Are you ready to meditate with Cori?

Get comfortable in your bed,

Turn down the lights,

Make sure that you've got your fuzzy blanket or a nice stuffed teddy that you can cuddle and relax in too.

Tucker and Leo were staying with their babysitter for the weekend.

Their babysitter was called Lisa and Lisa was really sweet and kind and they liked her a lot.

Lisa had stayed with them overnight before so they were already really used to her being around the house and who she was and they felt really comfortable with her.

And the funny thing about Lisa was she had an obsession with tigers so she always dressed like a cat which Tucker really liked because Tucker just wanted to chew on her and lick her all the time because you know cats are so tasty.

Even though he had cat friends and he knew he couldn't eat his cat friends he still liked to try and have a nibble at her toes now and again or chew on her sleeves when she walked by.

She liked to wear cat ears all the time.

It was a headband and sometimes she would put it on Tucker and Tucker would pretend he was a cat.

Look at me Leo I'm a cat.

I've always wanted to be a cat.

I think cats are really nice.

They're so tasty and they're so yummy but they're also so nice and sometimes they're really smart.

Have you noticed that some cats are so smart Leo?

They're so smart.

Leo said I don't want to be a cat.

Don't come near me with those things.

Leo really liked having Lisa around because she seemed to just get him and Tucker loved her because she was also a bit crazy so it worked for both of them.

Lisa was on the big comfy chair in the living room and she was writing in a book.

Tucker went over and asked her what she was doing.

Lisa what are you doing in your book?

I've noticed you've been writing in that book for half an hour now and I'm like shall we play?

Shall we play a game?

Shall we watch a movie?

Shall we make some popcorn?

I really like popcorn Lisa.

You know how much me and Leo both like,

Well actually no Leo doesn't like popcorn because sometimes it gets stuck in the back of his throat and then he like coughs a lot and then it gets stuck in his teeth and he wants to brush his teeth all the time and he's like yeah it's too much trouble for Leo to eat popcorn.

But I really like popcorn.

I like sweet popcorn and I like that salty popcorn.

What's your favourite popcorn Leo?

Leo?

No not Leo.

Leo?

No.

No Leo.

I know.

Yes I know Leo.

I know you like marshmallows instead.

But marshmallows have got nothing to do with popcorn.

Anyway Lisa what's your favourite popcorn?

What flavour do you like the bestest?

Lisa said she liked the sweet popcorn the bestest.

Tucker said oh yeah that's a really good popcorn.

I like that popcorn so much.

Yes it's so nice.

Anyway shall we make popcorn?

Lisa said well actually Tucker give me a while because I'm journaling right now.

Tucker said journaling?

What's that mean?

Is that mean like when you're juggling?

You know like when you grab hold of a pen and you stick it between your paws and then you doodle like little pictures and stories and twirly things and flowers and all that stuff.

I watch Mummy doodle all the time.

She doodles and she said one time that she was doogling.

Look at all my doogles she said and I was like oh there's some pretty doodles.

Those Mummy.

And then is that a doogle?

Lisa said no no I'm journaling not doodling.

Journaling is when you write things down about your inner feelings.

So you have a special book and a pen and you just kind of sit there and you say today I feel like or today was a good day because or today was a bad day because.

Leo said I think I would like to journal.

It would probably be something that I would be good at because it looks as if it's quite relaxing and calming and you get out all your feelings and that would probably be good with all my nervousness and my anxiety to be good to just get my worries out.

Lisa said yes exactly Leo but tonight I'm actually journaling about New Year.

I'm thinking about my New Year's resolutions.

Tucker said what on earth is your resolution?

Lisa said resolution.

Resolution.

It's when you kind of declare that you're going to start something new in the New Year or you're going to create a new habit or you're going to stop doing something that's not good for you.

Or maybe you're going to stop doing something that's new and exciting.

It's when you decide that on January the 1st New Year's Day is the beginning of a new chapter and that's when you would say okay from now on I'm going to exercise three times a week or from now on I'm going to make sure I eat broccoli at least once a week or from now on I think I'm going to be nice to myself every day.

Tucker said ooh I like those.

I didn't like the broccoli one though.

I don't want to do broccoli once a week.

I like all sorts of foods.

I can eat absolutely anything Lisa.

You know me but broccoli.

Broccoli just makes me toot way too much.

I have broccoli and I could just toot and toot and toot and then mum and dad get upset because my toots are so smelly and gross and then Leo gets mad with me because my toots smell like broccoli mixed with gosh knows what.

It's like broccoli died in there ten years later it decided to come out in the form of a gas.

What's my toot?

Oh that was very smart.

Because toots are gases aren't they?

Lisa said.

Kinda yeah.

You're right.

Tucker said oh you know what my New Year's resolution is Lisa?

I have a New Year's resolution dad.

My New Year's resolution right is to not eat any kittens,

Puppies or tiny little animals.

To make friends with tiny animals.

To make friends with guinea pigs and bunny rabbits and chickens and rats and kitty cats and little tiny puppies or little tiny full grown dogs.

Little tiny full grown dogs.

They fool you you know because you look at them and you're like oh look at that.

Oh that puppy looks so good and tasty.

And then you get closer and you're like oh wait a minute you're not a puppy.

You don't have that puppy breath and you don't smell like a puppy.

You know puppies smell like babies a little bit don't they?

And they're so sweet and they smell so gentle and soft and nice and fluffy.

And then you get to a grown up dog that's just a little doggie and they just smell like a dog.

And you're like oh no you just smell like older toast.

