Change can be challenging whether the transition is major like a bereavement, a job loss, a breakup, or whether it’s a change to your routine, a new place to stay perhaps, a new job, or meeting new people. Whether the transition is big or small for many of us it can make us feel ungrounded, anxious, and apprehensive. This short meditation uses breath awareness and grounding practices to create a safe container for you to navigate change mindfully and with hopefully less anxiety and apprehension.

Come into a comfortable seat.

Feel the energy of the earth rise up within you.

Breathe in slowly.

Breathe out slowly.

Breathe in the earth.

Breathe out the earth.

Breathe in the air.

Breathe out the air.

Stay with this breath pattern.

Breathing in.

Breathing out.

Slowly.

Slowly.

Take time to slow your breath.

Slow down time.

We're always so busy.

It feels like there is no time just to be.

Just to rest in the breath.

So take this moment just to breathe and feel the ground support you and hold you as you practice.

Transitioning can be challenging.

Whether the transition is major like a bereavement,

A job loss,

A breakup whether it's a change to your routine,

A new place to stay perhaps,

A new job or meeting new people.

Whether the transition is big or small for many of us it can make us feel ungrounded,

Anxious and apprehensive.

Change challenges us.

But if there is one thing certain in this life it's that change will happen.

People,

Places and events will flow in and out of our lives.

Staying present.

Staying grounded.

Staying with the breath is our life raft to navigate the waves,

The storms,

The rain,

The wind,

The heat,

The cold,

The sunrises,

Sunsets and the changes happening.

Staying awake.

Staying present.

Coming back to the breath now.

Inhale slowly.

Exhale slowly.

Inhale the earth.

Exhale the earth.

Inhale the air.

Exhale the air.

Continue with your breath for a few minutes.

If you find your mind wandering that's perfectly normal.

Just come back,

Place your hands on the earth and come back to the breath.

The earth and our breath are always there to support us,

To hold us,

To catch us.

Deepening the breath now.

Inhaling slowly.

Exhale slowly.

Inhale the earth.

Exhale the earth.

Exhale the earth.

Inhale the air.

Exhale the air.

Remembering that transitions and change are a natural part of life.

And remembering we can make these transitions easier to navigate by learning to surrender to the ebb and flow.

As we learn to trust and to stay present we can feel the earth and the breath supporting us.

They are here for us.

Just know you can come back to this meditation any time you feel unsettled or anxious about change.

For our final breaths together,

Take a moment to be grateful for the practice,

For our teachers and our own inner teacher that guides us through this beautiful life.

Namaste.
