Start by arriving here in your body,
Wherever it happens to be,
Becoming aware of the presence of the body sitting or laying in whichever posture you choose to take for this meditation.
Give your mind permission to release the thought of anything else and to just be here and now with your body,
Allowing the body to take up all of your awareness,
Offering it your reverence,
Your gratitude,
And your devotion.
Become aware of the breath as it moves through the body,
Bringing full awareness to the inhale and to the exhale.
And if you'd like to,
I invite you to deepen and elongate the breath,
Slowly inhaling through the nose,
Feeling the breath travel through the nostrils into the chest,
Filling up the lungs,
And slowly exhaling through the nose,
Feeling the chest sink and the lungs empty.
Inhaling,
Feeling the breath expanding the chest,
Perhaps even expanding the belly,
And exhaling,
Feeling the body deflate as it releases the breath.
Inhaling,
Becoming completely aware of the sensation of the breath entering the body,
And exhaling,
Completely aware of the sensation of the breath exiting the body.
Inhaling,
Feeling the body move with the breath,
Exhaling,
Feeling the body move once again with the momentum of the breath.
With your next breath,
Inhale as if you could breathe directly into your head,
Honoring the cosmos,
The universe,
The stars from which every element in our bodies was formed,
And exhale reverence,
Gratitude,
Devotion.
With your next breath,
Inhale as if you could breathe directly into the base of your spine,
Honoring the earth,
The planet,
The mother of all four elements that are present within our bodies,
And exhale reverence,
Gratitude,
Devotion.
With your next breath,
Inhale as if you could breathe directly into the core of your body,
Honoring the sun,
The solar energy,
The giver of life,
Health,
And abundance,
And exhale reverence,
Gratitude,
And devotion.
With your next inhale,
Imagine that you could see all of your ancestors sitting behind you in a long line,
Honoring those who brought you forth,
Those who lived and endured so that you could exist right here and now,
And exhale reverence,
Gratitude,
Devotion.
With your next breath,
Imagine that you could inhale with every single pore of your body,
Honoring your physical vessel,
The gift of your current existence,
And exhale reverence,
Gratitude,
Devotion.
Now bring your awareness to the very top of your head,
Becoming aware of the crown of your head,
And then letting that awareness drift down to your forehead,
Your brows,
Your eyes,
Your eye sockets,
Your temples,
Your cheekbones,
Your ears,
Your nostrils,
Your upper lip,
Your lower lip,
The corners of your mouth,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw,
Your chin,
The base of your skull,
The back of your neck,
The front of your neck and your throat,
The collarbones,
The shoulders,
The shoulder blades,
The upper arms,
The elbows,
The forearms,
The wrists,
The palms of the hands,
The backs of the hands,
The fingertips,
Bringing the awareness to the breast,
The underarms,
The heart,
The lungs,
The rib cage,
The sternum,
The left side body,
The right side body,
The upper back,
The mid back,
The navel,
The gut,
The hip bones,
The pelvic bowl,
The low back,
The left buttock,
The right buttock,
The groin,
The left hip crease,
The right hip crease,
Moving down to the thighs,
The knees,
The calves,
The shins,
The ankles,
The tops of the feet,
The bottoms of the feet,
The toes.
Breathing now every single body part,
Every single square inch of your physical existence.
Take a breath in,
Breathing into the entire body and breathe out.
Repeat after me,
May this practice honor my body and all of the forces that dwell within it.
Have a great practice.
Namaste.
Namaste.
