You When we meditate and we get really quiet,

Sometimes it can open us up to messages,

Stories or ideas from our intuition or subconscious.

Using visualization techniques and a bit of imagination we can encourage a connection with these messages and gain insights,

Sign posts that show us the way,

From our own deepest wisdom.

So this visualization technique will take you on a little journey and all that you need to bring with you is an open mind.

So we'll start as we always do,

By getting comfortable.

Sit on a cushion or a chair,

You want to be upright and relaxed but alert.

Take a moment to get really comfortable,

Settle in,

Choose your best posture and when you're ready gently close your eyes.

We'll begin as with any meditation by taking some deep breaths,

In through the nose then a small pause and out through the mouth.

In through the nose and out through the mouth.

In through the nose and out through the mouth.

We'll do this 3 or 4 more times and then we'll resume our normal breathing,

In and out through the nose.

Now,

Before we begin our journey just take a moment to check in with your body.

A quick scan from the head,

Just looking any areas of tension.

So start at the top of the head and work your way down.

If you find any tension in your forehead or eyebrows just relax that area and let it go.

Down to your eyes and your cheeks and your nose,

Scanning,

Relaxing and letting go.

Down now to your jaw and mouth,

If you're clenching your jaw or if your tongue isn't relaxed just take a moment to release that tension.

Now to the back of the head,

When the spine meets your skull just relax,

Letting go.

Down to the neck,

Scanning for tension,

The shoulders,

Letting go.

Explore your way down your arms to your elbows,

Wrists and hands.

Let your fingers become loose,

Letting go,

Letting go.

Now back to the top of your chest and spend a moment at your heart area,

Just allow your heart to ease up,

Letting go.

Down to your solar plexus and your belly,

If you find any tension hiding there just pause for a moment and let it go.

Your hips and pelvis now,

Scanning,

Looking for tension.

From the tops of your legs down to your knees,

Relaxing,

Letting any tension you find slip away.

Scanning through your calves and shins,

Down slowly to your ankles,

Relaxing,

Easing,

Letting go.

Now scan over the top of your feet,

What do they feel like?

Is there any tension in the soles of your feet?

Anywhere you might be holding on a little too tightly,

Just relax and let it go.

Now finally to your toes,

Relax them if you can and take a deep breath in and out.

Now I want you to imagine that you are standing in front of a closed door,

To the side of the door there is a shelf with a box sitting on it.

Imagine taking off your shoes and placing them on the floor under the shelf.

And then taking all the things that are on your mind,

Perhaps something that's bothering you at the moment,

Something that's been in your thoughts,

A worry,

An obligation,

A problem you've been dealing or struggling with,

Your to do lists,

Your deadlines and responsibilities.

Take all of those things and put them in the box on the shelf.

They'll still be there when you come back safe and sound,

But for now,

None of these things are welcome on the other side of the door.

Just take a moment to find those things and put them in the box.

Now imagine reaching for the door's handle and turning it.

The door opens and you step into an empty room,

Closing the door behind you.

The room is white and brightly lit.

It's warm and your feet feel comfortable on the floor.

There's nothing in this room apart from another door on the opposite wall.

We're going to wait here for a minute and just come into rhythm with our breathing in and out through the nose at your normal frequency.

Just spend a few moments paying attention to your breath.

L You you Now that you've had a moment to settle down,

I want you to walk across the room to the door on the other side.

Reach for the handle,

Open it and step into a brightly lit white corridor.

Along both sides of this corridor there are more doors.

As you walk along,

Inspect them as you go past.

They all look the same,

But all of them lead to different places.

You won't know where until you step through.

At the end of the corridor there are two more corridors going in either direction.

They're also brightly lit,

Also lined with identical doors.

You can go left or right,

And at the end of those corridors are more corridors going in different directions,

All lined with doors.

Explore these different passageways and keep looking at the doors,

Trying to imagine what might be behind them.

Take a moment now to explore,

Keep going down the corridors.

Don't open any of the doors just yet,

Just keep turning left or right,

Inspecting the doors as you go past.

On one of these corridors there's a door and it's calling to you.

It looks just the same as all the other doors,

But this one is resonating with you.

Keep exploring until you find that door,

And when you do,

Just pause for a moment outside it and keep your attention on it and on your breath.

When you've found your door,

You're going to reach for the handle.

Turn it,

Open the door and walk through.

Now you find yourself in a deep forest of giant redwood trees.

