Spring Clearing The Mind

It feels so good to give our physical spaces a good clearing to bring about lightness. And it feels especially good to clear ourselves emotionally – releasing clutter in the mind so we can breathe more fully and make room for what matters most. I'm Kellyn Rose and this is your spring clearing guided visualization.
Find yourself coming into your most comfortable seated or lying down position.
Allow the arms to rest at the sides of the body with the palms facing up towards the sky.
Gently close the eyes and begin to take long slow deep inhales through the nose.
And long slow deep exhales through the nose.
Another long slow inhale.
And a long slow exhale.
Continue to take these long slow deep breaths in and out through the nose.
Feel each one bringing with it a deeper and deeper sense of relaxation.
Inhaling fill the lungs and find space and then exhaling completely to send the breath back out into the world.
Releasing it with any negative thoughts that may be lingering in the mind.
Allow your breath now to return to normal.
Just in and out the natural breath allowing it to move at its own natural pace.
If your mind begins to wander off know that it is okay.
It's the nature of the mind to wander.
When that happens simply bring your attention back to the sound of my voice.
Now bring your attention into the lower body and allow a feeling of relaxation to begin to fill all the way into the feet.
Feel how heavy,
Loose and relaxed they become.
Open the heels,
The ankles,
The calves,
The tops and backs of the knees.
Allow the softening to continue into the upper legs and let them relax too.
Relax the muscles of the legs completely.
Just let go.
The tops and the backs of the thighs begin to soften.
The glutes relaxing.
Soften through the hips and the pelvis and all the surrounding muscles.
Now slowly bring your attention into the upper body,
Shifting the focus into the hands.
Notice the fingertips and the backs of the hands resting on the ground beneath you.
Allow the palms to feel heavy.
Soften the wrists,
The forearms,
The inner elbows,
The upper arms.
Feel the shoulders soften as they gently slide down the back of your body away from your ears.
Soften the belly and allow the chest to open wide.
Shift the shoulders slightly and open up into your heart space.
Create room,
Create space all around the collarbone.
Now bring your attention into the neck as the muscles of the throat too start to soften.
And as the tongue drops away from the roof of the mouth,
Soften the jaw,
The nose,
The cheekbones,
The temples,
The eyes,
The space between the eyebrows and the forehead.
Let everything go.
Let all the tension leave your physical body.
Bring your attention back to your breath and notice as it enters through the nose that it fills the lungs.
And notice as how you exhale,
The ribs knit back together and the breath flows through the nose and back out into the world.
Do not try to control the breath in any way.
Just watch it as it flows in and out.
On your next inhale,
Breathe in a fresh,
Clean breath of spring air.
And as you exhale,
Release any stale and old energy.
Inhale and breathe in clarity.
Exhale and release any clutter that might have gathered in the mind.
Inhale and breathe in endless possibilities.
Exhale and release anything that no longer served you.
And now,
In your mind's eye,
See yourself standing outside a closed door in a room in your home.
It is morning.
Your mind feels clear and your spirits feel lifted.
You guide your hand down towards the door handle,
Turning it,
Turning the handle as the door opens and you step inside.
The sunlight streams through the room and a gentle breeze flows through the slightly open window.
The room,
Your mind and your body are filled with a sense of light and hope.
As you enter the room,
You notice a magnifying glass sitting on a small table.
It catches your attention,
For you've never seen it before in your home.
You become curious and walk over to the table where it is resting.
As you pick up the magnifying glass and begin to turn it over in your hands,
You notice that as you turn it,
The items it reflects appear much differently than you expect.
You hover the magnifying glass over an old cell phone.
It's an outdated model and you updated your device long ago.
But still,
The older version has been sitting in the room.
You've been meaning to donate it or recycle it,
But you just haven't gotten around to it yet.
As you peer at the phone through the magnifying glass,
You notice that the phone looks dim and dull.
Interesting,
You think to yourself.
Your attention shifts over to the chair beside you.
On it rests the hardcover journal you recently purchased for yourself.
When you saw it at the store,
Your eyes were immediately drawn to its blue and yellow colors.
The journal practically leapt off the shelf and into your hands.
