For Parents: This guided mindfulness meditation is for the voice inside that wonders, Did I do the right thing? or Did I mess this up? It gently helps you turn toward those doubts with compassion, grounding you in your breath and your humanity. Parenting is full of imperfect moments, and you are allowed to forgive yourself for the ones that hurt. With each breath, you can soften shame and return to love. Contributor: Music of Wisdom

Transcript

Begin by finding a comfortable place to sit with your body supported and your hands relaxed in your lap.

Close your eyes if it feels right and take a deep breath in through your nose,

Exhale slowly through your mouth,

And then release any effort.

Feel your breath,

Steady and calming,

With each inhale,

Feel yourself more grounded.

With each exhale,

Letting go of any tension in your body.

Breathing in,

I am here in this moment.

Breathing out,

I let go.

Breathing out,

Releasing the tension from my body.

Let's take a moment and listen to three sounds of the bell while you connect to your breathing.

Now,

Bring awareness to your heart,

The part of you that is deeply invested in doing what's best for your child.

Connect to the part of you that has limitless love for your child and you want to make the best choices for them.

It's ok to acknowledge that you don't have all the answers.

Recognize that you are only human and that part of being human is that we all make mistakes.

It's how we learn and grow.

See the connection you have to all of humanity in this way that humans learn the inherent nature of making mistakes.

And then trying again.

Breathing in,

I know that I am human and humans make mistakes.

Breathing out,

I know that I am not a mistake even if my actions are mistakes.

Seeing this nature of imperfection,

See if you can allow yourself room to make mistakes with compassion and kindness toward yourself.

What kind words do you say to a child when they make mistakes?

Something like,

It's ok,

You tried hard,

You can try again,

It's ok,

We all make mistakes.

Breathing in,

I give myself permission to make mistakes.

Breathing out,

I release the need for perfection.

Breathing in,

I trust that I am enough.

Breathing out,

I trust that I am doing my best.

Take a moment to sit in the quiet of this truth.

You are enough.

Your love,

Your effort,

Your presence,

That is all that truly matters.

Even in your mistakes,

You are growing and becoming.

When you are ready,

Take another deep breath in and slowly exhale,

Releasing any lingering tension.

When you are ready,

Open your eyes gently,

Bringing this peace and acceptance with you.

Remember,

Making mistakes do not take away from the love and care you give to your child.

You are enough,

Just as you are.
