Skywriting meditation gently encourages children to observe and concentrate on patterns and colours using mental imaging and visualisation skills. It brings forth the idea of slow time. Suitable for ages 5-13. Created by primary/elementary teachers, our meditations link easily to any school curriculum. Follow-up activities link to positive focus and communication. Relax, look up, and think positive with skywriting!

I'll see you in the next one.

Relax and find a comfortable position in your chair.

Become aware of the stillness within.

And as you breathe,

Expand your lungs with air.

And as you breathe out,

Exhale any busy thoughts and feelings.

Tune into your inner clock and set it to slow time.

This will allow you to focus,

Concentrate and pay attention to detail.

Set your clock now.

We're going on a beautiful journey.

Feel a lovely yellow light radiating all over you.

And taking you to a beautiful field with lush,

Scented grass.

The grass is so soft and lush you want to lie down on it and relax.

Do so and feel the energy of Mother Earth.

As you lie on your back,

You gaze upward into the sky,

Into the blueness.

And it draws you into a deep sense of slow time.

Time to concentrate and focus on one thing at a time.

Continue to gaze at the sky.

The blue brings to mind all the things that you can think of that are blue.

The sky.

The ocean.

Your bedroom wall perhaps.

Your school uniform.

Think of how many things that are blue that you can.

How does it make you feel?

Peaceful.

Cool.

Clear.

Choose one feeling and write it as a word in the sky with your finger.

Colour of the sky now changes to yellow.

Bring to mind all the things that you can think of that are yellow.

The sun.

Bananas.

Lemons.

Now think of how the colour yellow makes you feel.

Cheerful.

Energised.

Happy.

Write one of these words or feelings with your finger in the sky now.

Now allow the sky to change to a beautiful green hue.

Stare at it and recall other things that you can think of that might be green.

An apple.

A mossy rock.

A grassy hill.

How does the colour green make you feel?

Write a word to describe green in the sky with your finger.

Now the sky changes to a beautiful red.

Stare at it.

Recall other things that might be red.

A rose or a cherry.

How does the colour red make you feel?

Write that word in the sky.

The sky now changes to orange.

What things can you think of that are orange?

Lollies.

Ice blocks.

Beach balls.

How does orange make you feel?

Write that word in the sky.

A lavender light now appears in the sky and you feel very focused.

Breathe it in.

It allows you to think clearly.

You feel like you could concentrate forever.

Again,

Move into this slow time.

See how much you can accomplish when you set your mind and inner time clock to this pace.

It's time to come back.

Come back into the real time.

See if you can change and hold that focus for the work ahead.

Wiggle fingers and toes.

So when you're ready,

Open your eyes.