You just couldn't wait to bring it home.
Every evening since,
You've looked forward to spending a few minutes jotting down some of the things,
The many things that you were grateful for that day.
You love how the pen just glides as the thoughts spill out of your heart and your mind and on to the smooth pages.
The practice of journaling has quickly become one of your favorite parts of the day.
And now,
As the magnifying glass scans it,
The covers colors jump out at you even more vibrantly.
As you peer through the glass,
You notice the corners of the pages are perfectly crisp.
And the ink from your handwriting appears as if it's from a painter's brushstrokes.
In that instant,
You immediately become aware of what's happening.
The magnifying glass is helping you to see which items in the room are stagnant,
Out of date,
No longer functioning optimally,
Filling your space with clutter,
And holding you back.
It's also helping you to see the items that support you,
That tap into your current desires,
That bring you a sense of energy,
Fill your space with creativity and vibrancy,
And confirm that you are on the right path.
Feel yourself drinking in the sunshine and taking a deep breath of the fresh spring air.
As you scan the room,
Allow your eyes to settle on any item drawing your attention.
As you focus in on it,
Ask yourself,
What was the original purpose of this item?
How does having it in this room now make me feel?
Does it have a reason for still existing in this space?
Is there something still to be learned from this item?
Or has it served its purpose?
If you feel drawn to it,
Hold the magnifying glass up to the item to confirm your thinking.
After holding on to this item for far too long,
You have come to know that this item no longer serves you,
And it's time to let it go.
It's time to let go of this item.
And in the middle of the room is a large cloth bag rolled into a ball.
You walk over and uncurl it and prop it up on the ground so that it easily accepts the items that you no longer need.
And you know you must release.
So when you're ready,
Place the item into the cloth bag.
It's a large bag and its shape expands to accommodate its contents.
And now scan the room once again,
Finding another item to focus on and ask yourself,
What was the original purpose of this item?
How does having it make me feel now?
Does it have a reason for still existing in this space?
Is there something that I still need to learn from this item?
Or has it served its purpose?
And if you feel drawn to it,
Hold the magnifying glass up to this item to confirm your thinking.
And when you're ready,
Place the item into the cloth bag.
Because again,
You have realized this item no longer serves you.
Continue in this way,
Repeating the process,
Letting more and more of the items go.
.
.
.
.
.
Repeat this process for one more final item,
The last item that no longer serves you in your life's journey.
Pick it up,
Place it in the bag,
And let it go.
Now gather up the sides of the cloth bag and tie it together at the top with the piece of twine that you see lying right there on the ground.
And stand next to the bag and close your eyes.
Feel once again the rush of the crisp spring air flowing through you with a cleansing and clearing sensation.
Take notice of how you feel.
Lighter,
Clearer,
Open now to new experiences.
Inhale deeply,
Creating space.
And then exhale completely,
Letting go.
Inhale,
I make space.
Exhale,
I let go.
Inhale,
I make space.
And exhale,
I let go.
As you stand in quiet reflection,
Feel the warmth of the sun still streaming in through the window.
It's light filling the room.
Your body feeling lighter now,
Having let go of what no longer serves you.
Feel the sense of lightness and freedom.
Having taken the time to clear away the clutter and creating room,
An invitation for new,
Fresh,
Inspiring and purposeful things.
Feel the sense of openness,
Expanse and purification emanating from your heart center and filling the rest of your body.
And now just be for a few minutes.
.
.
.
.
.
And now it's time to return.
Keeping your eyes closed,
Imagine the space around you,
The colors of the walls,
The objects in the room that share this space with you.
Gently allow your breath to deepen.
Wiggle your fingers.
Wiggle your toes.
Gently allow your eyelashes to begin to separate.
And as they do,
Slowly bring in the light.
Bring in the colors.
And now take three nice,
Long,
Deep breaths together.
Inhaling in.
And exhaling out.
Inhaling in.
And exhaling out.
Inhaling in.
And exhaling out.
Spend a moment bringing your awareness back and acknowledging how you are feeling.
And when you are ready,
Return to your day.
Refreshed and fulfilled with a deep knowing that you are enough.