It's still and quiet,

Apart from the sounds of the occasional bird somewhere above you in the canopy.

You're alone here,

And the leaf litter beneath your feet is soft and warm.

Through the trees you notice a light shining.

Walk towards it,

Slowly,

One step at a time.

There's no need to hurry,

No need to rush,

Just keep walking towards that light,

And as you do,

Take in the sounds,

Breathe in the air of the forest,

Cleanse yourself in this calm and soothing space beneath the trees.

As you keep walking,

The light starts to get bigger and brighter as you get closer and closer to it.

You're still surrounded by these giant trees which stand over you like kind giants,

Reassuring you that everything's okay and that there's nothing to worry about.

Closer now and the light is starting to fill the forest.

Brighter and brighter it starts to become dazzling,

All encompassing.

Closer now and the light is starting to fill the forest.

Brighter and brighter it starts to become dazzling,

All encompassing,

But it's not uncomfortable,

If anything it feels warm and soothing,

Fresh and energizing.

It's so bright now that you can no longer see the trees,

You're just in the light,

And wherever you turn there is nothing to see but light.

Rest here for a moment and breathe it in,

Let it clear out any thoughts of the real world,

Leaving only you behind,

Pure,

Brilliant light.

Breathe it in.

Breathe it out.

Now as you relax in this bright and brilliant space,

Feeling cleansed and at ease,

You start to feel that there's someone else here too.

You see a figure walking towards you and immediately feel that this is a fellow traveller and there's nothing to be afraid of.

First you can just about make out their shape and while you can't see them you get a sense that this is a friendly person.

They're about your height,

Just a vague silhouette in the brilliance.

As they get closer and their image becomes clearer,

You realise that this person coming towards you is you,

But they look older,

Perhaps 10 years older,

But despite those years they look good,

Healthy,

Happy,

Confident and secure.

They reach out a hand and you take it in yours and you smile together for a moment or two.

This is you,

This is the best possible future you,

This is how you hope you will be by the time you get to that age.

After a few moments the future you leans forward and whispers something in your ear,

Something friendly,

Something useful,

Something wise,

Perhaps a piece of advice,

Perhaps some encouragement,

Perhaps a clue to a riddle that you need to answer.

Maybe it's an idea of your next step forward,

Maybe it's something you need to remember to bring back with you.

What are they saying?

What are they telling you?

What is it that they know that they want you to know too?

Pause now and let them speak and take their words into you as part of you.

Shepard You Eventually,

The other you says that they have to go.

Their life is calling them back.

You say goodbye and as they disappear into the light,

You turn back too.

Walking slowly in time with your breathing,

You begin to make out the vague shapes of the giant trees appearing through the bright light.

As you walk further,

You find yourself back in the forest,

The friendly giants towering over you.

You say a silent thank you for their guardianship and up in the canopy the wind sways their branches.

Further ahead,

You can see your door waiting for you.

It gets bigger and bigger until finally you reach it.

And with one final look back into the forest and towards that brilliant light,

You turn a handle and step back through the door into the white corridor.

As you retrace your steps,

Turning this way and that,

As you make your way back,

A thought occurs to you and you realise that all the other doors,

All the doors that line the way,

These infinite doors that stretch off in every direction as far as you can see,

They are all locked.

They always were.

The only door that wasn't locked was your door.

All this time you've been walking your true path,

The path intended only for you.

Finally you step back into the empty room.

Take a moment now to settle in with your breathing,

Breathing in and out through your nose.

Keep your attention on your breathing for just a minute or two more.

Wait.

Quiet.

Cool.

You you you Finally as you step back out through the first door that you came in through you find your shoes waiting where you left them and the box filled with your troubles,

Your worries your obligations and duties,

Your to do list,

Only they seem smaller now and a bit easier to handle and so as you collect up all your possessions just take a moment now to bring your attention back to your body feel the air on your skin feel your clothes and feel where you're sitting take a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth bring your attention back to the room that you're sitting in become aware of the noises around you you can wiggle your toes and your fingers stretch your back and your shoulders and as you come out of the meditation slowly open your eyes if you received a message or a piece of wisdom from yourself when you entered into the light in the forest take it with you through the day play with it,

Contemplate it perhaps it seems bizarre or abstract perhaps it makes perfect sense or perhaps you didn't receive anything at all just know that you have your own path ahead of you just for you and that deep within you,

You have the wisdom to find your way and if you need to come back to this space at any time just leave your shoes and troubles by the door and step into your light you you
