Sometimes rest can feel like it's something you have to earn. This meditation is an invitation to let go of that, it's permission to take seven minutes to just be in this moment. You don’t need to achieve anything, fix anything, or justify anything. Just for these few minutes, allow yourself to soften, to breathe, and to remember that rest is your right, not a reward.

Hi everyone,

I'm Kate.

Welcome to your meditation.

You can begin by coming into a comfortable space,

Either lying down or staying seated.

And then start to allow your body to settle into the surface beneath you.

Let your hands rest gently,

Your shoulders softening,

And if it feels safe,

You can gently close your eyes.

For the next 7 minutes,

Give yourself permission to rest,

Permission to be fully here in this moment.

Just for 7 minutes,

Whatever you feel you need to do,

Tasks,

Worries,

Responsibilities,

They can all wait.

This is your time and you don't need to earn it,

You don't need to justify being in this moment.

And simply allow yourself these 7 minutes to breathe,

Soften and to be right here.

We'll start by taking a few intentional slow breaths,

Breathing in through your nose and breathing out through the mouth.

Again,

Slow breath in and a long breath out.

You can continue for a few rounds just like that.

And with each exhale,

Begin to notice if there's a tension,

A weight you've been carrying,

A weight that you can now release even just a little.

Rest is not something you need to earn,

Rest is not a reward,

You are allowed to rest exactly as you are in this moment.

And with every exhale,

Allow the body to become a bit more weightless,

A little bit more at ease.

Feel the shoulders dropping,

Relaxing as you breathe out.

Feel the body sinking into the space beneath you.

And if your mind whispers that you're not ready,

That there is still work to do,

Gently place a hand over your heart and breathe into that space.

Imagine the hand as a soft reminder,

I am safe,

I am allowed,

I've done enough.

Continue to breathe,

Allow your body to ease into the space beneath you.

And with every exhale,

Release that weight you've been carrying,

Breathe,

I am safe,

I've done enough.

And with every exhale,

Allow the body to become a bit more weightless,

You might notice thoughts that urge you to do more or to fix things before you rest.

Acknowledge them without judgment,

And then take a deep breath in,

And as you breathe out,

Give yourself permission to rest in this moment.

Rest is nourishment,

Your body,

Your mind,

Your spirit will need these pauses to repair,

Integrate and to simply be.

Let each breath be a gift that you give yourself right now.

Take a few moments here to breathe easy and remind yourself it's okay to rest,

I am safe,

I can let go,

Even just a little,

Even for this moment.

When you feel ready,

Slowly begin to deepen your breath,

Wiggle your toes,

Your fingers,

And then when it feels right,

Gently open your eyes.

Know that this is the space that you create,

That rest is the permission you give yourself over and over again.

Thank you for joining me for this meditation.
