A short practice, as you’ll be gently guided to create more inner space when life feels demanding or overwhelming. Clearing The Space is an exercise developed by Eugene Gendlin. It’s especially supportive if you’re feeling stressed, emotionally full, distracted, or struggling to focus. Rather than fixing or analyzing anything, we’ll simply acknowledge what’s here and place it at a safe distance so your system can settle. This is an invitation to slow down, uncluttered the inner landscape, and reconnect with a sense of grounded presence right where you are.

When you are meeting with stress or a sense of overwhelmness,

This exercise,

Clearing the Space,

Developed by Eugene Gentlyn,

Can help you to unclutter what you're carrying,

Allowing a more spacious,

Calm,

Grounded inner space.

And so,

Just right here as you are,

Sensing into how your body is sitting in this moment.

Noticing how your body is settling,

Finding its comfortable sense of being here and now.

Noticing how your body arrives in this moment,

The weight,

The sensation,

The posture,

Having a sense of full body awareness,

Allowing any sensations to come as it is.

And here,

Let's take a beautiful breath in,

And then slowly,

Gently letting it out.

One more breath in,

Allowing your attention to drop inward,

Imagining an inner space,

Open,

Wide,

Spacious enough to hold anything in life.

And so here,

As you stay with your breath,

Gently ask yourself,

What's between me and being perfectly okay?

Sensing into how it feels to be okay,

And that what is in this moment that doesn't feel like it's allowing you to just becoming spacious and restful,

And it is.

And when something comes up,

Simply acknowledge it,

You may even name it quietly,

Oh,

It is this.

Perhaps noticing its emotional quality,

A sense of anxious,

Sad,

Tired,

Pressured,

Anything,

And always welcome.

So without going into its story,

Holding it,

Acknowledging it,

And now kind of imagine that you can place it into a distance or a place that feels right.

Perhaps placing it on a bench nearby,

A comfortable distance,

Maybe at the beach,

Under the sun,

Or in a garden with the trees,

Anywhere that feels like a distance that's just right.

Knowing you can always return to it later when you're more spacious.

As you return back to your breath here,

And you can continue to ask this question,

What's between me and feeling perfectly okay?

What's standing in the way?

And as you notice anything,

Whether it's a tension on your head,

A tight knot in your stomach,

Or a sense of busyness,

Task,

Work,

Thoughts,

Or a sensation,

An emotion,

Anything that stands in between you and feeling okay,

You can name it,

And then placing it down.

Perhaps you can off this guided recording so you can take time to set everything down,

And whenever you feel like you're more spacious and present from within,

Then you can play back this recording to continue.

Welcoming you back,

Noticing how you are in this moment.

Take a few gentle breaths here,

Allowing yourself to rest in this okay place.

Just take your time.

Knowing this practice is available to you in any moment of anxiety,

Stress,

Or overwhelmness.

It is a way of you returning back to a sense of peace and spaciousness.

And so take your time to feel into this okay place,

And then whenever you're ready,

You can return back to your body,

To the room you're sitting in,

As you come back to your day with this sense of okayness.
