we have on the mind.
When we think we have reached enlightenment,
I am Buddha.
Well that is a mindset because the Buddha nature doesn't limit itself by saying I am Buddha.
The Buddha nature says I am nothing and even nothingness is an ego.
So that's why we just say nothing.
I am that I am.
Because when we say nothing,
We're present with this infinite potential that allows us to have no walls,
No limitation.
And getting stuck in a mindset that being spiritual is about being positive vibes only is toxically being yin,
Yin,
Right?
Yin is too cool,
Too calm.
Positive vibes only.
Sometimes we become so about positive vibes only,
We don't know how to say no to people.
And when we say no,
We wait for it to get so toxic and poisonous that we say,
Okay,
This is enough.
Enough is enough.
You wait for it to get to.
When you become balanced,
When you're looking to grow,
You start to see,
Oh,
I'm too positively leaning.
Because sometimes it takes embracing the negatives of life because we learn from mistakes.
That when we be about positive vibes only,
We pretend sometimes the negative isn't there because we have created this mindset of delusion.
Seeing what we want to see instead of what we need to see,
Which brings us to the next point called ignorance.
Seeing what we want to see and not willing to see other perspective,
The positive vibes only,
Or seeing from just your,
My view only,
Instead of being open and putting yourself in other people's shoe to see what you can grow,
Be willing to see from other people's mistakes so that you don't learn when people make mistakes.
Oh,
That's their problem,
Not mine.
Be willing to expand because everyone is your brother and sister and recognizing that sometimes we have ignorance.
What is ignorance?
We don't know the things that we don't know.
It's hard to awaken if we have a closed mind,
But when we have ignorance,
We simply don't know.
We have to be willing to see what are they expressing,
Why they're expressing.
We have to be willing to see both sides.
It's called compassion,
Understanding people's suffering.
Ignorance just doesn't want to see it.
Why?
It's attached to who they are,
What they are,
And the ego.
Not willing to see other perspective and the lack of discernment to stay loving and humble.
Discernment is seeing between the lines because sometimes when we live a routine life,
When we act spiritual,
We don't know it,
But we have to see all these people are spiritual,
But then why do they have?
Why do they all have?
Why are they unhappy?
Why do they need to do so much mushrooms?
Why do they need to smoke a lot of weed to be happy?
And there are people out there who don't need this.
Then how come this group needs it?
We start to use discernment to see the truth of what it means to be spiritual.
Being spiritual is more about genuine love than anything else.
Than acting spiritual,
Than knowing about the chakra system,
Than knowing all the asanas,
Than doing yoga moves.
It's about genuine love for who you are first.
That we can be so much about spiritual concepts that we're missing authentic power,
Which limits our growth.

Very modern tone that I like. One critique is that there's light feedback in my earphones whenever the recording is stopped or started,. And so there is a jarring feeling in between the sentences at times
