Hi everybody and welcome to this live event on exploring natural movement from a non-dual perspective.
As always the event will start with a short meditation followed by a talk that i will do on this topic and then a questions and answers session at the end.
So if you have any questions already please pop them in the chat and if not i'm sure some comments and questions will come up for you as you listen.
So while people are arriving i propose to take a few deeper breaths in,
Close our eyes and sit in meditation.
Notice what is here now.
In non-duality we often talk about effortlessness.
So notice what is effortless in experience.
There is the breath,
The heartbeat,
Sounds around,
Maybe smells,
Maybe tastes.
All of this just arises in awareness,
In experience.
And it requires no effort.
It just happens naturally and effortlessly.
Sometimes we think we are in control of our thoughts and emotions but also notice right here that thoughts simply arise in the moment.
The same is really true about emotions,
About movement,
About anything really.
But we will explore this more in the talk.
Just notice for now what is effortless and what you believe you have control over.
Most importantly notice the spaciousness,
The stillness,
The awareness within which all of these experiences arise.
Whether it's the heartbeat,
The breath,
Thoughts,
Feelings,
Sense perceptions.
All arises within presence here and now.
And this presence,
This awareness that we are remains untouched by experience,
Always in its pristine condition,
Always aware.
It's there before,
During and after each movement,
Each activity which is really an activity of awareness itself.
Let's take a few deeper breaths,
Slowly in your own time.
I'm out of the meditation or stay in meditation as you prefer.
And I will move now into the talk part of this event.
So we just saw that things naturally arise and fade.
Whether it's the breath,
Whether it's the heartbeat,
Whether it's a thought,
A feeling,
A sensation.
It just arises and we are the presence,
The awareness which witnesses this arising and fading of phenomena.
So how to make this practical?
I think this is the question that we all have.
We want to extend this knowing,
This understanding,
This peace that we find in meditation in our day-to-day lives.
So to make it practical for me it's sometimes very helpful to remember that there is no no-doer.
Because often I am torn between two decisions and it feels like one will lead to some consequences,
The other will lead to completely different consequences.
And then I stay in this space of deciding,
Of trying to figure it out.
But just by remembering,
Okay,
There is no doer,
There is a surrender,
A letting go of needing to make a decision.
And also a remembering that the awareness that I am is everything that is in my experience.
And it is changeless,
And it is always whole and complete in itself.
So actually what happens in my life externally,
Internally,
Doesn't change myself,
Doesn't affect who I really am.
And by remembering this also,
The need to make the right decision also fades away.
Because it's just movement,
It's just a effortless,
Ongoing pattern unfolding on its own.
And so that helps with decision making because then I can just kind of sit and wait until the decision is made by itself.
If I can't make a decision,
It means maybe I don't have all the information,
Or it simply is not the right time.
And the more I sit,
Whether in meditation or I do something completely different,
Eventually the answer just comes.
Okay,
Obviously this decision that is the so-called right one,
Or just the next step of the pattern unfolding.
And sometimes it's also very nice to just let the body decide whether I'm in the shop picking food,
Or yeah,
Deciding what to do next.
Maybe this is quite an advanced practice,
But you can still try it out.
To let the body move freely and see where it takes you,
Where it goes,
And let that be a way in which you start living your life,
Trusting the intuition of the body.
And the more I'm on this path,
The more I realize that everything is wisdom.
Whether I am feeling stuck,
Whether I am feeling sick,
Whether I am feeling resistance,
All of that,
And of course,
Flow and ease and intuition and freedom,
All of this is also the same intuition manifesting itself differently in different moments.
So it's nice to know that because by knowing that everything is wisdom,
I no longer resist what is in my body.
It's telling me something,
It is guiding me in one way or another towards something,
Or away from something,
And a lot of the time I feel like it is guiding me towards something else than what is,
But actually the wisdom of the body is telling me,
No,
Stay with this feeling,
Stay with the pain,
Accept what is,
And that's the journey of healing.
