Hi everyone,
I'm Caitlin Rose Kenny and this is a short meditation that is synced up with your breath and noticing or feeling the qualities of both your own body as well as the horizon.
The horizon represents a boundless,
Formless,
Infinite light experience.
It represents more of the side of us that connects to spirit and spirit is something that is much bigger than us although it does exist inside of us as well.
Some people refer to spirit as the divine or as God,
Greater consciousness,
All consciousness.
It's a really tough to define experience but it's an experience that we all share and can tap into throughout our lives or even moment to moment.
I love the word horizon because it really indicates this kind of hopeful quality that is not defined like everything and anything is possible out at the horizon.
Then in contrast with the horizon is your experience in your own body in this moment,
In your current life and every time we return to the body it returns us to our present moment which is really powerful.
It also returns us to our individuality and our unique experience as it's unfolding right now.
These two things,
I use the word contrast because they are in contrast to one another but it's not just that,
They help us understand each other.
When we feel the infinite we have a much better capability of then feeling ourselves and knowing ourselves and vice versa,
Deep knowing of self actually creates a portal to the horizon or to this connection to spirit.
This portal or this relationship that's between the horizon and the unique self or as I'll be referring to it in this meditation,
Your body is really important to just query and to also be okay with them feeling like they're leading to one another or feeling like they exist within one another.
Just like there's a little bit of yin inside of the yang piece and there's a little bit of yang inside of the yin piece,
This is how contrast and oppositions work.
It's not that they exist separately,
It's actually that they exist together always.
They are inseparable.
They always lead to each other and how can we gracefully explore,
Wholly explore each piece and feel its segue to the other side,
Feel the balance and feel this human experience as one that is absolutely defined by our unique path in life and our unique soul and personality.
Then also this deep connection that we have with everything around us,
Our deep connection with the horizon,
With the ocean,
With the mountains,
With the animals,
With the trees,
With the flowers,
With the other humans around us.
It's a dance between knowing self and knowing this greater energetic compost that we all come out of and then return to when it's all said and done.
So with that I will move into this meditation and I hope you enjoy it.
Come into a comfortable seat and make sure that you can stay here for about 10 minutes.
Once you find your seat,
Place your hands comfortably and intentionally.
You can either rest your palms on your legs,
Rest the back of your hands on your legs so your palms are open and up to the sky or you can fold your hands in your lap with your palms up and your thumbs touching and feel your lower body grounding everything from your hips downwards,
Getting heavy,
Comfortably sitting on the ground.
And feel your spine like the stem of a plant,
Gracefully reaching upwards,
Relaxed and flexible.
Your chest and your head are light,
Gently lifting upwards.
You can close your eyes or you can have a soft still gaze.
Gently deepen your breathing,
Lengthening your exhales and expanding your inhales.
Feel your breath like a gentle wave expanding you and quietly retracting you.
Move the seat of your awareness into your heart,
The physical space of your chest.
You might feel some of your energy fluttering back up into your brain and see if you can move it downwards.
Sit or rest in your heart.
Imagine golden threads extending in a 360 all the way around,
Out of your chest and towards the horizon.
These golden threads can move through all kinds of space,
Empty and full until they tether out at the horizon.
Thousands of threads from your heart to the horizon in all directions.
Let your awareness now ride along these threads.
Every time you exhale,
Move down the threads out into the horizon.
Every inhale,
Move back up the threads into your heart,
Into your body.
Every exhale,
Feeling the horizon,
Light and infinite space.
Every inhale,
Re-remembering your precious body.
Find ease as you breathe,
Exhales flowing down the threads,
Melting outwards,
Letting go of all form.
Inhales like an electrical current easily flowing up the golden threads into your heart,
Into the sculpture of your body.
You can dwell out at the horizon,
Empty of breath if you like.
You can also linger in your body,
Full of breath.
Find your own rhythm flowing between the horizon and your body.
You can dwell out at the horizon,
Empty of breath.
You can dwell out at the horizon,
Empty of breath.
You can dwell out at the horizon,
Empty of breath.
You can dwell out at the horizon,
Empty of breath.
You can dwell out at the horizon,
Empty of breath.
You can dwell out at the horizon,
Empty of breath.
Start to connect with your inhales a little bit more so that you are re-inhabiting your body.
Feel your form and your density,
The elements of your architecture,
Your skeleton,
Your internal organs,
Your lungs and heart,
Your brain,
Your senses,
What you can hear,
What you can smell,
What you can taste,
What you can feel.
Begin to wiggle your toes.
Grab your chin down to your chest and blink your eyes a few times.
Noticing what's around you,
Pick your head back up.
To close this meditation practice,
Fold your palms together in front of your heart.
Raise your heart as you bow your head inwards down into your own precious body.
And as you look up,
Re-remember the horizon and the infinite possibility.
Thank you for meditating with me today.
