Hello my friend and welcome to this short meditation for setting your intention.
Today we'll be setting an intention for our day.
You can do this meditation first thing in the morning or anytime during the day where you feel like you just need to reset your intention for the day.
So when you're ready,
Join me in a comfortable seated position.
You can close the eyes or let the gaze soften down towards the floor and bring the attention to your breath.
Noticing your inhales and exhales.
Bringing your attention to the sensation of breathing in and the sensation of breathing out.
You don't need to do anything special with the breath.
Simply notice it.
Notice what it feels like to breathe today.
Notice the qualities of your breath.
Is your breath quick or slow?
Deep or shallow?
Humid or dry?
Is the air warm or cool?
And if you feel like anything needs to be adjusted in order to make the breath more enjoyable,
Go ahead and adjust that now.
Allowing yourself to be in a space of non-judgment.
Whatever the breath looks like right now is totally fine.
There's no right or wrong way to do it.
There's simply the act of breathing.
Take a few breaths just like this.
Enjoying the sensation.
Allowing the breath to be.
And when you're ready,
I'd like to invite you to set an intention.
An intention can be a word or phrase such as focused or I will take deep breaths.
Your intention can also be an emotion or feeling such as peaceful,
Content or grateful.
Setting your intention is the initiation or the first step into your preferred story.
And when we start our day or even the next hour with an intention,
We are empowering ourselves so that instead of feeling like a victim of circumstance,
We become the conscious creators of our day and our life.
So take a moment now and let your intention bubble to the surface of your mind.
If you're not sure,
Take a moment to think about how you would like the rest of your day to go.
How would you like to feel for the remainder of your time at work,
At home,
Performing whatever activities or responsibilities you have to perform today.
You may find it helpful to use an I will statement such as today I will be present,
Today I will eat healthy things,
Today I will be patient or today I will make conscious choices.
Whatever way is most supportive for you to set an intention,
Take the next moment to do that now.
Now I encourage you to take that intention and maybe write it down or simply adopt it as a mantra to take with you for the rest of your day.
Breathing it to yourself over and over,
Anytime you feel stressed,
Anytime you feel conflicted or anytime you feel a negative experience or emotion coming up for you,
Take some time to recenter using your intention,
Taking a deep breath and repeating your intention to yourself.
As this meditation comes to a close,
I invite you to take another deep breath with me,
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling all the air out of the nose.
Let's take one more inhale and exhale.
Thank you so much for taking some time to set an intention with me today.
Wishing you a wonderful,
Present and calm rest of your day.
Bye for now.
