When you let go of the clutter in your life you feel free. You are no longer held back and buried alive under the things that no longer serve you. You get your life back. You feel alive, and energetic, and creative.

Hi,

It's Brooks and thank you for joining me.

Today we're gonna take a look at freedom and freedom in respects to decluttering.

So my experience of being a Clutterbuster for over 20 years is that everybody at the beginning of a Clutterbust is tense.

You can see it,

You can hear it.

They look very uncomfortable and that's the byproduct of living with things that don't serve you.

Whether they're tangible things or activities in your life or particular relationships.

If something doesn't serve you and you're living with it,

It creates a feeling of tension.

You can't relax around clutter.

So everyone has that pained look in one way or another.

And my experience is when someone recognizes that something's clutter and they remove it,

Remove it from their lives,

They feel free.

The relaxation comes in,

The energy comes in.

You can see the light shine in their eyes.

There's an ease to them and that's a feeling of freedom.

You've been released from the detrimental effects of living with something that's clutter,

That doesn't serve you.

And I think it helps to think about it in this particular way.

Because what happens is we've been taught our whole lives that that things are more important than us.

That we're not enough and when we get whatever it is,

Fill in the blank,

Then we're gonna be okay.

Then we're gonna be enough.

It's like things become a savings account because otherwise we're poor.

But the truth of it is that we are enough as we are,

Regardless of what we have in our lives.

And that goes against the marketing training that we've been given since as far back as we can remember.

And I like to talk about a really matter-of-factly like this.

Because it helps us start to recognize the situation that we're in.

That we're protecting our things more than we're protecting ourselves.

And once we stop doing that,

Once we start taking care of ourselves first,

Then we're free.

And you can't put a price on freedom.

It's one of the best feelings there is.

And it's funny because sometimes the products out there market the idea that you'll be free once you get this thing.

You know you'll have freedom once you get this thing.

But it's a trick.

It doesn't mean that some things,

Some activities,

Some relationships aren't beneficial to us.

That they bring us pleasure.

They bring us good things in our lives.

There are those things.

But there's a lot of things that are clutter that don't serve us.

And we're trapped.

We're buried alive under that stuff.

You wouldn't be listening to this right now if there wasn't a part of you that felt that way.

And the truth is I think we all feel that way.

And some way or another we're buried alive under things that aren't serving us.

And we suffer as a result.

We have less energy,

Less creativity,

Less intuition.

Our health suffers.

So I'm hoping that listening to this gives you this desire to uncover yourself from the clutter.

To have a desire to experience that feeling of freedom.

Which is basically the feeling of you.

The feeling of being alive.

The feeling of being unencumbered.

The feeling of vitality and presence and love and life force.

Feeling alive.

So the way you do this is to begin to begin clutter busting.

And it takes the time it takes really.

Sometimes we see all this stuff.

All the things and we get overwhelmed.

But it's good to set up like doable amounts of time.

I can work on this for half hour.

I can work on this for an hour.

45 minutes or an hour and a half instead of timer.

And you pick up one item during that time and you ask do I like and use this or not.

And you see how you feel.

Does this support me feeling free and open and alive in my life or does this inhibit me and weigh me down and am I buried under it?

Is it restricting me?

It's one or the other.

And when you see that something's clutter and you decide to let it go and take a moment to notice the relief that comes from that.

That a pain has been taken away and you get a piece of yourself back and take a moment to notice that feeling of freedom.

To have yourself there and alive and present.

So the more you start to notice that the more you start to cherish it and want to protect it.

That feeling of freedom.

And you're worth doing that for because you're alive.

Because you exist.

If you're alive and you exist then you deserve to be taken care of by yourself.

You deserve to be treated well.

And the great thing is this is easy to do.

It's simple.

Sometimes it's hard to start.

It's like you know actually setting aside the time and doing it.

But once you do that and you start to look it becomes really clear.

It's like as if you had a plate of food and you took a bite and you ask yourself do I want to keep eating this or not?

Is this delicious to me or not?

Does it taste bad?

In that same way you're looking to see like does this thing feel good when I interact with it or not?

And again this is this is this is the way to cherish yourself and to give yourself that gift of freedom with each thing with each piece of clutter that you discover and then you let go of.

And I say this with emphasis and matter-of-factly because I see it.

I see it in people's faces and it's so great to see someone go from that pained restricted unhappy place to a feeling of openness and aliveness and vitality and that feeling that experience of freedom.

So I wish you the best in uncovering yourself and feeling alive and taking back your life.

Take care.

Bye.
