Have you ever had your presence caught in a detail that sends you light years away,
Sends you back to a past and different time in life?
A thing,
A smell,
The way the light falls in from the window,
Or a sound.
Your sense organs perceive it,
Attaches to it and your full attention goes straight into what you associate it with.
You are so mindful,
Yet you are not here.
You are so focused on your object of meditation from another time.
It's as if your whole energy is transported to a day,
A place and a person you were then.
Our mind is an incredible tool.
Instantly you are brought into another dimension.
Another dimension because the moment you recall so vividly just isn't anywhere around you here.
It's not happening simultaneously in another location.
It exists only within your being,
Within your mind,
Sense organs and the emotional storage.
It is very real again,
Just like the time when it took place in a physical manifested reality.
We can travel anywhere in our minds.
Nothing is impossible in that space.
Often we get caught up in the idea that this is not a spiritual practice.
That's not nourishing for us and that we need to practice being just here and now.
But there is a different layer of our history.
Almost as if travelling back to that moment can be a healing process.
Imagine that you are there right now.
You are re-experiencing whatever came into your existence from the past.
As you see the images,
You are imagining them in your mind's eye yet you are replaying something that your mind has already witnessed before.
So is it truly re-living the situation or are you re-visiting from the position of an observer?
Having created a certain space where you can note everything that is happening in the moment,
The reactions of yourself and maybe even other people,
From a more poised,
Non-reactionary position.
We must learn to revisit the past whenever it comes knocking on the door.
Whenever our attention travels from this moment and into a different dimension just by observing something in the now.
To be in that moment in your mind,
In your being,
To smell the smells again,
To feel the sensations again,
To hear the sounds again.
It is truly a spiritual practice because it is a healing practice.
It is the opportunity to integrate unintegrated moments from the past.
Your physical body relaxes down when this happens.
Your nervous system is soothed and you can slowly,
Gently,
The way you would prepare a dough.
Integrate movement by movement with your hands.
Each emotion that has been left astray.
The way you work that dough when baking until it becomes fully a part of the rest.
Fully a part of who you are.
Smooth dough.
Smooth you.
I invite you to revisit that capacity of the time travel in your mind as often as you need.
When you are feeling incapable of expressing emotional soothing in the now,
Then sit down,
Close your eyes and allow for your mind to travel,
To bring you back.
Be with it.
Live it.
Smell it.
Touch it.
Observe it.
Integrate it.
Bake that dough into fully integrated piece of art which is truly what you are.
Namaste.
Thank you for practicing with me.
Thank you.
