Fully Embrace Exhaustion
by Yin Lau
Being tired is a very common feeling nowadays. Rather than constantly trying to find solutions, in this meditation, we will allow exhaustion to arise and fully embrace it with the body. Let our breaths create a safe space for exactly as we are.

Hi,
This is Yin.
Today's meditation,
We're going to be connecting with the feeling of being tired or exhausted.
This is a very common feeling nowadays,
Especially in our society.
It could be many,
Many things that make us feel tired,
Or sometimes we simply wake up and feel tired.
There can also be many ways that can help us to feel more energized,
But in this meditation,
Let us just stop trying to fix the problem,
Trying to find a solution.
Let's just take a moment to be with this feeling.
No longer resisting,
Simply be with it.
So let us take a moment now to get settled.
You can sit,
Find a comfortable position to sit down on a chair,
Or simply lie down on a mat,
On your bed.
Just find a comfortable position.
And now,
Let's try to look around the room.
Just take notice.
What do you see in front of you,
Around you,
In this space,
This room that you are going to be meditating in?
Now our attention is outward,
Using our eyes,
Our senses to perceive the world around us.
And then slowly we can close our eyes.
We can turn to focus the attention inward.
We start to feel our breath connect with our inhale and exhale.
As we inhale,
We'll feel the body rising.
As we exhale,
We feel the body falling.
Feel the expansion and contraction each time we inhale and exhale.
There's no rush.
There's also no wrong way to do this.
Simply allow yourself to feel your breath,
To feel how your body is as you're breathing.
It's also okay if your mind is filled with thoughts,
Lots of thoughts flying around.
It's okay.
Don't need to resist them.
Don't need to judge them.
Simply be aware that they are here.
And we can also come back to the breath each time you notice.
As we're breathing,
Connecting with the breath and the body,
We're slowly creating a safe space for ourselves,
A safe space where everything is accepted,
Allowed.
There's nothing you have to do,
Nowhere to be.
Simply here and now,
With your breath,
With your body.
As we're breathing,
Connecting with the blood body,
You also notice the feeling of being tired,
Extortion.
The feeling of being tired,
Being exhausted.
There could be a multiple of thoughts and judgment arises with it as we start connecting with this feeling.
And in this space that we have created for ourselves,
All is allowed,
All is accepted,
Including the judgment,
The thoughts.
It's okay to be tired.
It's okay to feel exhausted.
Simply be with this feeling as we're inhaling and exhaling.
Also in this space that we have created,
We can also preserve an area for all the judgment,
All the thoughts,
All the self-criticism that is arising.
Allow them to be here,
Give them a space,
An area for them to rest there.
So we're no longer to fight them,
We no longer have to do anything with them.
Allow them to be here while we continue to feel our body and our breath.
How does it feel to be tired?
How does the body feel?
We can shift the attention from our mind to the body.
How does this feeling really feel like in the body?
Just allow the body to experience this feeling of fatigue,
This feeling of no energy,
Powerless,
No motivation,
Don't have energy to do anything.
It could be physically tired,
It can also be emotionally,
Mentally tired.
Allow the feeling to be here.
Simply connect with it through the body.
There's nothing you have to do.
Nothing complicated,
Simply connect with the breath,
Be with whatever that's present.
Don't need to analyze,
Don't need to find solution,
Just come as you are.
If you're okay as you are,
You're welcome however you are in this space that you have created for yourself,
Through your breath,
Through your body.
What's the texture of this feeling?
How is it manifesting through the body?
We can do a short body scan to just kind of go through the body and take notice and observe how each part of the body is feeling.
Perhaps a certain part of the body calling for more of your attention as you're breathing.
And you can imagine yourself breathing into that part.
As your breath is like your friend,
Your company,
The one you need to be by your side to tell you that it's okay.
It is your breath,
It's never leaving you,
It's always here with you.
Start from the head,
From the top of the head,
Slowly scanning down through the forehead,
Inside the brain.
Keep breathing into each part.
Inhale into it,
Exhale and release.
And also imagine we're inhaling,
Absorbing the energy,
Nutrition that we need for each part.
As you exhale,
Also allow anything that is no longer needed to be released.
