Let's start today's practice by finding somewhere comfortable to sit,
Whether that's on a cushion,
Laying on a yoga mat or sitting on a chair.
Allowing your arms just to rest gently on your knees.
Let your hands gently here on your thighs.
And let your body relax freely.
Your eyes softly close.
Let's look at what happens when we're faced with change.
We must trust what comes forth.
We must release our grasp on old and familiar ways.
The longer we fight our current situation,
The longer we remain in uncertainty,
Trapped somewhere between the past and the future.
You have a choice.
You can choose to see the changes as terrifying,
This unknown darkness.
Or you can choose to take on a childlike sense of curiosity and one of awe.
Accepting change isn't easy,
But when we face it,
Instead of running away from it,
We have the opportunity to grow,
To find alternative paths and potentially change our circumstances.
Let's start today's practice by taking a few deep,
Nourishing and slow breaths.
Consciously letting go what is coming up for you.
Relaxing your face,
Relaxing your shoulders,
Relaxing your forearms and your lower back.
Just focusing in here on the breath,
So allowing it to soften.
The breath is effortless,
Just watching it flow in and flow out.
As you breathe in,
Just connecting here with each breath,
Just noticing it fill up your lungs and then enjoying the feeling of each breath as it goes.
Feeling any feelings or thoughts that may be lying in your subconsciousness.
Notice any stress or strong emotions.
If you feel there is a black hole,
Stop in front of it.
Allow yourself to feel these emotions.
Acknowledge them and look not at them with fear,
But with curiosity and a renewed sense of purpose.
If a strong emotion causes tension in the body,
Instead of running away from it,
See if you can locate it in your body.
As challenging as this may feel,
Breathe into it.
Just stay with it,
Deep nourishing breaths and visualise or imagine the tension just melting away.
As the tides change in life,
Lean into it.
It may be intense,
But ultimately when you lean towards it and invite in curiosity,
The power of stress and anxiety will weaken.
Feel the pleasure in the simple act of you breathing in and out.
With your breath as your companion,
You can observe what comes up for you without getting sucked into it.
Placing a hand here on your heart centre and one on your stomach,
Allowing yourself to hold you,
Allowing your heart and your body to fill with hope.
From this place,
You get freedom,
Taking a moment here to allow love and compassion to pour through your whole body.
Gently now bringing your attention back here towards your breath.
Your awareness back here towards your body.
Taking a moment to congratulate yourself.
Feeling that your body is strong,
Your spine is nice and long,
Your shoulders are relaxed,
There's a gentle smile on your lips and whenever you're ready,
Just softly opening up your eyes.
