The 5 elements are as prevalent within us as they are in the natural world. Drawing upon Tibetan elemental practices, this meditation guides you in an exploration of earth, fire, water, air, and space, with a body-centered focus. In a chakra-like progression, you'll build awareness of each element while checking-in with your sense of balance and alignment. When practiced regularly, this meditation can be utilized as a type of esoteric "scan" that promotes reflection, assimilation, and balance.

Transcript

Come to a comfortable seated position.

Take a moment to relax your body,

To relax your breathing,

To relax your mind.

Taking a moment to scan yourself from the very bottom of you,

Your sit bones,

Your feet,

Parts of you grounded with the earth.

Moving that awareness slowly up your body,

Relaxing as you do.

Relaxing hips and belly.

Letting your hands and your arms,

Your chest,

Your shoulders relax.

Letting the jaw open,

Any tension in the throat,

In the face,

In the brow.

Just letting it melt away.

Letting yourself find presence in the now.

Letting yourself find presence in the now.

Now let your awareness move once again back to your sit bones.

Back to the parts of you that are rooting you to the earth.

Your legs,

Your feet,

Your seat.

And as you feel the ground beneath you,

Whether through a cushion or the chair or the earth itself.

Let yourself call to mind the image of a large deeply rooted tree,

Representing the essence of elemental earth and the energy of stability.

This is the energy of inertia,

Of sustainability inside of you.

So pay attention for a moment to what you notice about your sense of earth,

Your sense of grounded stability.

Letting yourself find presence in the now.

Letting yourself find presence in the now.

Now release this image.

Moving your awareness to your sense of water now.

This is your sense of balance,

Of flow.

As you rest your attention on your internal water,

Calling to mind the image of a clear natural lake,

Receive the way water moves in your current experience.

The way water moves in your feelings,

In your body,

In your breath.

Notice where there's balance and flow and where it's become interrupted.

Cheeping like a bird feed the water you you you you you you you you you now let yourself become aware of your sense of inner fire your sense of energy,

Of expansion this is your openness to shining the light of your authentic unedited self notice where and how you feel activated and purposeful and where you feel caught in shadow you you you you you you you you you are you directed from inside or directed from without?

You you again taking a long slow deep breath in and pause for just a moment at the top now slowly exhale pausing again at the bottom before you let your breathing be normal noticing the way space moves and changes as you breath in and breath out noticing space in your body and perhaps seeing the way that space exists in your life and also seeing the ways that space is needed you how open are you right now?

You let yourself relax in this open expanded state of elemental awareness for just a moment now letting whatever comes up pass moving like clouds to return an open crystal clear blue sky you you you you you you you you you you you you you now allow yourself to begin to ground in your sense of earth returning to the bottom of you that's touching and connected with the earth and returning to presence as you return to the here and now and your experience in your body when you feel centered breath in and open your eyes take this insight and elemental awareness with you as you move throughout the days,

Weeks and months ahead thank you gratitude
