#2 Experiencing Mindfulness: A Guide To The Moment
by Thanet Taout
Mystic Thanet talks about being in the present moment, and expresses practical ways to practice mindfulness. Being mindful helps us to notice the deep emotions and little details of the moment. Deep awareness helps us to feel connected to everything around us but more importantly our self.

Namaste my brothers and sisters.
I am your brother,
Mystic Tanet,
Back again in a long,
Long time.
While I was away,
I would like to let you know that I was a Buddhist monk for two months,
Or to be more accurate,
72 days.
It was an amazing journey and I continue to walk with the vows of a Bodhisattva to be a lightworker,
And to give all of my life to that cause.
I'm figuring out the balance in doing the healing work,
And looking for ways to cultivate my life and business and career.
I feel this is where my heart is headed,
Either YouTube or Insight Timer.
Today,
The talk that's been in my heart,
The talk that the universe has stirred up for me,
Is called the talk of mindfulness.
Right now,
I'm at the Temple Truk Lam Meditation Center in Houston,
Texas,
In a beautiful garden.
A great place to talk about mindfulness.
When we talk about mindfulness,
Let me show you how to experience mindfulness,
If that's proper.
I'm walking,
I feel my breath,
I know that I'm breathing in,
And I know that I'm breathing out.
I hear the leaves,
The bamboo,
Ruffling in the wind.
Breathing in,
I know that I'm breathing in.
Breathing out,
I know I'm breathing out.
It is January 29th,
2020,
And my alarm clock has just rang.
It's six o'clock.
I'm mindful of all these things happening.
The temperature is cool.
I have to wear a beanie to keep myself warm.
I'm narrating the moment,
Because I'm aware of the moment.
I'm aware you are mindful.
So mindfulness is really deep awareness of the moment.
But it's not just external of you.
I'm mindful that I'm feeling peaceful.
I feel clear.
My mind is clear.
I'm speaking gently,
I'm mindful of the voice that I'm speaking,
The tone of voice.
I'm walking at a slow pace.
I'm mindful of each step.
But I'm not doing this,
I'm not over focusing because I'm super mindful.
It's gentle.
Gentle and flow.
Yes,
You can be mindful and really focused.
But why make mindfulness so serious?
Make mindfulness relaxing.
Mindfulness allows us to experience meditation without having to sit down.
When we become aware of the moment,
That is actually meditation.
But now how deep you become aware of the moment is up to you.
That's why they have deep meditative practices.
That's why we have beginner levels.
But at the end of the day they all lead to the same place,
The moment.
And so,
Yes,
It seems all easy and simple,
Right?
Be in the moment.
A lot of people think,
Oh,
That's so cliché like a poster board you buy in Marshalls or something you see at like Michael's.
Be in the moment.
But for real.
You know there's 24 hours in a day.
Most of us spend that time working,
Driving,
On the phone,
On TV,
On Netflix,
On the phone.
But when do we ever slow down and see the leaves are moving in the wind gently,
Really gently.
The sun is setting and it's really cloudy so you just see a tiny bit amount of sunshine.
When do we take our time to notice the moment?
In the beginning it's quite hard because we're so not used to being present throughout the day.
Why?
Because it's actually that hard.
It's so simple that it's actually really hard.
Just imagine throughout your day you're mindful when you're at your office.
You're mindful that there's a really angry person and grumpy person next to you and you know to keep your distance from negative people.
You're driving and you see a car coming right behind you.
They're driving 85 miles per hour and you're driving about 70 and this person is jetting faster and faster.
You have to be mindful to not move lanes because if you do you could potentially get into an accident.
When you become mindful in family,
Children,
Children.
When a child is really hyper,
Really like a child is naturally energetic.
You have to become mindful that you need to take the child outside more.
Be mindful that if the kid has more energy you need to have a place where the child is going to spend his energy working out,
Running.
Because if he is inside with all this energy he is going to cause or she is going to cause a lot of chaos.
But now what if that baby turns into an adult baby?
Then we have a whiner.
People who complain all day,
It's because they're not mindful that complaining doesn't actually make their life better because they're not present.
If we're mindful like,
Okay right now I just want to be happy.
I'm mindful that I just want to be happy and I'm complaining.
If I complain all the time,
How can I be happy?
So when you do the work of meditation,
When you do the work of breathing,
When you do the work of mindfulness,
When you do the work of noticing and being aware of your surrounding,
Your environment,
The people in those environments,
The things in the environment,
The internal environment,
Internal in your mind,
Internal in your soul and spirit that's more advanced if you don't know what the heck that is.
Just stick to what you know,
Your mind.
When we talk about mindfulness,
The Buddha is really a great representation of mindfulness because.
.
.
When we talk about the Buddha,
This Buddha I'm talking about is not in the sky.
Even the Buddha himself says,
The way is not in the sky.
The way is in your heart.
