Hello and welcome to this Rise to Shine meditation.

I'm Becks Thompson and thank you for allowing me to be your guide here today.

I invite you now to find a comfortable position either sitting up or laying down and just begin to relax your body,

Relax your mind.

Before we get into our meditation here today I will first of all set our intention.

Our intention for today is to strengthen our emotional resilience.

Many of us have grown up being taught unhelpful strategies for dealing with our emotions.

For some of us we may not have been taught any strategies at all.

Some of us have grown up learning to disconnect to what we really feel.

So when something good or bad happens we feel numb to what is really occurring.

Others of us bottle things up.

We bottle things up so much that we eventually erupt or we overreact to situations.

So in today's meditation we look to level the playing field.

We will connect in and cultivate this quality of our emotional resilience.

Knowing that emotions aren't actually a bad thing as many of us perceive them to be.

We just have to know how to use them properly and when we know how to use them properly this really helps us in challenging and uncertain times.

It will help us to respond in stressful circumstances from a place of peace,

Calmness and clarity.

This way you are more likely to stay on track with your desired way of living.

So let's begin our meditation now and just check in making sure that you are comfortable and as you settle in just check in with your breath.

Just observing if your breath is shallow or deep.

Observing without any judgement.

Just start to slow down your breath.

And as you slow down your breath feeling yourself more and more relaxed.

With each breath in and each breath out just allow feelings of complete ease and total comfort to wash through your body.

Allowing for a deeper feeling of complete relaxation with every breath in and every breath out.

Now just allow your breath to relax and normalise.

Notice and observe any sensations you feel in your body.

Notice how your body may have shifted as you slowed your breath down.

Perhaps you have allowed relaxation to spread through your entire body as your body feels completely at ease.

Check in to see how your body has loosened.

See how your muscles have softened as you completely let go.

Really melting into the surface below you.

Knowing that you are 100% supported as you really let go.

And as you relax even deeper just taking a moment to acknowledge yourself acknowledging yourself for taking this time to practice here today.

And know that as you practice allowing yourself to enter a more calm,

A more relaxed state you are growing this muscle in your mind.

The strength you are growing from this muscle will serve you in your everyday life.

You will notice the calmness and peacefulness that you feel and it comes more easily to you.

It is a skill that you are strengthening every time you practice and I am so glad that we are practicing here today.

Now take a moment to scan your body for seeing if there are any areas that need to let go of that last bit of tension.

Start up at the top of your head just imagining a light above your head as you bring your awareness here.

Allow your muscles to really let go.

Feel this light scanning down through your head.

Feeling so light now.

Your jaw and your facial muscles completely let go.

Feeling so light that your head may even feel like it's floating,

Like it's been cradled by an invisible supportive force.

Feel this light moving down your body,

Down your neck,

Down your shoulders,

Allowing any tension to go with every breath you take.

Feeling that light relaxing in your back and feeling any residual tension simply melting away.

That light moves down through your belly and your core and you are aware of the gentle movement of your breath.

Feeling your belly rise and fall.

You are breathing with total grace and comfort.

Feeling that light move through your hips and your hips now feeling so limp,

So heavy as they completely let go.

Feeling the light move through your arms and your legs scanning,

Relaxing these areas,

Allowing any last bit of tension to gently drift and exit out of your hands and your feet.

Noticing how comfortable you are in this space.

Totally relaxed,

Completely at ease and totally open.

Imagine in your mind's eye now,

In front of you lays a beautiful shimmering lake of crystal clear water,

A lake of perfect stillness.

The lake is filled with pure spring water and you notice how the water is perfectly still,

Just like a mirror free from even the slightest ripple.

Up ahead you see a boat ramp that leads out across the lake.

So you decide to walk along the wooden boardwalk and as you approach the end of it,

You notice there is a ladder with five steps leading down into the still calm lake.

You decide to take a dip in this magical lake.

So you take the first step down,

Down into the lake,

Noticing the trees around you emotionless.

As each moment passes,

The world around you becomes more and more calm and you yourself become more and more still.

You lower yourself down onto the second step and feel the coolness of the water on your body.

Another step down to the third step and the wildlife around you becomes very quiet.

Everything is still and there is a deeper silence.

You take the fourth step,

Really beginning to immerse your body now and finally the last fifth step.

You feel yourself gliding into the water,

Into a deep state of relaxation in this lake.

Your thoughts all melt away,

All still,

All silent.

You decide to dive down into the lake,

Immersing your full body,

Your head down into the water.

As you go under,

You realise that you are able to breathe normally and naturally under the water.

