Namaste,

My friends.

The throat chakra is the fifth chakra,

Located right at the center of the neck at the level of the throat.

It is symbolic of the passage of the energy between the lower parts of the body and the upper parts of the body,

The upper chakras in the head.

And the function of this chakra is driven by the principle of expression and communication,

Balancing our throat chakra is important for our speech,

Our creativity,

Our self-expression in the world.

It's most commonly represented by the color turquoise blue and its symbol is a circle with 16 petals containing a downward pointing triangle and another circle.

The throat chakra is important to our communication and to being our authentic selves in the world.

So we want to have a vibrant and healthy throat chakra.

So let's practice.

And we'll start by just settling in,

Find a comfortable seat or a place to lie down where your spine can be straight.

And that line of energy from the tailbone to the crown can be one long line.

Tune into your surroundings.

Notice any sounds you hear.

You might close your eyes and notice light filtering in through your eyelids.

You might notice darkness as you begin to bring your awareness inside.

Become aware of the temperature of the air against your skin and any other sensations you might notice that allowing those physical sensations to fall away.

Bring your awareness to your breath with a gently closed mouth.

Breathe in through your nose and allow that air to fill up your belly and your ribs and your lungs.

And see if you can extend the breath all the way up into the throat center.

And then as you exhale,

Release all of the breath through the nose,

Allowing the belly to settle back in,

Drawing back in toward the spine.

Inhale again and exhale,

Let go.

Once more,

Big inhalation and a long,

Slow exhalation.

I'm pausing here to notice the breath flowing easily in and out of the body.

Each inhalation relaxes the mind and every exhalation allows the body to soften.

Now bring your awareness to your throat center,

That fifth chakra.

And as you do,

Imagine a beautiful turquoise blue color enveloping that entire area of the throat.

And on your next inhalation,

Breathe in through your nostrils and imagine that that throat center,

That turquoise blue sphere that is enveloping your throat center is growing in size.

Perhaps it grows all the way up to the tops of the ears and all the way down to the lower lobes of the lungs.

And then as you exhale,

Draw it back in so it's becoming smaller and resting right at that throat center.

Nice big inhalation,

Expand your sphere and a nice long exhalation,

Draw it back in.

Let's take a few more of these together,

Keeping that visualization of that turquoise blue throat center as it expands and contracts,

Vibrant,

Healthy,

Really good.

Now letting go of your visualization,

Bring your awareness back to that throat center and perhaps you want to swallow in your throat.

On your next inhalation,

We'll breathe in deeply and on the exhalation,

We will chant the word hum together.

And we'll do this for several rounds.

So take your time,

Move with your own breath.

Let's begin now,

Inhale deeply.

Hum.

Hum.

Hum.

Hum.

Just allow that sound to reverberate in and through your throat chakra.

Maybe you want to swallow in your throat again as you're ready.

Let's take one big inhalation through the nose and a long,

Slow,

Full exhalation through the mouth.

Just sigh it out and let it go.

And as you move through your day,

May your throat chakra be a truthful expression of your divine love and light.

May you speak your truth with compassion and sincerity and may you intentionally care for your throat chakra so that you will continue to speak your truth into the world.

Until next time,

My friends,

Namaste.
