This track will prepare you for Lucid Dreaming or Dream Yoga. Research shows that lucidity occurs mainly during the early afternoon and early morning hours, so you may practice during the day or night.  This track offers the esoteric teachings of lifting the prana to the throat. Once one is able to lift the prana or Kundalini Shakti to the throat, one will enter samadhi. This is important for supraconscious awareness during sleep, conscious sleep, and lucidity. The Tibetan teachings remind us that we are asleep to reality in the day and awake to reality in the night. These are advanced techniques that require some level of experience. The track has the sound of breath to remind you to breathe. This will take you into the altered state of consciousness, the alpha brain wave state of samadhi. There are no problems at all if you fall asleep as you change your brain wave patterns. In Dream Yoga or the lucid dreaming state, this is encouraged. Let us explore.

Welcome.

My name is Celia Roberts and I am the founder of the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation.

Today I'll be taking you through a very basic practice to begin the process of lucid dreaming.

Take this time now to make sure that you're comfortable lying down and if you wish gently tilt the head back so the throat center is open.

It's here that we want to lift our prana and cultivate energy at this center.

When we can lift the Kundalini Shakti to this region,

The sacred energy or life force of the body,

It is said that we will enter Samadhi or the supraconscious state as explored by science,

Also known as metacognitive awareness.

Gently open your lips creating a very small O-shape in the mouth.

Allow your breath to come through the lips creating a circular breath through your O-shape.

If you're a practitioner of meditation and mindfulness,

It's proven that you will experience more lucidity than someone who doesn't practice on a regular basis.

Lucidity is experienced in the early afternoon,

The research shows,

And also the early hours of the morning before we wake.

Allow the breath to become audible.

Students often call this the death breath and true it is.

This breath allows us to relieve ourselves of maya,

The illusory state of being in the lower chakras and also samsara,

The state of suffering when we believe in the reality that we see.

Make an intention now to become lucid.

Research by Stephen LaBerge shows that intention setting is very important,

That you wish to wake up,

Wake up in the dream state,

Wake up to reality and wake up to the dream.

If the breath is shaky this is very good,

So we want the Kundalini Shakti to rise to the throat center and just let the breath do the work.

If you feel slight waves of energy or ecstasy or sadness,

Perfect.

Be non-judgmental in your practice.

Kundalini Shakti does what it does,

Does what it does.

Notice any signs,

Any symbols,

Any light,

Any colors.

As the brainwave patterning changes and slows to the alpha wave frequency which we commonly see in the samadhi or supraconscious state,

Be aware that you might be gently falling asleep but remain lucid,

So aware that you are dreaming or at this stage even just sleeping.

Now using the breath go a little bit deeper,

Allow the eyes to just gently lift to the third eye.

If the Kundalini Shakti does this naturally this is better than you consciously lifting the eyes up.

So you want the energy to lift from the throat to the third eye,

Opening the granti or the knot to the forehead and when this unravels,

This knot,

It gives rise to the principle of lucidity and the sattvic state,

Even ecstasy for some.

Go as deeply as you can,

Use your breath,

Be very conscious of Shakti,

Kundalini,

Prana,

The miracle of life force moving through you.

Really allow yourself this space,

A sense of spaciousness,

To let go of bodily attachments,

Maya,

The illusory sense of self and form and to see beyond into your divine self,

The true nature of reality.

Remain conscious of your intention to become lucid to the dream state,

To become aware and awake,

To wake up within your dreams.

This means that you become aware of the dreamer.

If there's more length to your breath now,

Take that.

If the breath stops for periods of time and you feel comfortable with that,

Allow that to be.

This is indicative of the state of Samadhi.

Wake up to the mind that creates dreams,

Shapes,

Forms,

Thoughts.

You're becoming aware of the dreamer.

Do not judge your dreams,

Your dreamlike state.

Be open and free to whatever arises and dissipates.

Allow the body to rest deeply but also to completely disappear.

The blood flow to the frontal lobes tends to shut down the flow to the parietal lobes,

Giving us that sense of loss of time,

Self and space.

Notice all dreams,

Symbols and signs,

Colors,

Patterns,

Yantras,

Shapes,

Kundalini shakti,

Breath.

Notice nothingness,

Emptiness.

Notice whatever arises in this moment,

Never to be repeated again.

Constantly changing phenomena.

Don't attach,

Neti neti,

Not this,

Nor this,

Nor that.

All maya,

Illusion,

Part of the dream.

Attached to nothing,

Not even reality,

Nor the waking,

Dream or sleeping states.

Be conscious,

Without judgment,

Just notice.

Notice any thoughts,

Any emotions or images that come to mind.

You're just noticing.

As you get familiar with the practice,

You want to start to notice dream signs,

Objects,

Thoughts,

Images,

People,

Emotions in the dream state.

If your recall is fuzzy or you find yourself attaching,

Grasping,

Remember to come back to the breath.

Focus on sensation and simply allow yourself to be.

Feel free to rest in this state for as long as you wish.

If you're in a very deep state now,

It's the option to close the mouth.

Continue the samadhi breath through the nose.

Prana focused in the throat.

Center,

The third eye center and above the head and beyond.

May you wake up to reality.

May you see the truth.

May you be forever free.

That was very interesting, I didn't expect to have much of an experience the first time, but my mind did go into a lucid dream state with images spontaneously arising.
