Your body speaks to you through the language of sensation.

Are you listening?

Are you getting regular updates?

Or are you too busy to notice?

What exactly is happening in your body and your mind?

Welcome to your Daily Whisperer.

I am Cara Bradley.

I am bringing you quick hits of motivation to help you dial in your practices and lifestyle habits so that you can get on with the business of living your best life.

We are getting back to basics in this new series on Mind-Body Communication.

I have to tell you,

It's so simple and elementary that I feel a little uncomfortable teaching it.

The last episode I talked about updates.

This idea of tuning in to what your body is streaming to your mind 24-7,

To what your body is nudging you to hear,

I'm hungry,

I'm thirsty,

I'm tired,

I'm tense,

I'm good.

What's the update?

What is happening right now in my body and my mind?

Today's whisper is a reminder to do just that.

It's a reminder to remember to check in with your body and your mind moment to moment,

Hour to hour,

Maybe just once or twice during the day.

It's a reminder to prioritize yourself,

To actually pay attention to how you feel right now and what changes you might need to make.

Again,

Back to basics and I'm feeling a little uncomfortable.

The last thing I want to do is insult your intelligence.

The last thing I want to do is to tell you what to do,

But what I am hearing more and more from the clients I'm coaching these days is that the basics are necessary.

We get so caught up in all of the to-dos,

The speed,

The noise,

The news,

That we actually forget to remember to listen.

We forget to pay attention to our bodies until something goes wrong.

We forget to prioritize ourselves and then we wonder why we're lacking energy,

Why we can't focus,

Why there's no spark,

Why we feel like crap.

So today's whisper is a reminder to go back to the basics of listening to the simplest sensations,

Urges,

Impulses that we were born to understand.

Hunger,

Thirst,

Fatigue,

Cold,

Hot,

Tension,

Discomfort.

When we become fluent in those basic updates,

We start to build the muscle to recognize when we're not those things,

When we're not hungry,

When we're not tired,

When we're not cold,

Hot,

Tense,

Uncomfortable.

We start then to build the muscle to become familiar with feelings of well-being,

Feelings of being balanced,

Feeling satisfied,

Feeling present,

Feeling content,

Feeling confident and clear and calm.

So going back to basics means starting with what is so innate in us to understand these impulses that come through us that babies are telling us all the time.

To go back to basics and build the muscle to remember to get the updates,

To ask your body for updates because once we start to build that muscle,

We start to become finally attuned to our body-mind communication,

To what's happening moment to moment.

We start to prioritize our state of being and make little shifts,

Which we'll get to in the weeks ahead,

Little shifts to bring us back to strong,

Calm,

Clear more often.

And if there's anything that we need in this world that we need from each other is a sense of stability,

A sense of groundedness,

A sense of calm,

Clarity.

So I'm here to remind you,

My friend,

To listen.

Listen to your body all day long.

Ask yourself questions.

Ask for updates.

Take note of what's being transmitted through your body to your mind.

And from there,

We build that muscle to start to understand what it feels like to be strong,

Calm and clear and what we need to do to come back.

And that is what this series is about.

It's really tuning in to mind-body communication and to honing the skills that you already have,

By the way,

To building those skills,

To using those skills so that you feel more centered,

More calm and clear more often.

So we have to start somewhere and we might as well start back at the basics.

Thank you for listening.

Thank you for being here.

And if this was helpful,

Please consider sharing it with a friend.

They may need this whisper today.

I'd appreciate it and they might too.

Be well.