When there is a mind-body resistance,
That's often just the conditioning of the body that is conditioned to resist what has manifested out of some kind of unconscious fear maybe.
Of course,
That's not always the case,
And sometimes you have to make changes,
Tell people that they did something wrong,
Take a holiday,
Take a break from your work,
Whatever it is.
Another thing I wanted to talk about is emotions and letting them flow through.
In my last talk last week,
I mentioned the quote by Mooji who says,
I am not a hotel,
If a thought comes,
If an emotion comes,
I'm not here to hold it,
To let it stay for a while.
I am the awareness which allows things to flow through.
So if there is an emotion,
However tense it is,
It is our job to adapt our life to what has arisen.
So yeah,
Maybe making space to allow it to flow,
Maybe writing a poem,
Writing a song,
Creating a painting,
Whatever it takes to express that emotion in one way or another,
And letting it continue its journey or just return to presence,
Be dissolved back into Source.
I recently wrote an article with five formulas for happiness,
And one of them was to balance out the pleasure and the pain.
So sometimes we are put in painful situations or difficult relationships and so on.
So when that happens,
And often it is beyond our control,
It's simply arising effortlessly,
It's the pattern,
Then we can,
If we can of course,
It's not always up to us,
But we can have the intention to create the same amount of pleasant or joyful experiences,
Just to balance it out,
To stay healthy,
To balance the yin and the yang energies within us,
And to keep flowing with life.
One of the last things that I will just mention here is the practice of natural movement.
The first time I discovered it,
I remember feeling so much freedom and joy,
Because it guides the body to move in the way in which it is designed to move.
A lot of the practices today,
In fitnesses,
In even yoga,
Just the way we move our bodies,
It's kind of unnatural,
It's in an unnatural environment,
And it makes us repeat the same patterns,
Focus on certain muscles only,
Certain areas only.
A natural movement is kind of a broader approach to movement,
Which includes things like crawling,
Squatting,
Throwing,
Catching,
Things that we have done throughout our evolution.
So by returning to these more basic movements,
We also develop the body much faster,
Much more intuitively,
Much more in tune with the environment,
And it's a beautiful practice to discover and go deeper into.
I'm running a retreat in April,
And day one will be non-dual awareness,
Day two will be natural movement,
And day three will be dowsing and intuition.
So that's also why I'm doing these events,
To let you know about this retreat,
And I will mention more practices and more tools that have been really helpful in my own life there.
And the last thing that I will mention before the questions and answers is that my path is the path of bringing heaven to earth,
So it's not to suppress the human experience in any way,
It is to allow,
To embrace,
To honor every thought,
Every feeling,
Every movement that arises,
And to embrace it fully,
To love it,
Just like awareness loves and is everything in experience.
So it is about being fully human,
Not being enlightened,
But being spiritually higher or lower than others,
And to loving others as myself,
To be in a space of equanimity,
Balance and equality.
I think I want to talk a bit about the balance between speaking and resting in presence,
Because sometimes it feels like the two are separate or contradictory in one way or another,
But actually by resting as presence,
At least in my experience,
What naturally unfolded was the practice of natural movement.
So I'm not seeking to change my experience or to to become stronger or to develop by moving,
It is an expression of freedom,
Of love,
Of joy to just move the body,
Allow it to do what it wants,
Allow emotions to flow,
And of course it changes in the state of the body-mind,
But it never changes awareness itself,
Which is who I am,
What I am,
And what all of us are.
So I feel like that's an important distinction,
To move without seeking,
You are already at the destination,
But if we just stay as awareness there can be the tendency,
And there often is the tendency,
Of the ego catching the understanding and saying,
Okay,
I don't need to do anything,
Things unfold on their own,
The body will be fine if I stop feeling it right,
If I stop moving it.
No,
Love wants to experience this body as healthy,
As strong,
As balanced,
It wants to serve others through it,
You know,
So taking care of the body is the more loving thing to do than just resting in meditation and waiting for something to happen.
