Do you find yourself stuck in this overthinking pattern of trying to figure out how to heal either from a physical condition or a mental-emotional condition,
And then not sure even what the next step is to take?
I'd like to share with you how I shift from my overthinking mind,
Which definitely has a tendency to take over being a highly sensitive person,
And into our greatest source of intuition so that we can tap into our own inner wisdom,
Which we all need in order to heal.
Blessings,
This is Brenda Cary,
And I'm a holistic healer for highly sensitive souls,
And my intention for this channel is to share wisdom and insights that I have learned from my own healing journeys so that you can awaken your own inner healer.
And let's have a conversation around how many of us have learned,
Yes learned,
To check out of our physical bodies,
And then all that energy comes up into our minds,
And it creates this pattern of overthinking and overwhelm,
And oftentimes doing similar protocols or similar healing modalities,
And yet expecting different results.
So to give you a little bit of a backstory,
Because I think many of you can relate to this in some way,
My first healing journey was being diagnosed with a spinal condition called scoliosis,
Which is a lateral curvature of the spine.
Back then,
The protocol for it was being put into a plastic back brace,
So think of like a corset,
And it squeezed all of my internal organs as I was developing as an adolescent in hopes that it would prevent the spine from continuing to curve.
That didn't happen,
And eventually I needed spinal fusion surgery at the age of 19.
So consequently,
I had learned from a very young age that my body was not a safe place,
And because of the complications and the surgery,
I had a lot of pain.
Maybe you have,
Maybe not that exact type of story,
But maybe you have learned that your body,
For various reasons,
It could be from surgical issues,
It could be from physical pain,
It could be from abuse,
It could be from trauma,
Whatever it is,
And so then we have learned to check out of our bodies.
And then all of that energy that is usually grounded in the body,
I think,
Goes up into our minds,
And our reptilian brain goes on hyperdrive,
And we start getting into places of anxiety,
Of overwhelm,
And thus overthinking,
Because we don't have the groundedness,
We don't feel safe in our own bodies.
My invitation for you today is to start connecting in with one of our greatest sources of wisdom,
And that is our physical body.
And you might be thinking,
But how can I do that?
I'm in such physical pain,
And I understand that really,
Really well.
In fact,
It became more familiar to me to be checked out of my body than being checked in.
For me,
It was many years before I was able to recognize that my body was actually a great source of wisdom,
And when I could lovingly begin to reconnect to it in a different way than I had before,
Than before I had surgery,
There was so much healing potential within.
But it was a process.
This was the very first step into reconnecting to my body in a loving way,
And to begin to take all of that energy in my head,
Because I think many of us are like walking heads,
And bring it down into the body.
And again,
This is a process.
So my encouragement to you today is to think of one way that you can,
This is the key word,
Joyfully move your body.
Now notice I didn't say go do a workout or exercise or physical therapy.
That's a different type of healing modality,
Although that can be very important for people.
That's not what this is about.
This is about reintroducing yourself to your body as a healing communicator,
And that was something so foreign to me at the time.
My reptilian brain was just trying to keep me safe,
Trying to prevent me from experiencing more pain.
And when I could begin to lovingly connect to my physical body with movement,
Because as humans,
We are designed to move.
We really are.
And oftentimes when we're in pain,
We stay very sedentary,
And that becomes our familiar.
So oftentimes,
What was the most loving thing for me to do for my body wasn't the easiest thing.
In fact,
It took some nudging outside of my comfort zone to get up off the couch and to move because my familiar had become protecting my physical body by not moving it.
And so thus all that energy goes up into my head,
And I've got a pattern of overthinking and anxiety and negative self-talk.
So again,
How can you move your body joyfully today?
And for me,
It literally started just nudging myself out of my comfort zone,
Getting up from the couch and just going for a brief walk outside.
And for you,
What do you love to do for your body?
And you may not be able to do it to the full expression.
This isn't about injury and working out.
This is about enjoying your human body at this time and being fully present in it without any self-criticism,
Without thinking that it needs to be fixed,
And just acknowledging that it is a great source of communication for you.
How this unfolded for me,
And again,
These are just ideas to spark your ideas of how are you going to move joyfully today?
When I would go out for those walks in the neighborhood,
I noticed there was a playground.
And so I noticed there was a swing set.
I used to love to swing when I was a kid.
So that became my daily joyful movement practice.
I'd take this short walk to the playground,
And then I would just gently swing back and forth.
And I loved the sensation of rocking back and forth and the air against my skin.
As I became more comfortable with experiencing my body as a loving communicator,
I would play my favorite songs and dance around the house.
That could be some ideas for you.
Oftentimes when I could feel the tension in my body,
I would just give it a good shake out.
Shake my arms,
Shake my legs,
Shake my head.
And it's not any big movements,
Especially if you are in some physical pain at this time.
And being able to reconnect to your body in a joyful and loving way.
Because when we do this,
Friend,
When we start bringing that energy grounded into our body,
The overthinking mind starts to dissolve slowly at first.
But then we learn to connect into the wisdom,
This inner wisdom that we all carry that is within our physical form.
And not to say that we are our physical bodies.
We are infinitely more than our bodies.
We are infinitely more than our chattery minds.
This brings us to a place of feeling whole,
Of feeling more than our bodies,
More than our minds,
And feeling connected to something greater.
And that is my encouragement for you.
