Meditation Begin the meditation by observing your breathing and slowly become aware of the impermanence of your breath.
Each breath is different from the one that came before it and is different from the one that comes after it.
You are breathing in different air with each breath and your body is changing with each breath.
In each moment,
With each breath,
There is change,
Flux and flow.
Be aware of the movement that is going on each moment,
The beating of your heart,
The flow of your blood and the energy of your nerve impulses.
Then turn to your mind.
It too is composed of many parts,
Thoughts,
Perceptions,
Feelings,
Memories,
Images that follow one after the other.
Spend a few moments simply observing the ever-changing flow of experiences in mind.
Don't cling to anything that you see in your mind.
Don't judge or have an inner dialogue.
Just observe and get a sense of the impermanence,
An ever-changing nature of mind.
After reflecting on the impermanence of our inner world,
Your own body and mind extend your awareness to the outer world.
Think about your immediate surroundings,
The cushion or mat,
The floor,
The walls,
The room you are sitting in.
Consider that each of these things,
Although appearing solid,
In merely an illusion,
Nothing states the same without changing.
Cultivate a mind that knows that it is unrealistic and self-defeating to cling to things as though they were permanent.
Whatever is beautiful and pleasing will change and eventually disappear,
So we can't expect it to give us lasting happiness.
Also,
Whatever is unpleasant or disturbing won't last forever.
May peace be with you.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
