Hi,

It's Brooks and it's good to be here with you.

Today we're going to talk about how you're enough as you are.

So we're going to do a meditation and I'd like to ask you to find a comfortable place to sit or to lie down and when you've done that then close your eyes.

So as you're resting there,

Notice your breath coming in and going out.

The breath comes in and the breath goes out.

It happens automatically.

There's something very relaxing about noticing the process of our breath.

There's peace of mind too that comes from noticing our breath because that part of our life is taken care of.

We've actually got the most important thing that we need in our life is our breath.

Because we breathe that allows us to be alive and to experience life.

And if we're not alive,

Nothing else matters.

So you've already got the thing that you need the most.

With every breath it's a very quiet reminder.

And that allows a lot of the other needs that we have swirling around in us.

Unsatisfied needs.

It allows us,

Allows those to fall away or to diminish.

Because again we have the most important thing we need.

Constantly.

We have our heart beating.

Another need covered.

Our heart is beating.

Your heart's beating right now.

You can feel it.

You can put your hand on your chest.

You can feel that beat.

You can relax some more because you have another top need taken care of.

When you look at your body,

So many of the processes,

I mean they're all taken care of.

The blood's being pumped through your body.

Your senses are working.

You can you can hear me talking.

If you have an itch on your head,

You move your hand up and you scratch the itch so you're able to move your body.

And all happens automatically.

Again more things taken care of.

And really important things.

It's easy to take some of these things for granted because they're always there.

But then here they are.

It's nice to notice them.

And like you watch your,

You watch and notice your breath,

Your heartbeat that you can hear.

You can also notice thoughts.

Thoughts come and go.

It's either a stream of thoughts,

A stream of thinking,

Or a stream of feelings.

So those are taken care of too.

Everything's taken care of.

You might have a thought,

Oh yeah,

But what about this and this thing?

And you notice those thoughts.

You're aware of those too.

It's interesting how those thoughts are so tiny compared to like I have my breath.

I have my heartbeat.

Yeah but I wish I was more,

Alright,

I wish I this and you know all those things that can come up.

And you notice them.

You're aware of them.

And they subside as you notice them.

They rise up and they go back down.

They rise up and they go back down.

So the one constant out of all of this is that you're aware of all these things.

You're aware of your breath.

You're aware of your heartbeat.

You're aware of your thoughts and your feelings.

You're aware of sensations on your skin.

You're aware of sounds.

You're aware of smells.

If your eyes are open you'd be aware of things in the room.

You're aware of your body.

And that's the one thing that remains the same.

That awareness of all these all these things.

You're like the onlooker of all these things.

From this place you're enough.

From a place of being aware you're enough.

Awareness itself doesn't have any needs.

Awareness is aware of needs.

It's aware of the breath.

It's aware of the heartbeat.

It's aware of the body.

It's aware of frustrations.

It's aware of joys.

It's aware of sadness.

It's aware of anger.

It's aware of love.

It's aware of memories that show up.

It's aware of judgments.

It's aware of pain.

It's aware of fear.

Awareness is essentially a place of kindness.

And here you are.

And you're enough.

We usually don't notice this space of awareness because life can get really loud.

We can get caught up in the things that are going on around us.

Get very involved with it.

In a sense identify with some of these things.

So our whole world becomes what we're worried about or what we're angry about or what we're frustrated about or feeling a lack.

And when we get overwhelmed,

When we lose touch with ourselves,

Then we feel like we're not enough.

And in some ways that's true at that moment because we've forgotten who we are.

And when we remember who we are,

We feel there's a sense of being enough as we are.

By being alive.

By existing.

By being aware.

Regardless of what's happening.

Regardless of the pain or frustration or whatever that's going on.

We're enough because we're present to ourselves in the midst of whatever chaos is going on.

And now that we've tapped into it like this,

The remembrance can come up spontaneously when you forget.

You're in the middle of a bunch of overwhelm,

A bunch of pain,

A bunch of suffering.

In comes this quiet sense of remembrance.

Oh yeah.

I'm aware of this overwhelm.

I'm aware of this pain.

I'm aware of the suffering.

So it mustn't be any of those things because you can't be what you're aware of.

You have to be separate from something to notice it.

And then there's a peace with that understanding.

And awaits an understanding without thoughts.

There's a knowingness.

Oh yeah.

And this is an easier way to live because you could have a list of,

Oh these are the things I need to be okay.

Or when these things happen,

Then I'm going to be enough.

But we know from experience we've had those thoughts before,

We get certain things,

And maybe we're okay very briefly,

And then we feel un-okay again.

But now we have this different understanding.

Now that we know that we're more than all those things combined.

We are enough.

As we are.

No matter what.

So we're going to end our meditation now.

And you can stretch and open your eyes,

Look around.

Take in a breath,

Deep breath.

And congratulations on taking this very intimate,

Deep look at yourself.

And be curious to see how it shows up in your life.

I wish you the best.

Take care.
