My name is Celia Roberts and I run the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation.
Today we'll be looking on meditations and contemplations for healing anemia.
Come to a comfortable position,
Whether you're seated or lying,
And if possible,
If you're lying down,
Make sure you have a pillow or bolster placed underneath your calves.
Once you're ready,
Let's begin by just gently coming to the belly breath.
The belly breath is important to us because in Ayurveda,
This is the level at which we assimilate,
Digest.
When we look at Western medicine combined with Ayurveda,
We see that the person that is in flight or fight is unable to assimilate,
To digest.
The blood flow is at the hands and the feet or towards the head in flight or fight,
And this lends to poor digestion.
In Ayurveda,
We call this Samana Vayu,
And the prana at this region is not flowing correctly.
Therefore,
Assimilations from diet does not take place.
See if you can really allow the belly to become soft with your breath.
We want prana,
Qi,
Blood flow,
And lymphatic flow to improve to this region of the body.
On an energetic level,
In tantric yoga,
We could say that there is a block between the solar plexus and the heart.
This is usually related to the I-thought,
Separation of self,
Related to identification with ego and thought and form.
Be very conscious now of thoughts that make you fearful or angry.
Maybe you could say these silently or repeat them out loud.
Where do you feel this thought in your body as you say it?
Really find how this thought is affecting your body,
Your form.
Feel where the thought is memorized.
Where would you be without this thought?
How would the body feel?
Could this thought be making you unwell,
Unable to assimilate and digest the moment in front of you?
If you believe in the I-thought,
The thought you're having,
The separate self,
This will affect digestion mentally and physically.
Spend some time now softening into the torso.
A softness of torso indicates that you're in a calm state of being.
It allows the vagal tone to increase.
Your nervous system indicates ease.
Your oxytocin levels increase.
And you feel a deep sense of trust.
This is the work of researcher Barbara Friedrichsen.
Softness in the torso,
Sense of ease,
Trust,
Improved nervous system health,
Increased oxytocin,
Our calm and connection hormone.
When the nervous system is calm,
We can rest,
Digest,
And reproduce.
Keep the pranic flow to the belly.
The chi flows strong just with breath alone.
Bring your attention now to the calves.
When the body has been in flight or fight mode,
The calves,
The back of the legs can be tight.
Bring softness to the back body,
Particularly the calves.
We know as we rest our attention into the back body that our nervous system becomes calmer.
We're not racing to be somewhere or racing away from something.
We just simply are.
Bring your attention now to the feet.
Just allow the feet to really soften.
Allow your feet to come out of flight or fight and almost to just fade into consciousness,
Your unified field of consciousness with all that is.
Bring your attention now to the hands.
And again,
Just allow the hands to become very soft.
Relaxation is the key to liberation.
Really allow the hands to become incredibly soft.
No need to run,
To freeze,
Or to fight.
And let the hands fade into the field of your consciousness and the consciousness of all sentient beings.
As we fade our body into that human field of consciousness and all sentient beings,
We begin to open the heart into oneness,
Free of the identification with I,
Me,
Mine,
And the thought form that can be causing us to remain in fear or anger.
Bring your attention fully now into your heart space.
Anemia can sometimes be attributed to losing our will to live.
And so in your own way,
Just really notice,
Does this feel true for me?
With anemia,
Sometimes depression arises,
But perhaps the depression is always there or has been on the heart for some time or in the belly,
In the mind.
And anemia could be a byproduct of this.
So just really allow yourself to be open at the heart level.
And again,
Spread the body out into a field of consciousness that is beyond the human form,
That is alive in everything all around us,
Even inanimate objects.
See if you can fade the body to become one with all,
Part of the beautiful matrix behind all that is.
And recognize without the I thought how beautiful you truly are,
How beautiful it all is,
How spacious,
How alive,
How present and omnipresent that sacred energy behind all objects is and is within you.
See if you can feel the aliveness in your body,
The prana,
The chi,
The ki,
The shakti,
The kundalini shakti.
See if you can feel any buzzing sensation as your body fades into that universal field of consciousness,
Totally united with all that is.
And recognize completely and utterly how beautiful you truly are.
When you recognize your own magnificence,
Your oneness with all life form,
Then we can begin to bow at our own magnificence,
Our inherent beauty,
Our connection to all that is.
May you be happy and may you be healthy.
May you be free from fear,
Worries,
Dangers and anxieties.
May your whole life be truly blessed and may you come to know excellent health and total liberation.