Yeah,
You can feel it when you don't take care of the body,
It gets weaker,
It gets sick,
It gets unhappy,
And that is not the loving thing to do,
That there's something being neglected here which is important.
So now there has been a movement of ideas,
A movement of thoughts,
Maybe feelings,
Maybe some resonance,
Maybe some resistance or questioning,
And now it's up to you to take these ideas,
To make them practical,
To apply them in your day-to-day life,
And I shared in the chat that I will tell you ways on how you can continue these explorations,
So of course one way is the retreat that I mentioned,
It will be in the UK in April,
We can retreat,
And the place is amazing,
And it's just for Perkin people,
So quite a small group,
But I hope to see some of you there,
And another way is my course,
Liberate Your Body,
Non-Duality and Natural Movement,
It's a 10-day course,
It goes quite deep,
And as I said,
It starts with resting as awareness,
But then it goes deeply into the body,
Into movement,
Into being human,
Allowing emotions,
Into different stretches and movements that we can do,
Also a way to balance out the body is to see,
For example,
Where you get fatter,
Where you get weaker,
Tailoring your exercise routine based on how it develops,
We are sculpting our bodies every day,
And they are a reflection of our minds,
Of our beliefs,
So yeah,
You can also through the body see where you are ending towards,
And then go the other way,
Or change the exercise routine,
Or change your diet based on this,
To have a more balanced overall energy and body,
And this course is part of my six-month program Applied Non-Duality,
The Art of Living in Freedom,
And the different months are for different topics,
It starts with non-dual awareness,
Then the mind,
The body,
Relationships,
Free will,
And embodied understanding,
Yeah,
So I've done my best to not only share these ideas,
Tell you what works for me,
But also give you ways to deepen your practice,
Most importantly,
Find what works for you,
Because we are all different,
Varsha,
You ask,
Where does taking action come in non-dual practice,
Inspired action,
Or any action,
In whichever form it comes,
So that's a trick question,
And I've been talking to it throughout this talk,
But from the pure non-dual awareness perspective,
Everything is simply unfolding,
There's no doer,
It's a thought that comes,
Then a feeling,
Then you type your question,
Then I answer,
It's an effortless unfolding of phenomena,
But if the ego then takes that understanding,
It can just say,
Oh,
I'm always in the flow,
I don't need to do anything,
And then you follow the automated conditioning,
You follow the mind says,
You know,
Meet this person,
Go to work,
Exercise,
Sleep,
And you're in a mind pattern,
And you don't make space for the deeper,
As you say,
Inspired actions and desires to come about,
To be seen,
To be heard,
So in that case,
The person doing that would be living from their mind,
Whereas if we then take time to meditate,
I have a practice which is to put your hands on your heart and ask,
What do I really want to do next,
Meditate on this for five,
Six minutes,
Then the inspired action,
The true actions that are aligned with the whole body-mind,
Which are your soul purpose,
Which is what you really want in each moment,
That's what manifests,
So to me,
The true inspired action from a non-dual perspective is returning to the true self,
Making space for the knowing of what you want to come about,
And then to act,
And that seems to imply free will,
Which is why I said it's confusing,
But I think it's a more,
Yeah,
More spiritual,
Spiritually,
So-called spiritually advanced way of acting in the world,
So it just happens naturally,
Once your mind is quiet enough,
Once your body is open enough,
Thanks for questioning,
Let me know if this makes sense,
Optum,
Thank you Parshya,
Thank you everyone,
If there are no more questions or comments,
I think that's all that I wanted to say for today,
Thank you all for being here,
And I hope this has been useful,
I hope that you already have some routines,
Some exercises,
Some insights around movement,
And that this has enhanced those,
Contributed to those,
And that you take what I've shared and apply it in your life I'm very new,
Very nice to see you here,
I will do one more event on dazzling and intuition maybe next week,
So yeah,
I hope to see some of you there as well,
I hope you have a beautiful evening or day ahead,
And see you very soon,
Bye bye for now
