Good morning.
Here is your chance to reset the momentum of your day.
There's already been a bit of momentum that started and here you have the chance to release the habit energy of your past and the pull into worries about the future and come back to just right now.
In the words of Thich Nhat Hanh,
Being is the ground for doing.
The quality of your doing is informed by the quality of your being.
Being informs doing.
So let's use this time to return to your being and if you like you can close your eyes or allow the eyes to close and allow the body to release.
Notice whatever tension is here.
This is the chronic tension related to your past and to your pull into the future.
It's energy stretching and pulling away from right now.
So notice tension maybe in the eyes,
In the face,
The jaw,
The forehead,
And along with the exhale,
Let go of whatever is holding on.
Breathing out and releasing this chronic tension.
Now the neck,
The chest,
The arms,
The hands,
The stomach.
Breathing out and allowing a full release of this chronic tension.
However the body knows how to do this.
Breathing out and letting it go.
Down through the legs,
Feeling into the feet,
Letting the body go completely and along with it the mind.
The mind and the body are really not separate.
The mind tension is related to body tension.
So sometimes to allow the body to let go is to help the mind remember how to let go.
So breathing out,
Releasing everything,
Letting go of anything that's holding on.
And when you breathe in,
Savor the breath.
Feel the reality of breathing.
This miraculous invisible air that's somehow entering you,
Filling you,
Nourishing you,
And keeping you alive.
This air is free.
Breathing out and letting go completely.
Letting go of whatever is holding on in the body,
In the mind.
They really are not separate.
And breathing in,
Feeling gratitude for the air that fills you.
And for this one chance to be alive.
This one chance that's only here.
You have this one day in front of you.
Just this one day.
Not the weight of your whole life,
Of what has been,
And what might be.
But just this one day.
And really just this one moment.
Moment by moment.
When you come back to the moment,
Or even just today,
This one day,
You have so much more capacity to face whatever is here,
Whatever the day brings.
When it's just today,
You can face it.
And when it's just this moment,
Especially,
You have all the capacity to face it.
Just come back here.
To the breath.
To the body.
Breathing in,
Feeling gratitude for the chance to be alive.
Breathing out.
Letting go of everything.
Just right now.
Here is your one chance.
Here is the only real thing.
Here is your one chance to be your most authentic self.
To be the you you most deeply want to be.
The you you've been trying to be.
The honest you.
The calm you.
The vulnerable you.
The disciplined you.
The loving you.
The you who you truly are.
That you is fully right here.
Today you have the chance to take the risk.
To truly live.
To not be who you've learned you should be.
To let go of shoulds.
And to stop shoulding on yourself.
Stop shoulding on yourself all the time.
And instead,
Simply be yourself.
There's nothing you need to do to be yourself.
Just be yourself and trust the rest.
When you are yourself,
Your natural self,
The you you were as a child,
And still are really under the surface.
When you are your natural self,
You are aligned with nature,
Naturally.
With the ways of the universe.
You flow with the current of the universe,
Not against it.
And so,
You become powerful.
The universe made you as you truly are.
So embrace who you are.
Feel love for who you truly are as made by the universe.
Trust the universe and move into this day authentically.
And whenever you notice old habit energy coming up,
When you feel a reaction based on the past or on the future,
Use the breath as a portal back to now.
The breath is always here to help you return to just right now.
And again,
Right now you can feel the breath happening through you.
Breathing in,
Savoring the present moment.
Breathing out,
Letting go of anything that's holding on.
Throughout the day you will be pulled away from right now.
By people,
By events,
By many things.
But the breath is always here with you as your friend,
Your guide,
To help you return to the clear reality of just right now.
The breath can bring you back here.
In this moment,
In this time here with me,
You're grounding yourself in being.
And the day will pull you out of being.
But you can set the intention now to keep returning to the breath,
To keep resetting your habit energy and opening yourself back up to just today.
And really just this one moment.
The quality of your being informs the quality of your doing.
So let's take just a few more breaths,
Returning simply to being before we move into this brand new day.
Breathing in deep,
Soaking in the reality of right now.
And breathing out,
Letting everything go.
Just today.
Just this one moment.
Now you can stay here as long as you like.
After this you might take a moment to journal or maybe stretch or maybe take a walk.
Anything that might further ground you in being before you move out into the day like a ship at sea.
And I wish you well.
