This gentle somatic practice invites you to discover the profound wisdom that lives within your body, that felt sense of stability, safety, and deep connection that's always available to you. Through mindful curiosity, you'll explore what it truly feels like to be grounded, supported, and held by the earth beneath you. It's a journey back to one of you inner resources, where you can anchor a felt sense of calm and stability that you can carry with you wherever you go and access whenever you need to be reminded.

I'm going to guide you through a gentle somatic grounding resource practice.

This is all about using your awareness to explore the felt sense in your body of what grounding feels like for you.

We're going to explore what it feels like to connect to that inner resource of grounding.

A felt sense of safety,

Stability and feeling supported in the sense of groundedness.

That lives within your own body.

So let's begin by arriving here together.

I invite you to find a comfortable position,

Sitting with your feet resting on the ground.

Taking a moment to allow your body to settle and noticing that you're here in this space,

In this moment.

If it feels right for you,

Gently allowing your eyes to close or softening your gaze downwards,

Whichever feels most comfortable for you.

And gently and steadily and compassionately,

Bringing your attention inwards towards your body and moving that awareness and attention down through your body towards your feet.

Let's begin to get curious about what you're noticing in your feet.

Perhaps noticing the contact of your feet on the ground.

Maybe you're noticing the contact of your shoes or socks or the temperature of your feet.

You're noticing any pleasant sensations or maybe the feelings or sensations are just neutral.

Let's explore the inside of your feet.

What sensations are there on the inside of your feet?

And now the outside of your feet.

Remember there's no right or wrong way to experience.

There may be tingling,

Warmth,

Pressure,

Perhaps just a felt sense of quiet presence.

The practice is just becoming curious about what's there for you.

Perhaps noticing if your feet want to move in any way.

Perhaps gently pressing more into the ground or maybe your toes are wanting to wriggle or stretch a little.

Just gently following any of those micro movements that feel good for your feet or your toes.

Or maybe your feet just want to explore that felt sense of stillness.

If it feels right for you,

I invite you to imagine some roots beginning to grow down from your feet to the earth below.

Growing down from the soles of the heels,

Down through the floor,

Deep into the air.

Perhaps finding nourishment,

Stability and connection.

Does this nourishment,

Stability and connection feel for you?

What does it feel like for your feet to receive the support from the ground?

I'd like to just invite you to drop into allowing and inviting yourself to receive even more.

The felt sense of being held,

Supported and connected to the ground.

Perhaps you can begin to get curious about the qualities of this feeling grounded.

Sensations,

What are you noticing?

Perhaps there's a felt sense of stability,

Steadiness.

Or something else entirely.

Practice is just being curious about those positive qualities and feelings of groundedness without forcing anything.

It's about just gently turning up the volume of those sensations and feelings and noticing them even more.

Within the noticing of that felt sense of groundedness,

Just explore the qualities of groundedness has for you.

Does it have a color,

A texture,

A quality of any movement or a quality of any stillness?

However it feels for you.

With a gentle curiosity,

Noticing if there are any emotions that come up along with this felt sense of feeling grounded and feeling supported.

Maybe there's a sense of peace or relief or a feeling of gratitude or perhaps something even more subtle.

Maybe any emotions are harder to name and that's perfectly okay too.

Whatever you're noticing,

You're welcoming it with a gentle curiosity without needing to change,

Just acknowledging what you're noticing.

And as we come to the end of this practice,

Before we close,

Let's just now anchor this felt sensation of groundedness into your body.

You can do this by placing your hands on your knees or your thighs or you can choose to press your feet a little bit more firmly even still into the floor.

I now invite you to take a deep breath in and to tune in to those felt sensations of feeling grounded,

Feeling stable,

Feeling steady,

Feeling safe,

Whatever words most resonate for you.

Turning up the volume of those sensations as you press your feet into the earth or press your hands on the top of your knees or thighs.

The pressing down into the earth or onto your legs just helps your body remember to hold this sense of feeling grounded and you can come back to that practice of pressing down into the earth or pressing your knees or thighs whenever you want to access this felt sense of groundedness.

Take a moment to appreciate this resource you connected with,

This felt sense of groundedness and remember you can return to this grounding practice as a resource for you anytime you wish and the more you practice the more you will expand and deepen this felt sense of stability and support.

So now just gently bringing your awareness back to the whole of your body and back into the room around you,

Taking a moment to appreciate your mind for being curious and your body's wisdom for sharing this felt sense of groundedness with you and when you're ready you can open your eyes bringing your attention back to your day and perhaps as an invitation to carry this felt sense of groundedness into your day.

Thank you for joining me in this practice.
