Welcome to this guided meditation to help yourself find an inner peaceful place when you need it.

I invite you to find a position where your body can be supported and your mind can remain alert.

This could be laying down or seated in an upright position.

If it feels available to you,

I invite you to close your eyes or soften your gaze looking down and forward.

And take a moment to settle in here,

Allowing yourself to land in this space and arrive to this meditation.

Gather your attention and let it rest on your physical body.

The only thing to do here is to notice.

Notice where there might be tension or ease.

Perhaps an emotion,

Sensation,

Thought or image is popping up.

And simply notice and observe your present experience without judgment.

And bringing your attention to your breath,

Perhaps begin to lengthen your inhales and your exhales.

Breathing in and breathing out.

And allow your breathing to center and relax you.

Like the tide coming and going,

This ebb and flow of breath.

Allowing each breath to feel like a wave of relaxation washing over you from the crown of your head all the way down to your feet.

With each breath you feel more settled,

Calm and at ease.

Continue to breathe slowly as you imagine the tension start to leave your body.

Feeling your muscles relax and become more comfortable with each breath.

Letting the rate of your breathing become gradually slower as your body relaxes.

And releasing your attention on your breath.

Allow your imagination to come online as I invite you to create a place within.

An inner peaceful place.

A place where you feel secure,

At ease and relaxed.

Allow yourself some time in finding this place within you.

This could be a place you've been to before.

Or it could be a place built entirely in your imagination.

It could be outdoors or indoors.

Begin to imagine the physical layout of this peaceful place.

And as you look around,

Start to notice what you see.

Colors,

Shapes,

Textures.

Or there's light and shadow.

Maybe noticing stillness or movement.

Spending a few breaths looking around your peaceful place.

Looking at all of the things that signal to your nervous system to relax and feel more settled.

Allow your attention to notice what you feel.

Notice the perfect temperature in your peaceful place.

Notice how the air feels on your skin.

If it's dry or wet.

Warm wool.

If there's a breeze or stillness.

Notice what you can touch.

What can you grasp in this space?

Perhaps explore the texture,

The quality of whatever it is you're reaching for.

What sounds do you hear in your inner peaceful place?

Imagine sounds that soothe your mind and body.

Perhaps you notice one sound.

Or maybe a collection of sounds creating a symphony.

Allow your attention to come to your nose.

As you take your next inhale,

I invite you to imagine what this place smells like to you.

Perhaps you notice one scent that helps you relax.

Or maybe you notice a collection of smells.

Maybe the salt from the sea.

Pine in the trees.

Wood burning in a fire.

Just notice whatever scents bring calmness and relaxation.

Allow your attention to travel to the mouth.

And notice if there's anything to taste here.

Maybe it's a faint taste through your sense of smell.

Or maybe you have your favorite snack.

Your favorite beverage.

Just notice what there is to taste in this inner peaceful place.

Imagine a sense of calm and peacefulness.

Wash over you as you fully relax.

And allow yourself to soften even more.

Immerse yourself in your whole inner peaceful place.

And notice how it feels to be here.

Notice what it is that invites safety in this space.

Notice what that safety feels like in your body.

And give yourself permission to make any changes you need to in your peaceful place to invite safety and relaxation.

Enjoy your peaceful place for a few moments more.

Memorize the sights,

Sounds,

And sensations around you.

And notice what it feels like emotionally,

Physically,

Energetically to be in this inner peaceful place.

And breathe in the peace and safety this place offers you.

And allow the imagery to slowly fade away out of your awareness.

Bringing your attention back to your physical body.

Notice where your body is making contact with the support around you.

Noticing your breath,

The sounds around you.

Just giving yourself a moment to reorient back to your space.

Know that your calm place exists within you at all times.

When you're ready,

You can gently open your eyes.

Thank you for practicing with me today.

And may you take this sense of ease and safety with you throughout the rest of your day.