You don't have to put too much effort thinking how to do it,
Simply breathe into it.
Simply breathe out of it.
We don't need to understand everything.
The body is already taking care of itself as you inhale and exhale.
It's already doing its thing without you understanding everything,
Realizing anything.
So simply allow yourself to just breathe into each part.
So go down to the eyes,
Between the eyebrows,
In the third eye's area.
Going down to the nose,
Your cheeks,
Your mouth,
Inside your tongue,
Your jaw.
Don't need to hold anything anymore,
Allow the tension to be released.
Keep breathing into each part.
That's all you have to do.
You can let go of understanding,
Let go of trying to solve the problem,
Let go of trying to feel more energized,
Trying to find a solution.
Just kind of let it be as we inhale and exhale through the body.
Just allow whatever needs to happen to happen naturally without us putting any effort.
Just like our breath is happening all the time without us trying.
And keep going down to the neck.
Feel the air going in and out,
Up and down,
Inside your throat.
Then to the shoulder.
If you're aware that there's any weight,
Pressure,
Stress that we have put on the shoulder,
You can also allow the breath to help us.
Each time we exhale,
We release a little more,
Let go a little more,
Or without any effort,
Just breath.
Breathe into it,
Breathe out of it.
And now we move to the arms.
From the arms to the elbow,
Forearms,
Wrist,
Hands,
Fingers.
Allow the hands to take a rest.
Now we move to the chest area.
Continue to feel your breath.
As you inhale,
You feel the chest expanding.
As you exhale,
You feel the chest contracting.
It's all naturally happening without you putting any effort.
And underneath there is your heart.
Breathe into your heart.
Breathe out of your heart.
How does the feeling of being tired,
Exhausted,
Fatigued,
How are they manifesting through your body,
Through this area of your body?
Simply take notice and observe.
You don't need to analyze anything.
And it's also okay when your mind is starting to analyze,
Trying to figure things out.
We have a space,
An area for all the thoughts.
Allow them to be here.
It's okay that they're here.
Can we go down a little more to our belly?
Underneath the belly,
There's all kinds of organs.
Breathe into them.
Breathe out of them.
Can we go down to the legs?
From your thighs,
To your knees,
To your calves,
Your ankles,
Your feet,
Your toes,
The sole of the feet.
Inhaling,
Exhaling naturally into each part.
Now you're free to continue breathing,
Connecting with any parts of the body.
It's okay to be tired.
It's okay to have no motivation.
It's okay to feel fatigue.
It is all okay at this moment.
As we're feeling them,
Experiencing them,
No longer resisting,
Rejecting.
No longer busy trying to find a solution.
Just simply allow ourselves to experience this feeling through the body.
You're okay as you are.
We can continue to connect with this feeling through the body.
Continue to enjoy the space,
The safe space that you've created for yourself.
But also if you feel like it's about time for you to return to whatever you were doing before,
You can also just gently take a moment to start moving your body a little bit.
Continue to feel your breath while you start to move your head,
Your shoulder,
Your hands,
Your waist,
Your legs,
Your feet,
Just little by little.
Start to wake up the body to be ready to return back to your activities or back to your daily lives.
But we can still continue to have this awareness or continue this safe space you've created for yourself.
Continue to allow yourself to simply feel and be with whatever you are at this moment.
There's nothing wrong.
Also be gentle,
Be compassionate to yourself.
Maybe all you need to do now is simply resting.
Don't need to force yourself to do anything if your body simply needs to rest.
Whatever you decide to do,
It is all okay.
It's all accepted.
Now when you're ready,
You can slowly open your eyes and give yourself a little smile,
A little hug.
Thank your body.
Thank yourself for the safe space you created for yourself.

Perfect gentle meditation for when exhaustion is on the brink of overwhelm. A gentle reminder that we don't need to understand the inner workings of our amazing bodies we just need to trust them, and not fight what we're feeling. Thank you for creating this meditation, it was exactly what I needed today ππ»

Such a beautiful meditation, thank you π I have several health conditions that cause fatigue and rest/ sleep doesn't help with that kind of exhaustion. Bringing acceptance and compassion to the feeling really helps as fighting against it just causes emotional distress and more fatigue. I've listened to this the last two afternoons and I feel it's going to become a firm favourite!
