Hello again.
We're very glad to have you back here,
And this time to do this extra practice that we call rediscovering appreciation.
You know,
Sometimes we go through difficult times in our life,
And we start to wonder what we did wrong to end up in such a situation.
Athletic life,
We know it's very competitive and can get very tough and stressful sometimes.
And the consequences of such a high stress starts to consume our motivation,
Happiness,
And even love for sport and for our own life.
But when we work on our minds,
We start to recognize some mistaken attitudes and ideas that we have.
And we come to realize that our experiences depend upon our perception and feelings about things.
Thus,
If we don't learn to appreciate our lives,
We will allow our mind to focus on that surviving feeling,
Which will lead to the accumulation of negative sensations and the denial that even the negative experiences have some inherent good in them.
The starting point now is to change the way we feel about ourselves and our lives.
We many times blame,
For example,
Society for many negative aspects of life,
But this type of behavior will never solve our problems.
Additionally,
We sometimes believe that everything is our fault,
And this feeling of self-punishment does not allow us to accept that we do not have control over everything in life.
However,
Changing our mindset is one of the things we do have control over,
And taking responsibility to balance the way we perceive things is what can bring happiness to ourselves and others.
So,
Before we start,
I would like to warn you that this extra exercise can be very powerful indeed,
But it should be done carefully.
Here,
You will have to be honest with yourself,
And this might be very difficult if you have been nourishing an overestimated or an underestimated view of yourself and of your potential.
Discovering your current and true capabilities and limits will allow you to know exactly what needs to be done to strengthen your mind and rediscover appreciation for anything you do in life.
So,
Are you ready?
Let's start.
So again,
Sit comfortably in a nice and quiet space with your back straight,
With your eyes open,
Take a deep breath,
Breathing in through your nose,
And out through your mouth.
Feel your whole body sinking on the floor.
Again,
Breathing in through your nose,
And out through your mouth.
Feel your muscles relaxing,
And let your eyes start closing gently.
And with the next breath,
Close your eyes completely.
Now,
Let's settle the mind by breathing normally in and out through the nose for a moment.
Focus on the feeling of the air touching your nostrils,
Or on the movement of your belly expanding and contracting with each breath.
Now,
Let's move on to the next exercise.
So,
Breath in through your nose,
And out through your mouth.
Now,
Generate an honest and altruistic motivation for doing this exercise.
For example,
You can say mentally,
May the understanding of myself brings peace and clarity to my mind.
Or you can say,
May we all find clarity and appreciation for our lives.
Think about the motivation and focus on the feeling that it will induce in you.
You can say,
May we all find clarity and appreciation for our lives.
Now,
It's time to start losing weight.
Now it's time to start looking inside yourself.
Start identifying your potential and your positive qualities.
Think of qualities you may have such as intelligence,
Courage,
Strong heart,
Dedication,
Kindness,
Compassion,
Generosity,
And so on and so forth.
Now,
Remind yourself that all these qualities can be inner.
You can say,
May we all find clarity and appreciation for our lives.
Feel happy for having such qualities and this amazing potential inside of you.
And may we all find clarity and appreciation for our lives.
Now let's show it self.
Now,
Gently think of the negative things that impact your life.
Be careful now.
Do not engage with them.
Just look at these experiences and feelings as if they were in a TV.
Just observe them and take mental notes.
Now,
Remind yourself that these feelings can be reduced and eventually disappear if you make the effort to nourish positive feelings.
In fact,
Realize that even if your situation is not as good as you wish it was,
And even if you have to go through challenges and difficulties,
You can always improve your life.
It may take some effort,
But you can do it.
Think about how strengthening your mind can help you with this.
This is just one way.
Now,
Because you have analyzed both sides of the coin,
Take some time to think of the possibilities that are open to you now.
See if you can feel a sense of joy by realizing how much potential you have and the great things that you can still achieve.
Focus on this feeling now for a little bit more.
Feel every second emotion in your body.
And with the next breath,
Get back to sensing the sounds around you.
Breathing through your nose and now through your mouth.
Feel your senses returning.
Breathing and now.
And with the next breath you will open your eyes completely.
Take some time to contemplate this feeling.
What is this feeling that you are feeling right now?
Did you discover something interesting about yourself today?
It is important to be confident but also honest with yourself.
This is what makes us appreciate who we are and understand that we can really do something great.
But don't worry,
Little by little and one step at a time you will solidify this feeling.
Again,
It requires an honest effort to identify and accept both positive and negative traits that we may have.
This however is how we will find the aspects that we need to nourish and the ones that we need to eliminate.
Remember,
We are full of potential to do great things.
We just need to change our perspective about ourselves and our life.
It may not be easy and it won't be easy sometimes but it can definitely be done.