You are under the surface level and realise there is a whole other world deep below the surface.

We usually only look at the surface level,

Yet there is so much going on underneath the surface which often gets forgotten.

Yet it's from the space of underneath that dictates what happens on the surface.

At this time you are enjoying the solitude,

Enjoying the stillness,

Enjoying the peace and calm in this lake of stillness.

Your body,

Your mind enter a state of total tranquility.

Taking a moment to just soak in the stillness,

The peace that you see around you.

Knowing that when you are calm,

When you have inner peace,

It is so much easier to see things in a positive way.

From the space you are able to make decisions with more clarity and more aligned perspective.

Now just allow yourself to move out of the space of judgement.

Allow yourself to move into a state of contemplation as you really continue relaxing even deeper.

You are beginning to accept that life brings us the unique set of circumstances that we need in order to grow,

In order to learn from.

As you lay here in your beautiful still lake,

You hear a boat off in the distance.

The boat begins coming closer and closer.

No doubt some friends enjoying some special time together.

And although you are totally safe in this moment,

The water around you begins to move.

It begins to move more rapidly as this boat disturbs the stillness of the lake.

As you start to feel the current and the rapids of the water moving all around you,

Pulling and pushing you in different directions,

You realise you have no control on what is happening around you.

You see a rock,

A place where you can anchor yourself for the time being.

Just allowing you to ride the roughness of the water,

Waiting for it to pass through.

And although the still lake has been disturbed,

You can still connect to its peace.

You are learning to stay calm,

To stay centred when things get tense.

You are learning to soothe yourself in these stressful moments,

Realising there is no point reacting to what you cannot control.

And even when you are deep,

Deep down into the stillness of the lake,

Know that you cannot control when the ripples will come.

But it is inevitable that they will come.

The more we allow ourselves to connect to this space,

The better we can handle the external world.

When we deal with the ripples,

The storms of our life from this space,

It allows us to carry on as if this stressful event never occurred.

And finally the roughness and the ripples begin to subside.

You realise you no longer need to carry the burden in your mind.

You are learning to observe rather than react.

You can observe the mind enough to notice when a challenging experience is upon us.

At this time we can simply tune into our breath as we practise today,

Allowing us to connect to the presence of our body.

When we do this,

This is when we can learn to stay calm even when things are tense.

We can learn to soothe ourselves in these stressful moments and now just know and trust that you are growing your emotional range,

Your resilience.

Just let these words sink in,

Sink into the deepest parts of your body as you soak in the still waters.

I connect with my peace,

With my inner calm in difficult times and although I may make mistakes,

I am always compassionate towards myself.

I accept that emotional responses I have are feedback directly from my soul.

So I let my feelings guide me rather than rule me.

I observe them,

I acknowledge them and I seek to understand them.

I learn and I grow from my struggles.

I accept my learnings with grace and with gratitude.

Although I cannot control all of life's situations in the external world around me,

I understand I always have a choice on how I respond.

I practise building my mind muscles,

My strength and my ability to stay calm,

Clear and patient.

And now just allow yourself to bring your awareness back to the lake.

Within you,

You feel a deep sense of resilience rising up,

Feeling deeply at ease as these words soak in.

You now feel so much stronger in your emotional resilience.

You now have everything that you need here today and it's time to begin your journey back home.

So you swim back up to the surface of the lake.

As your head rises above,

You are reminded how different the surface is to the world that lays underneath.

You spot the ladder and slowly begin to climb back up that ladder.

And now as you climb back up,

I will count you back into the room.

Five,

Your foot touches the lower step and you notice how wonderful your body feels.

You feel so clear and happy.

Four,

Feeling calm,

Feeling safe.

Three,

You step up onto the third step,

Beginning to notice the external world,

The noises,

The scenery as you rise out of the water.

Two,

Feeling that breeze back on your face,

Knowing that you have cultivated a strong emotional resilience here today.

Your journey today is effortless and calm,

Like all the moments in your life,

Effortless and calm.

One,

Back to the here and now,

Becoming aware of your physical sensations once again,

Wiggling your fingers and wiggling your toes,

Noticing any sounds around you,

Taking a nice deep breath.

And only when you're ready,

Fluttering your beautiful eyes awake,

Coming back to full awareness with a full sense of emotional resilience.

In today's meditation,

We have really grown our emotional resilience and our confidence to stay calm,

Centred and peaceful,

No matter what is going on around us in our external world.

I thank you for practicing with me here today.

I hope you have a calm and present day.

Namaste.
