When we arrive in this plane of existence, we come without language. Gradually, language, with all its cultural baggage, is bestowed upon us until we even think and dream in words, and it forms part of our ego and identity. As such, it sits as a barrier to our deepest purest wisdom. Between us and the intrinsic knowledge we were born with – the knowledge that ties us to the divine. The aim of this meditation is to drop beneath language into a wordless state, to access our divine wisdom.

You When we come into this world,

We arrive without words.

And gradually over time,

Words are bestowed upon us.

Eventually,

Words become our primary form of communication and expression,

Until we even think and dream with words.

But with words come boundaries,

Limitations and the obligations of the outside world,

The world that is not us.

They do not naturally arise within us,

And are instead given to us,

Having been created over thousands of generations by our forebears.

And as such,

They come loaded with the histories and conventions of our culture,

With the weight of our ancestors' struggles,

And with the expectations of correct and rightful use.

These burdens are not ours,

But are put upon us.

And there are so many things,

So many experiences,

So many feelings,

That are beyond the capacity of language.

Words for things in other languages that are not in our own.

Things that can only be felt or experienced,

But cannot be told or passed on.

Things that go deeper,

So deep that they are beyond what is possible with mere words.

It is this that Lao Tzu was referring to in the Tao Te Ching when he said,

That which knows does not speak,

And that which speaks does not know.

And it is this that the Buddha was referring to when he said,

I can only show you the way,

But you have to walk it.

Such is our attachment to language that it even informs our identity,

Connecting itself to our ego and our personality,

And forming a barrier between our awareness and our deepest consciousness,

That sense of being that we came into the world with before language was bestowed upon us.

It is this deep level of consciousness that contains our truest wisdom and connects us to the divine.

And because we are a part of the infinite universe in its infinite number of dimensions,

In the same way that a drop of water is a part of the ocean,

We must consider any insight that comes from this deep intrinsic part of our self,

Any messages or visions,

As messages from the infinite.

They are messages from the universe.

In this guided meditation we aim to drop beneath language into a wordless state of being,

And we begin as always by sitting or lying comfortably,

Yet alert.

We want to be able to relax without falling asleep,

Though if you do fall asleep that's okay.

But the aim is to remain aware of what is going on in and around us.

So take a moment to settle in,

Get comfy,

Place your hands in a comfortable place on your lap or on your legs,

And when you're ready,

Close your eyes and we'll begin.

Let's start by taking a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

In through the nose,

And out through the mouth.

In through the nose,

Pause for a moment,

And out through the mouth.

When you breathe in,

Notice the feeling as your body expands and tightens.

And as you breathe out,

Really feel that relaxation as you release your breath back out again.

In through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

We'll do this four or five more times.

In through the nose.

Now,

Just resume your normal breathing.

With your normal rhythm in and out through your nose.

And at this point,

Bring a question to mind.

Something you might want to ask the universe.

It could be,

Who am I?

Or,

What do I need to know?

Or,

What do you want to tell me?

Something open and gentle that will allow the universe to respond in its own way.

Now as you breathe,

Begin to count on the in breath.

With each inhalation,

Count from one up to twenty.

If you lose count or get distracted,

Just start again from the beginning.

And if you make it all the way to twenty,

Start again at one.

Keep going for another couple of minutes,

Counting on the in breath from one up to twenty.

Guess what would be the buying point?

My line of hope is that the word more cool than clothes conditions are being held around.
