From your comfortable position,
Let yourself breathe deeply into your belly,
Feeling the belly rise as you inhale and fall as you exhale.
No need to strive or push yourself to breathe.
Just simply let your breathing be natural and gentle and allow your mind to notice the belly as it fills and empties and the lungs as they expand and contract.
Then bring your attention to the area of your chest and your heart.
See if you can notice your heartbeat,
This small electrical pulse that keeps you living through every beat,
Through every breath.
Begin to feel the love from your heart to you,
To your body,
Your mind and spirit.
You might feel this love as a warmth or a light or simply the gentle touch of your skin against the place where you are sitting.
Let this love swirl throughout your whole body,
Down your shoulders and your arms and your hands.
Through your chest and belly and back,
Down your hips and legs and feet and toes,
And up through your neck and throat,
Jaw,
Face and head,
The whole body held in open,
Loving kindness.

Now in your mind's eye,
Begin to see or sense a friend of yours,
Someone on this creative journey with you.
See their face in front of you.
Let yourself reflect on the particular qualities and gifts this person has.
And repeat silently to yourself,

And now in your mind's eye,
Begin to see,
Sense or feel the presence of a teacher,
Guide or mentor.
It could be someone that you have known personally in your life,
Or a spiritual figure who means a great deal to you.
As you sense their presence in front of you,
Reflect on their particular qualities and gifts.
And repeat silently to yourself,
May you be happy?
May you be healthy?
May you be creative?
May you be at peace?
Now in your mind's eye,
Begin to see,
Sense or imagine a younger person who looks to you as a guide or teacher or mentor.
As you sense their presence in front of you,
Reflect on their particular qualities and gifts.
And imagine looking into their eyes and repeating silently to yourself,
May you be happy?
May you be healthy?
May you be creative?
May you be at peace?
And now imagine all the beings around the world,
The birds who make their nest,
The flowers that bloom in the garden,
The trees whose limbs reach to the air and the light.
All the animals,
Birds,
Plants,
All the human family,
Every being alive on Earth.
And repeat silently to yourself,
May we be happy?
May we be healthy?
May we be creative?
May we be at peace?
Gently begin to bring your attention back to the self.
Feeling the breath moving in and out of your body.
Your body in the present time.
And the present season.
Filled with loving kindness.
Living in a world filled with loving kindness.
