This is a guided mindfulness meditation that will support you in releasing stress and anxiety. It will help you become calm and present under challenging times, and allow you to enjoy life and live in the moment. We will start with some deep breathing practices, followed by guided visualisation to cultivate a sense of peace, calm, and rejuvenation.

Hi friends,

This is John from Conscious Beginnings.

Today we will practice our skills to find the calm in stressful situations.

This practice is designed for you to access the relaxation response and let go of any stress you may have experienced during your day,

Week or month.

We are living in intense times.

We are facing many changes and challenges globally.

There is an overwhelming sense of uncertainty,

Worry,

Anxiety and fear due to current coronavirus pandemic.

I can certainly relate to some of these emotions that you may be experiencing at this moment,

As we are not sure how long and how much we will be impacted by this.

I certainly go in and out of worry and anxiety as I am navigating through these critical times.

Worries around health of the loved ones,

Financial losses due to economic downturn,

Potential isolation on the horizon and not being able to foresee the end of what is going to happen.

Regardless where you are at in the world,

We are all affected by these changes to a certain degree.

It is important to acknowledge that you are not alone.

You may be physically isolated in your home,

But remember that you are a part of our human family.

You are loved and you are supported.

It is easy to get overwhelmed by what is happening as we have never seen anything like this in our lifetime.

At the same time,

It is of utmost importance to be able to center ourselves and find a place of calm and peace so that we can show up as our best selves despite this crisis.

It's a time to be a role model for others,

Maybe for your children,

The elderly and many others who may be feeling overwhelmed by the current events.

We will now have a short guided mindfulness practice to cultivate a place of peace and calm within you.

Think about the metaphor,

The eye of the storm.

No matter what's happening around,

There is a place within you which is calm,

Centered and present.

To begin with,

Finding a comfortable and relaxed posture.

If you are sitting,

Sit with an erect spine with a sense of dignity and confidence.

If you are lying down,

Connect with the center of your core.

You can close your eyes or you can lower your gaze.

Start taking five deep breaths all the way down to your abdomen.

Exhaling with a sigh,

Letting go of any accumulated tension,

Stress,

Worry,

Fear or anxiety.

With each inhalation,

Inviting a sense of calm,

Peace,

Rejuvenation.

Start feeling your feet on the floor,

Noticing the support of the Mother Earth as we sit or lie here.

Knowing that there is always support available to you.

You are never alone and you are always connected to your human family,

The nature and everything around you.

I want you to imagine a staircase that will take you down into a beautiful place.

Seeing these steps right in front of you as you look down.

You start walking down these steps.

Ten,

Nine,

Eight.

With each step,

You are going deeper and deeper in a state of relaxation and peace.

Seven,

Six,

Five.

Relaxing more and more.

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

You are now in a place of safety,

Calmness,

Clarity and joy.

Maybe you are on a beach,

In a meadow or on a mountain top or any other place of your choosing.

See this amazing natural space around you at this moment.

Looking around and noticing the surroundings.

What do you see,

Hear,

Smell or touch?

Breathing in the fresh air.

Feeling the warmth of the sunshine on your skin.

Hearing the birds sing.

Smelling the perfumes of different flowers or trees around you.

This is your place of safety,

Clarity and peace.

As you sit here,

Enjoy the tranquility of life,

The lushness of nature and the gifts of this life.

Feeling gratitude that you have the senses to explore the beauties of our planet.

Spending as much time as you need in your safe place.

Remembering that it is always available to you.

You can come here anytime,

Even for a couple of minutes when you feel stressed or overwhelmed.

Let your safe place source you with strength,

Courage,

Vibrancy and joy.

Breathing into these feelings and emotions.

Feeling the strength and joy in your being.

How does it feel in your body?

Spending these feelings and seeing these positive emotions fill out the whole room that you're in.

Feeling a gentle smile on your face,

Knowing that you're safe no matter what.

Staying in the eye of the storm,

Centered,

Clear and powerful.

You'll now gently walk back up the stairs and once we reach step 10,

You'll come back into your current reality.

Feeling safe,

Calm and better than before.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Once we reach step 10,

You'll come back into your current reality.

Feeling safe,

Calm and better than before.

Six,

Seven,

Eight,

Nine,

Ten.

Opening your eyes,

Taking three deep breaths in and out.

Letting go of any visualization,

Knowing that this safe place is always within you.

Before we finish,

A good practice with a visualization to take you to a place of calm within yourself. Music starts around the 8 minute mark after a brief introduction from the narration.