But now,
If you're constantly looking out at the sky,
Looking out at the shopping,
Looking out to go party,
Looking out for happiness,
Looking out for joy,
Looking out for sex,
Looking out for whatever.
When do we become aware,
When do we become mindful that the place to look at is not out but within?
When do we become aware that going within is the way?
Before we can be really mindful throughout our day,
We have to be really disconnected.
Most people won't be interested in meditation.
Most people won't be interested in mindfulness if their life is okay.
But now,
If you're a person who's in your head a lot,
If you're a person who think a lot,
Analytical,
Super analytical,
Super.
.
.
You don't even know what the moment is.
You don't see the bamboo in front of you.
You don't see the shadow from the sun that the tree is making.
You don't see that you're alive right now.
All you are doing is analyzing what is the best next survival move and that's called ego.
The ego just wants to survive.
The ego just wants you to not die.
But right now,
We're in so much abundance.
We have enough food to eat.
We have shelter,
Most of us.
We have all that we need.
Why are we still unhappy?
Most people don't ever ask that question because if you actually get to that question,
You might actually find an answer.
Because imagine you have everything your mind needs but why does.
.
.
You have your job,
You have a house,
You have a car,
You have money.
But why are you still not really happy?
And then you think something is wrong and then you go out and party and do drugs and then you don't find what you're really looking for.
When we become mindful where happiness actually comes from,
We start to really enjoy meditation.
We start to really enjoy being present.
Because when we become mindful of energy that in a moment is where everything is.
Every feeling is in the moment.
So when you're complaining and you feel bad,
You're making a choice to complain whether you realize it or not and you're inviting that negative energy.
But wait,
There's more.
You can actually choose a positive feeling if you're mindful that you always have a choice to choose positive or negative emotion.
Somebody just cuts you off.
Most people who aren't mindful that they want to be happy,
Let me repeat that.
When somebody cuts somebody off and that person is not mindful,
They will instantly complain and yell because I used to do the exact same thing.
But when you're mindful that you have a choice,
You're like,
That's not even worth my emotion.
I want to stay present and happy.
But before I could get to that point of realization that I could choose happiness,
I had to do it for a long enough time.
In the beginning,
I would start being mindful and I would enjoy but then I would stop doing it.
Because the mind is like,
What do you get from just being present all the time?
I want to play games on my phone.
I want to be on Facebook a lot.
I want to play video games.
I want to talk about a bunch of stuff.
I want to watch TV.
I didn't realize all those things were distractions from me being present in the moment.
Because I didn't have a desire to constantly be mindful in my life.
But when I found wisdom,
When I had my awakening,
When I awake,
When I experienced light in my body,
To say the least.
I realized that,
Wow,
I have this thing called the moment that I didn't see before.
And everything is in this moment.
Every emotion,
Every thought,
Everything is here now.
Yes,
Sometimes I do need to use my mind.
I do need to think.
But if I overthink and I forget,
I may be thinking the rest of my day and disconnected.
And right before I go to bed,
I will be on my phone because I will continue being disconnected throughout my day.
So when I began to commit to meditation and to a practice of mindfulness,
A practice of being present continually,
Consistently,
And enjoy being mindful,
My life began to change.
Because you can be present,
But not enjoying it.
You make it a chore.
But when you start to mature spiritually,
When your practice starts to mature,
When your mindfulness starts to mature,
Your light begins to get real bright.
People see something within you,
But the truth is that you already see and know the light within your heart.
And you know that it wasn't by accident.
You know that it was your duty.
You know that it was your work.
You know that you took the effort to cultivate this thing called being in a moment.
The thing that most people see as cliché,
Like a Reddit spiritual thing or Instagram inspiration,
Being in a moment.
But the truth is that when you actually become mindful and present in a moment on a consistent basis,
Your life will change,
More positive.
Because when you're not present,
You're in your mind.
And when you're in your mind,
You're always tired and it's tiring to always be in the mind.
It's tiring to always be thinking.
So today I invite you to see what it's like to spend your time in a moment and commit to the moment and to feel connected to everything simply by being present.
And this is the end of the talk.
I want to say thank you to all my brothers and sisters that listened to today.
I hope you enjoyed the talk of mindfulness.
I hope you enjoy the energy that I'm expressing.
It's just love from my heart.
I didn't really plan this talk,
But it's just intuitive from my heart because I have a desire to help people.
And if you want to invest or support me,
You're welcome to donate and you're welcome to share and you're welcome to leave a comment.
This is my job now.
I'm basically at the temple.
I'm at the temple almost all the time now cultivating this energy of love and mindfulness.
And I'm being prepared to spread this love and this is one way to.
.
.
Anyways,
I am your brother Mystic Tenet,
Bowing to the Buddhas,
Bodhisattvas,
Christ-being angels,
Shamans of the world.
And I feel and we feel that all is one.
Namaste.

I enjoy the message and style. I liked the gentle words explaining the ego's job, as not bad, but a protector of one's body. Thank you so much.
