Recently,
My son reminded me,
We don't have to rush.
In fact,
We don't.
So often we are focused on what's next and getting there fast.
We don't take time to sit in what is and rest in knowing we are safe and secure.
So in this meditation,
If only for a moment,
Don't rush.
Rest right here.
Take a deep breath in.
Let it lazily fill your lungs.
And as you exhale,
Don't force it out.
Let it leave slowly.
Take another long and deep.
Fill your lungs and concentrate on the filling of your chest.
Rising and falling.
Focus on the air streaming through your nose.
In and out.
Nice and slow.
Don't rush the next breath after this one.
Hold the space.
Inhale.
Hold.
Exhale.
Hold.
Do that a few more times for as long as it feels comfortable until you no longer anticipate what's next.
Hold until you're stuck here where everything is safe and secure.
Be here.
Don't rush.
I won't call this meditation over.
Although my voice will stop,
The music will end.
But take your time with your breath.
There's no rush.
