Welcome to this somatic practice that takes you on a journey to tap into your own inner wisdom the wisdom that lives in your own system in the meeting place between body,

Heart and mind.

This practice is best done standing or sitting down to allow for some movement in the body.

However,

Please feel free to adapt this practice so it meets the needs of your body in this moment.

Take a moment to arrive with yourself as an embodied being.

Bring your awareness to the breath and the places where your body is being moved by the inhalation and the exhalation.

Your nose,

Your chest,

Your ribs and your belly.

And notice your contact with the ground under your feet,

Under your body.

See if you can let the weight of the body release a little bit more.

Instead of holding yourself up let yourself be held.

And start to bring your attention from the outside inwards from the outer edges of the body towards the inside,

The inner landscape of the body the landscape of sensations.

And sense the places where you can feel your skin perhaps on your face or where your clothes touch your body.

And then move inwards through the layers noticing the inside of your mouth,

Your throat sensing into your chest noticing what your belly feels like dropping your attention into the bowl of your hips and the inside of your legs.

Can you feel your whole body from the inside?

Notice where your attention is drawn in this moment.

And then bring to your mind a moment when you are really enjoying yourself when you felt at ease and good in yourself.

Bring this moment alive in your body,

In your being,

In your memory right now.

Savor the experience once more and then let it go.

And then bring into your awareness a place that you really love.

Might be a place in your home or your favorite place to go to a place that you've only been once or a place you keep returning to,

Perhaps on your holidays.

Recall in your body now how it feels to be in this place.

Bring this place alive through all your senses sights sounds smells tastes and textures and then let that go.

Now think of a time when someone you know really appreciated you when who you are was received and acknowledged and met by this other person.

Recall the feeling of this now in all the details you can evoke in your body,

In your mind,

In your heart.

And then let that go.

Bring to mind a person who inspires you a person you deeply respect someone who embodies wisdom or a quality of being that you value a person that you see as a good teacher.

Imagine them being present with you right now.

And picture them in your mind's eye with a student next to them maybe the student is you or another person.

Take a deep in-breath and then physically step or move into this place of the teacher by shifting your position.

See if you can inhabit this place of the teacher.

Find the posture that embodies the qualities of this person that you know and admire and respect.

Give yourself a few moments to really let this feeling of the quality of this teacher develop inside of your own body.

Notice what changes in your posture.

And then find a gesture with your hands or your whole body that expresses the quality that you love or that inspires you.

Now take a step out of this role or move your body slightly to shift over into the place of the student that you imagined alongside the teacher.

Again take a moment here to feel what this place is like how this place shapes you.

Find a gesture that expresses the qualities of this place of this role.

Again it may be through your hands or with your whole body.

And then once more step back into the place and into the embodiment of the teacher.

Find your posture and gesture in this place again.

Listen for any subtle adjustments that may be needed.

Now allow yourself to move backwards and forwards between these two places,

These two roles their postures and their gestures.

Taking time in each place to listen through the body to notice what happens.

More and more allowing the movement backwards and forwards to be a smooth transition from one gesture and posture to the other like a dance.

Finding a kind of flow between the two places.

Allow the gestures to meet and move and mingle until they evolve and settle into a third posture or gesture.

Really allow yourself time for this to arise naturally.

No need to push or force anything.

And then take some moments here in this third place sensing to see if there's a word that expresses the quality of this new place.

Staying with this experience,

Stand up if you're not already standing and slowly turn your body until you find the direction that most agrees with it.

Then take a few steps in that direction,

Mindfully,

Slowly.

Notice what you notice about this journey.

Pay attention to what interests or attracts you as you move in this direction.

What impulses arise for movement.

And allow this experience to be a whole being experience.

So maybe images arise or a word,

A sound,

A song or a dance.

Let yourself explore freely what happens from this place.

Where are you moving towards in the outer space and in your inner landscape?

You can follow your impulses,

The flow that arises from this place for as long as you like,

So you could even pause the recording here for a while.

And when you feel complete and settled you might like to write or draw or note this down in some way.

The journey that you've taken,

The insights you gathered along the way.

Maybe there's a word or a metaphor that expresses the essence of it.

Imagine how this quality that you arrived at might be useful for you today or more generally in your life.

And as you move on into your day see if you can keep this energy,

This quality alive in you for as long as it feels useful.
