Hi,
This is Brooks,
And welcome to Everything Spiritual.
And in this meditation we're going to take a look at what's spiritual and the possibility of that everything is spiritual.
It's worth taking this look because,
You know,
Being in spiritual circles you often hear,
Well this is spiritual but this isn't spiritual,
Or this makes you more spiritual,
Or he or she is spiritual or they're not spiritual.
There's all these,
You know,
Opinions about that and it can be very confusing.
So we're going to take a deep personal intimate look within to see what is spiritual.
So I'd like you to find a comfortable place to sit or to lie down and then close your eyes.
Feel that breath come in.
The breath go back out.
Your body breathes in.
Your body breathes out.
Focusing on your breath is very relaxing and very charming.
There's something very soothing about noticing and feeling your breath.
You feel your body draw in the breath and then release the breath.
The body is doing it all.
It's great you don't have to do any of this.
Right now you're basically noticing that you're being taken care of.
Life is respirating you.
It fills you with oxygen rich breath.
When we look this way we realize that life is sustaining us.
Life is living us.
Our thoughts come and go.
Things we do in life they come and they go.
Our body is constantly changing.
But as long as we're alive that one mainstay is the breath.
So maybe we're not our thoughts.
We're not our activities.
And we're not our beliefs because those change too.
And since our body is constantly changing,
Perhaps we're also not the body.
So there's this breath coming in,
Going out.
You can try to stop it but you can only do that for so long before the body starts breathing you again.
So perhaps this breath is life itself.
Without it we're not alive anymore.
We're constantly being infused with the breath.
It's our constant.
Perhaps we could say then that the breath is spiritual.
The breath itself is life.
And spirituality is connection with life,
With the life force.
We're connected with that elemental life force.
And we're not even doing the connecting.
It connects with us.
Since it's always been there,
Since our breath has always been there,
Then perhaps that's what we are.
We are the breath.
And we are life.
And we can't help then being spiritual.
We're always spiritual.
Because we're always the breath.
Because we're infused with the life force.
Because that must be what we are.
Then anything we do is spiritual.
Anything we think.
Can't help but be.
If that's what we are,
Essentially,
Then what else is there?
Now we all have different natures.
And because of that we're going to find different things attractive for us in our lives.
And that's what we do.
We follow our natural tendencies.
Each one of us is different in that way.
So we're going to do different things.
There isn't one thing to do.
There's multitudes of things to do.
And we can't help but follow what we're drawn to.
And for each one of us,
Although we do different things,
Each one of us takes acts that are spiritually motivated,
Meaning life itself motivates us with the breath,
With that energy.
So perhaps we can say then that everything is spiritual.
And there can be comfort in this simple discovery.
Because when we're not thinking this way,
We can have the feeling like,
I'm not spiritual.
Or I'm not spiritual enough.
I need to be fill in the blank in order to be spiritual.
And then we feel unfulfilled.
We feel like we're not enough.
We feel like we're not okay.
I need to be enlightened.
I need to always be intuitive.
I need to always be compassionate.
You can fill in whatever blank you like,
But then we're always lacking in some way or another.
So much simpler to come back to.
The one constant is my breath.
And life breathes me.
Life fills me with that essential energy constantly.
I'm being lived by life.
It beats my heart,
Circulates my blood.
So we're going to end our meditation now.
You can stretch.
Open your eyes and look around.
And congratulations on your discovery.
You're always spiritual.
You can never not be.
And you're filled with life.
With that spiritual element constantly.
This is good spending time with you.
And I wish you the best.
