Welcome.
Find a comfortable way to sit.
It could be leaning against a wall or sitting in a chair or sitting on the floor.
And then close your eyes.
Just take a few deep breaths and really land in this moment.
Observe how you feel right now.
Today's meditation technique is using a mantra,
Also known as an affirmation.
And we use a mantra to keep the mind truly focused on the here and the now and really focused and tethered to the words that we are internally repeating.
Meditation has less to do with being perfect and more to do with staying present in the moment and what better way than by using a mantra that you've created by yourself.
I'd like for you to think about something that you're focusing on in your life or something that you're wanting to invite in.
Some kind of shift perhaps that you're naturally moving towards.
And I'd love for you to try to kind of boil that down into a simple mantra.
And I will suggest that the mantra begins with,
May I feel or I am.
You could insert one word or a couple of words,
Make it brief.
Your word could be grateful or gratitude or acceptance,
Joy,
Playfulness,
Curiosity,
Love,
Grounded,
Whatever word comes to mind.
Going with your instincts on whatever is right.
And remaining as still as you can and really alert as you can start to repeat silently to yourself,
May I feel your word or I am.
Your word.
Repeat over and over again to yourself and stay very focused on this mantra.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Notice when your attention wanders and bring it back to your mantra.
The mind needs training.
So you'll always need to guide it back to the words that you're focusing on.
If you find that your eye muscles have tensed up because you're concentrating so hard just relax across your face.
May I feel or I am.
Thank you.
Thank you.
The mind is very powerful any way you look at it.
For better or for worse.
And just trust that you've spent some time improving the habits of the mind.
Your thoughts can create or instigate great changes in your life.
Bring your palms into prayer.
Thank yourself for this time.
Thank your insight for knowing what words are best for you.
Namaste.
