Yoga Nidra: Sacred Intention
Yoga Nidra and sacred intention. A lying down meditation for mind body healing. See your intention unfold.
Transcript
Yoganitra is a lying down meditation.
Usually the palms are facing up.
Whole body relax.
To support the back it's good to have something underneath the knees.
Some weight on the belly if possible.
And something over the eyes to reduce the heart rate.
When we come to the practice of yoga nidra we choose a sankalpa.
This is a positive mind body intention that leads you towards your goal.
It's a short statement.
And it's present moment and slightly future based.
So I am experiencing good health in this moment.
So I continue to experience good health everyday.
So bring to mind your sankalpa.
Usually we work with the sankalpa for as long as we need to see it unfold in our everyday life.
This sankalpa has great power to change our physical and mental patterns.
Good again repeat the sankalpa.
Feel into the left side of the head and the left hemisphere of the brain.
Move your attention deeply to the left hemisphere of the brain.
Feel to the right hemisphere of the brain.
The right head,
The right side of the head and the right hemisphere of the brain.
Realising the difference between the two sides.
Allowing the body and mind to fully unite with that experience.
Come back to the left side of the brain and then allow your awareness now to criss cross over to the right arm and feel the whole right arm.
And allow that arm to deeply relax and let go.
Bring your awareness to the right side of the brain.
And criss cross over to the left arm.
And feel the whole left arm.
And allow the left arm to completely let go.
Melting,
Sinking,
Deeply relaxing that arm into the earth beneath you.
Bring your attention once again to the left hemisphere of the brain.
Criss crossing over to the right leg.
Feeling the whole right leg from the hip to the toes.
And with each out breath consciously relaxing that leg.
Feeling that whole leg to deeply relax and let go.
Bring your attention now to the right hemisphere of the brain.
Again feeling that whole area inside and outside.
And criss cross over to the left leg.
Feeling from the hips to the toes.
Internal,
External.
And with each out breath letting that leg gently melt,
Soften as you let go.
Both arms fully relaxed.
Both legs fully relaxed.
Repeat your sankalpa.
Your positive mind body intention that leads you with unwavering faith towards your goal.
Each thought is very powerful.
Such is the science of mind body medicine.
Drop your attention into the heart space,
The chest,
The spiritual heart of the body.
And let the whole chest area soften.
Good,
Drop your attention further deep down into the navel center.
And with each out breath fully allow the body to relax and deeply let go.
Coming to the place of steadiness and ease.
Resting deeply in this moment.
And finally be aware of the whole back.
Feeling into every muscle of the back.
Feeling into the spine.
Any restriction or tightness just breathing to that point and consciously and deeply with your whole heart letting go.
Let the body melt,
Sink,
Drop into the earth.
Consciously and deeply letting go.
And really feel your sankalpa,
Your intention unfolding in this moment and every moment there after.
Feel this sankalpa unfolding in the cells,
In the muscles,
In the bones,
In the brain of your body.
Release mind,
Body,
Medicine.
Taking your last breath allowing the whole body to fully let go.

I have been doing Yoga Nidra for years here on Insight Timer and this is the very best Nidra I have found. Despite the sound quality (which others have mentioned), it provided the deepest relaxation of the mind and body that I have ever experienced. I will bookmark this and return to it again and again.

I love your meditations, and this one especially. You really have a gift. I would love some more, and, as someone else mentioned, a sleep meditation. I do wish that the end wasnโt abrupt. Since you donโt guide us out of the mediation, I may use it to relax before sleep.
