Welcome,
My name is Celia Roberts and I'm the founder of the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation,
BioMe.
Today we're looking at positive intent.
So to create positive intent or a sankalpa,
We want to use a short positive statement that leads us towards our goal.
It needs to be present moment and we need to follow it through until it unfolds.
We need to have shraddha,
Unwavering faith that this goal,
This sankalpa will be achieved.
It needs to have a good positive karma or intention or cycle behind it so it creates virtuous cycles for yourself and for others.
So be very aware of where your intent is coming from and its purpose and how it serves you and others around you.
A short statement that's positive and leads you towards your goal.
See if you can come up with one and hold it in your mind's eye.
This is Agna Chakra,
Third eye,
Point between the eyebrows.
Hold the intention there and see your intention unfolding.
Who's around you?
Are you on your own?
What are you doing?
See your intention unfolding.
Drop your intention into your heart's space.
I want you to feel in your heart.
Feel your intention unfolding.
How does it feel in your body?
How does your intention feel in your body as it unfolds?
So you can see yourself in a certain place with or without people.
Now I want you to feel the air,
The light,
The warmth,
The cool,
The dark,
The environment and the feeling within your body as this intention is unfolding.
This has a very,
Very big effect on your immune system and your endocrine system.
So we use the science of psycho-neuro-endocrine immunology to allow your intention to create a feeling,
A cascading effect on your hormonal system,
Your immune system,
Your nervous system.
Repeat the words behind your sankalpa,
Holding this in your heart space.
Drop down into the belly here.
Drop down into the belly.
This is where we cultivate our prana or our chi from.
This is the seat of 72,
000 nadis or energy pathways.
And in both Japanese and Chinese medicine,
It holds a special purpose,
Tan den or tan tien,
Where a martial artist will gather their energy from.
I want you to sit in this center and really cultivate your energy.
So your prana is from this center.
This is our center in yoga of willpower and strength and confidence.
So I want you to gather all your chi at this point,
Your confidence,
Your will and your strength.
And a martial artist will learn to fight from this region.
Yoga is the way of the peaceful warrior,
As is Buddhism.
So we must be firm and strong.
As Brené Brown research shows us,
The most compassionate people have very strong boundaries.
So I want you to gather your strength here by literally just breathing to this area.
And I want you to repeat your sankalpa.
Feel it in your heart,
In your body.
And know that it's starting to happen in this very moment as you breathe energy into your center.
And I want you to have deep,
Deep strength and power emanating from this place.
And know that your sankalpa,
The moment that you begin,
Is starting to unfold.
Now we must learn to create our sankalpa on a regular moment to moment basis.
So see that you are having this sankalpa unfold in your mind's eye,
Feeling it in your body and having the confidence,
Strength and willpower and boundaries,
Compassionate boundaries that allow this to unfold.
Have great faith,
Shudder in your ability and know that the moment that you start to elicit not only the relaxation response,
But our intention to be calmer,
Better,
Kinder,
More compassionate,
Stronger,
That we allow virtuous,
Karmic cycles to unfold.
The moment we elicit the relaxation response,
We create major epigenetic changes,
Flipping the switch on the genes that affect disease,
Changing cycles,
Changing the brain,
Affecting the body through psycho neuroendocrine immunology,
And affecting life choices and the people around us.
Really have faith in your ability to create strength and power from intent,
Positive intent,
That leads you towards your goal.
May you be happy,
May you be strong,
May you be compassionate,
And may you know the power of the mind,
The power of your intent,
Through the body.
May you be free.
