Thank you for joining me for this guided chakra meditation.
Before we get started,
Let's do a little housekeeping for body and mind.
Take your time to find a comfortable seated position.
There's no need to take a formal meditation position,
Sitting cross-legged or kneeling,
If this may distract you from your practice.
Sitting in a chair with a firm back or leaning up against a wall is a good alternative.
You want to keep your spine upright,
But in a way that can be maintained for the duration of the practice.
Bring your hands to rest on your knees or in your lap.
Allow yourself to settle in.
Be kind to yourself as you practice today.
Your mind is designed to think,
So don't worry when you find that you've drifted off into thought.
Simply bring yourself back to your practice whenever you notice.
Keep a beginner's mind.
Have no expectations about what you might experience.
It's okay to readjust how you're sitting if you're in physical discomfort,
And you're welcome to open your eyes if you're in emotional discomfort,
But do stay with the practice to the very end.
In this practice,
You will focus your attention on the seven main centres of energy in the body,
Known as chakras.
Each chakra affects a particular area of our emotional and physical wellbeing,
And as you move through the practice today,
You'll spend a little time meditating on each.
At the very end,
I'll sound a chime to bring the meditation to a close.
Bring your attention inwards by closing your eyes,
Or if you prefer,
Half-capping them,
Bringing your gaze down to your lap or to the floor.
Take three long and deep breaths in and out through the nose.
Allow your breath to return to normal.
Let the body breathe away without intent or control.
Take a moment here to check in with how you're feeling,
Physically,
Energetically,
Emotionally.
No judgements,
No labels,
Just gentle acknowledgement and acceptance.
On your next exhale,
Move your attention to the very base of your spine,
Feeling the weight of your body resting on your root or your muladhara chakra.
This is the centre of support,
Safety and belonging,
Your sense of place in the world.
Imagine your root chakra connecting you to the earth below.
Breathe into your roots as they take in energy and nourishment from the earth.
You may visualise the colour red.
See your roots slowly becoming red,
Grounding you in the here and the now.
Feel the earth supporting your existence and your being.
Silently repeat the mantra,
LAM.
LAM.
Release the mantra and rest here in the awareness.
Move your attention to your lower abdomen,
Just below your navel,
To your sacral or swadhisthana chakra,
The seat of your creative impulse,
Your emotional intelligence and your relationships with others.
Breathe into the lower abdomen and imagine or feel it gently expand like ripples on the surface of a lake,
Flowing and moving freely like water.
You may wish to imagine the colour orange bathing those ripples.
Feel the water nourishing and satisfying all your needs and creative urges.
Silently repeat the mantra,
VAM.
Release the mantra and rest here for a moment in the awareness.
Move your awareness up to the area below your stomach,
The lower abdomen,
The lower abdomen,
The lower abdomen,
The lower abdomen.
Move your awareness up to the area below your sternum,
Between your chest and navel,
To the solar plexus or manupura chakra where your sense of self,
Your self-esteem,
Will power and determination are located.
Imagine or feel the colour yellow bathing your solar plexus like bright sunshine,
Replenishing and nurturing it,
Like the sun nourishes all life on our planet.
As you breathe,
Feel your power getting stronger,
Power to serve,
To help and to nurture other beings and your environment.
Silently repeat the mantra,
RAM.
Release the mantra and rest here in the awareness.
Bring your focus to the centre of your chest,
To your heart or anahata chakra,
The chakra of love,
Compassion and gratitude.
Breathe into your heart space and sense it soften and lighten on your breath.
As you exhale,
Feel it expanding outward as your breath gently caresses everything it touches.
You can visualise the colour green here,
The verdant colour of spring and healing.
Allow your heart to expand and send loving kindness and compassion to all creation.
Silently repeat the mantra,
YUM.
YUM.
Release the mantra and rest here in the awareness.
Move your attention to your throat or vashuddha chakra,
The chakra of communication,
Self-expression and your personal truth.
Breathe into your throat and as you exhale,
See it sending soft vibrations into the ether.
Connect here with a colour blue.
You may wish to lift your chin slightly and feel your energy centre opening,
Freeing your ability to express your truth.
Silently repeat the mantra,
HUM.
YUM.
Release the mantra and rest here in the awareness.
When you are ready,
Move awareness to the centre of your forehead,
In between your eyebrows,
To the third eye or ajna chakra.
This is the home of intuition,
Inner wisdom and insight.
Visualise a deep indigo colour resting on the centre of your forehead,
Bringing clarity and understanding,
Heightening your intuition and your sense of knowing.
Silently repeat the mantra,
YUM.
YUM.
Release the mantra and rest here in the awareness.
Finally,
Let your attention rest on the top of your head,
Your crown or sahasrara chakra and your connection to the divine.
As you inhale,
Think of a violet light softly bathing the crown of your head and gently harmonising you with the rest of creation.
As you exhale,
Feel that light connect with the sky above you.
Feel your oneness with all there is.
Bring your focus now to the rising and falling of your breath.
Feel the perfection of this moment.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and I hope you have a lovely rest of your day.
Namaste my friends.
