Presence beyond labels.
To begin this meditation,
Let's close our eyes.
Notice a sound in your environment.
And drop the label sound.
What remains?
Notice a feeling or sensation in your body.
And drop the label feeling or sensation.
Be with what remains.
Notice a thought in your experience.
Drop the label or the contents of that thought.
What remains?
Turn your attention to the physical body.
And drop the labels physical and body.
What is your experience of it now?
Notice the space of presence or beingness within which your experience arises.
Now drop the label.
This is what is.
Your experience as it actually is.
Beyond what the mind says it is.
If a movement arises from this stillness,
Drop the label's movement and stillness.
And allow what is to be experienced as it is.
These concepts,
To a larger or lesser degree,
Take us away from our actual experience.
If we point to presence,
To beingness,
To awareness,
Those labels already define our experience.
In a way they put it in a box that it isn't.
So any concepts should be transcended,
Surrendered,
In order for that which they point to,
To be revealed.
The more we do this practice,
The more we will know the concepts of the mind to be concepts and not the truth.
And we will be able to use these concepts in day to day life,
Knowing them as temporary limited forms emerging from something formless that cannot really be spoken about.
We can appreciate these concepts,
These labels,
Without becoming attached to meaning.
Not putting our experience in a box.
Thank you for listening.
I wish you a day of presence beyond the label.
