Welcome.
Welcome to Meditations for Healing Chronic Fatigue.
My name is Celia Roberts and I'm the founder of the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation.
Let's begin our practice.
Bring your attention fully into the softness of your belly and observe the rise and the fall of the belly with your breath.
Really allow the out-breath to become gentle and passive and the out-breath to be longer than the in-breath.
If it's possible,
See if you can move to the part of your body and practice mindful awareness of where you feel tired,
Where you feel the fatigue.
And move right into this area of the body.
See if you can observe the very source of the fatigue in the body.
Sit mindfully in this place in your body with gentle acceptance and kindness.
If you're unable to source that sense of fatigue,
Just come to the heart space,
The sternum,
The centre of the chest.
If you can,
Now take your attention back to the time when you started to feel the fatigue.
I want you to observe,
If you can,
Any shock or trauma or difficulty around this time that actually made you feel deeply exhausted.
Sometimes our body shuts down,
Taking us to a place of dissociation,
Or shut down to just conserve,
Conserve all our resources in the face of stress or major difficulty.
So I want you to go back to this time perhaps that you can pinpoint,
The time in your life where you faced this shock or trauma or major difficulty,
And offer yourself deep compassion,
Deep care,
And hold yourself ever so gently with loving kindness.
And as you go back to this time as your older and wiser self,
I want you as this older,
Wiser self to offer yourself some advice,
Your younger self.
What is it that you say or you're doing?
What is it the advice that you give?
How do you care for this person who went through this shock,
This trauma,
This difficulty,
This time that created fatigue?
And perhaps you can't pinpoint an actual time,
But just that time where the fatigue started to settle in.
I want you as your older,
Wiser self to really offer that gentle advice to this younger version of you.
What is it that you say and you do?
How do you speak with your eyes?
What's your tone of voice?
How do you care for yourself?
What's the advice that you give?
Now I want you to really take heed of that advice.
How are you going to listen to that advice now in your present moment life?
There's some part of you that really knows how to hear,
How to care,
How to provide compassion for yourself.
And so that advice that was given to you,
How could you implement that in your daily life?
I'm sure it's gentle,
Soft,
Soft advice,
Soft tones of voice,
Compassionate voice.
Come back to the belly breath.
And then come into the heart space.
Soft belly,
Soft heart.
And offer yourself a wave of compassion and loving kindness.
Let this spread through each cell in the body.
The eyes,
The face,
The lips,
The mouth,
The scalp,
The spine,
The heart,
The arms,
The hands,
The fingers,
The belly,
The back,
The glutes,
The buttocks,
The thighs,
The knees,
The feet.
Let the whole body embody a sense of peace and compassion,
Healing and care.
And really care for yourself now with that beautiful advice.
Those same eyes,
That touch,
That advice that you gave yourself.
And know that by following your own wisdom,
Your softness,
Your gentle touch,
Your compassion,
You will be well.