You don't smell sweet at all.

You smell like an old piece of toast.

I'd rather not eat you.

I'd rather just chew you up a lot.

Chew you up.

Chew you up a lot.

Leo said I thought you were going to make a New Year's resolution about not eating puppies and if that's the case I think you should start now by controlling yourself and your emotions and getting used to not eating anything that you're not supposed to eat except your dinner.

Tucker said oh yeah yeah yeah good point good point.

I'm sorry I let my emotions get away with me.

I think I need to doodly doodle.

Lisa said you mean I think I need to journal Tucker.

Journal.

Like a journey.

But you journal.

Not journey.

You journal.

And then when you're journaling that means you're actually doing it like I'm doing.

I'm journaling.

I'm writing out in my book my feelings about my New Year's resolutions.

Leo asked Lisa what her New Year's resolution was.

Lisa said that she was going to start a new project each month.

So that's 12 projects next year.

Any project she wanted.

Something new and then all that following month she would do that project or she would do that new exercise or that new hobby whatever it was.

And then at the end of the month on the first of the next month she would start her brand new project and she was going to do that 12 times through the year.

Lisa said that one of her projects next year was going to be crocheting and Leo said that he had just got into crocheting and he happened to be very good at it.

He could teach her how to crochet.

Lisa was very happy with that.

Leo said that one of his New Year's resolutions was to learn to sing which absolutely baffled Tucker.

Oh gosh I never would have thought that you wanted to learn to sing Leo.

That's absolutely crazy.

But it's also amazing.

I'd love to be able to sing.

You know Leo when you learn to sing I think I might like to do that with you if that's ok because I'd really like to be able to sing because you know what?

Because you know what Leo?

I look at him on telly and I go oh my golly gosh they sound so nice and then all this funny things happen in my body and my throat tightens up and I get tears in my eyes and I'm like oh I'm all verklempt and I'm all like taken aback by somebody's voice and I think oh I'd love to be able to sing like that.

If I could sing like that and make people feel like I feel when I hear someone that sings so nice I'm like oh my gosh that would be such a nice thing to do.

Yes Leo I'd like to do that as one of my New Year's resolutions.

Lisa said I think you'd both be really good at singing guys.

Do you want to practice now with me?

I like to sing.

Tucker said what would we sing?

What would we sing?

I've got no idea what I want to sing.

No I don't think I want to do that Lisa.

I think I want to practice first with Leo lots and lots and lots.

Is that alright with you Leo?

Leo said oh yeah definitely I'm not ready for that yet.

No no thanks Lisa but no I don't think so.

Lisa said well that's ok guys.

You know it's ok that you just take your time and then you show me when you want to ok?

And then you can practice and feel comfortable doing it and all of that good stuff and then you can show me.

Both Leo and Tucker agreed that that's what they'd rather do.

Then Tucker said what's the point in having a New Year's resolution anyway do people actually do that all the time?

Do they stick to it?

Do they actually start something and then they do it all year?

I mean does it really make people do it?

Is it like if you don't stick to your New Year's resolution then it's against the law and then you would get arrested and then the police would come to your house and say hello Mrs Belinsky.

Mrs Belinsky we noticed that you made a New Year's resolution at the beginning of the year on January the 1st and you said you weren't going to eat any chocolate.

Look at your face you've got chocolate all over your face.

Mrs Lewinsky would stand there and say oh I'm sorry police officer I forgot that I made a New Year's resolution and I'd be like Mrs Belinsky you knew you were doing naughty things by eating chocolate when you said you weren't going to eat chocolate anymore and that's why I called the police on you.

Is it like that Lisa?

Lisa said no.

It'd be good if it was though Tucker that's actually a really good idea because then maybe more people would stick to the New Year's resolutions but as it is it's just kind of like a mild incentive for people to do something good for themselves or maybe to make a resolution to do something good for others because that's even better.

One of my resolutions that I have down here is to make sure that I do some kind of charity work at least two or three times this next year so that I can get reminded that some people don't always have it that easy and you have to appreciate the things that you have and if you are around people that don't have very much that's normally one of the things that can make you see that you really really are lucky.

Leo said I think that's a really nice one Lisa.

I think I'd like to do that too.

Tucker said if it involves helping other people then I'm sure it's a good thing Lisa and you're so kind and sweet and nice that it makes total sense that you would have a nice New Year's resolution like that.

I think everybody maybe should make a New Year's resolution to be nice to other people and to be kind and maybe do things to help other people that aren't as lucky as you.

That's such a nice idea and that's so nice.

In fact scrap all the other resolutions because you know I think helping other people is more important than anything else especially a resolution about quitting chocolate like Mrs Lewinsky or whatever it is.

I've forgotten her name already.

Anyway yes so I think I'd like to do that too.

Lisa sat Leo down and took her down and she put a notepad in front of both of them with a pen and she let them just kind of doodle and do what they wanted but their intentions were that they were putting down New Year's resolutions.

Things that they wanted to do in the New Year.

They had a really good night.

They had a cup of tea and some popcorn and that made Tucker very very happy and then eventually they brushed their teeth.

They settled down onto the bed.

They said goodnight to Lisa.

They relaxed their bodies.

Got super comfortable and then fell fast asleep.

The end.

I like caramel popcorn and I also like to journal when I have really happy days. My last year’s New Year’s solution was to draw more, and my last to last New Year’s resolution was to serve more and not serve as in labour necessarily but serve as in do good things for people. I accomplished that—I’m not sure about the drawing one 😅
