Welcome,
Dear one.
Today we'll practice the stillness meditation.
The stillness meditation uses sound and vibration to bring us into a deep state of stillness.
We move from the conscious thinking mind through the layers of consciousness to this ocean of silence within.
I first learned this technique from my teacher,
Saima.
And although this technique is similar to many sound and mantra based practices,
You may find that this specific practice allows you to move from that constant thinking mind into a space of feeling more ease,
More freedom,
More peace within.
As I mentioned,
This is a mantra based practice.
A mantra is a word or a sound that has a very high vibration,
Meaning that it actually activates,
Uplifts,
Energizes something within us when we say this word.
You may think of mantras as belonging to a specific religion,
Such as Hinduism or Buddhism,
But truly mantras belong to no religion.
They are ancient wisdom of the vibrational beings that we are.
So today we will move through two rounds of this practice.
The first round will be a word in English.
Sometimes this can be helpful so the brain has an association with the word as we move into the practice.
For the second round,
We will practice with a Sanskrit word.
Again,
Mantras in Sanskrit have a vibrational frequency that impacts and transforms the energy that we are.
So I invite you to find a comfortable seat if you haven't already.
Close the eyes as you begin to deepen the breath and feel the body begin to settle.
The shoulders relax.
The face and the jaw soften.
As you breathe deeply,
Feel the body all the way down through the central channel beginning to release tension from the throat,
The heart,
Solar plexus,
Belly,
All the way down to the pelvis.
This unwinding is beginning to occur.
To move from the conscious thinking mind through the layers of consciousness into that inner stillness,
We will begin by speaking the word peace out loud.
I invite you to follow my volume and my pace.
We will begin speaking this word quite loudly and then gradually become quieter and quieter until the repetition of the word is a whisper and then the repetition of the word is simply the mouth moving in silence.
And then we'll move into stillness in the body as we continue to silently repeat this word in the mind.
If it's comfortable,
You can have the hands on the lap,
Palms face up toward the sky or any position that feels good for you.
Feel the spine lift up toward the sky and at the same time the hips are rooted and supported.
Again for this first round,
We will use the word peace beginning at a louder volume,
Gradually becoming more and more quiet.
Let us begin.
Take a deep breath in.
Peace,
Peace,
Peace,
Peace,
Peace,
Peace,

And now just moving the mouth.
No sound.
Relax the mouth as you continue to repeat peace quietly in the mind.
Relax the mouth as you continue to repeat peace quietly in the mind.
Relax the mouth as you continue to repeat peace quietly in the mind.
Relax the mouth as you continue to repeat peace quietly in the mind.
Relax the mouth as you continue to repeat peace quietly in the mind.
Relax the mouth as you continue to repeat peace quietly in the mind.
Relax the mouth as you continue to repeat peace quietly in the mind.
Become aware of the breath.
Slowly begin to move fingers and toes.
We'll move into one more round of this practice.
This time we will speak the word Shiva.
Shiva is the energy of pure space,
The infinite nature that we are.
As we repeat Shiva,
We expand into the fullness of who we are.
The body is alert and relaxed at the same time.
Then we will begin at a louder volume and gradually become quieter and quieter.
Take a deep breath in.

Come aware of the infinite space in and around you.
This silence.
This stillness.
Of who you are.
Beyond the mind.
Beyond the body.
Beyond the emotions.
You are an ocean of silence within.
You are all that is.
I am that I am.
Feel these words inside.
I am that I am.
I am that I am.
Stay in this space for as long as you like.
When you're ready to come out of practice.
I invite you to come out very slowly and mindfully.
Thank you so much for sharing this practice with me.
With great,
Great love.
Namaste.
Thank you.
Thank you.
