Welcome to this meditation on trusting in your own knowing,
In your own seership in the intuition which lives within you.
We're here to listen to the wisdom within,
To listen to the good guidance that we each have within us.
It starts out with a spoken section exploring this inner knowing,
And then we'll go into a guided practice where we still and settle and listen for that small voice within us and the good guidance that it gives.
So get comfortable,
Soften your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Rest down,
Drop down and settle in.
We all have a knowing,
A gnosis within us.
We have inner good guidance.
Sometimes we can sort of know what is going to happen in some strange way we can't really explain.
Our ordinary bodies are absolutely extraordinary.
Sometimes they can pick up on things,
They can give us good guidance.
We can literally trust our gut to inform us.
We can sense things,
Have intuitive hits that inform our life in wise ways.
We have an inner GPS that can give us directions way better than anything Google Maps or on a screen can ever do.
Something within us knows what we need,
Knows what the next step or the next turn on the path should be,
And knows that that will help us reach our destination.
And yet often this knowing gets lost in mind and anxiety and worry and the noise of the world.
We can get so caught up in our heads.
Should I do this?
Can I plan that?
All the energy raises up to our mind.
The mind is a useful thing and it is wise to be thoughtful and to consider options.
And yet our bones and our belly and our skin and our soul can sometimes give us better guidance than the mind ever can with all of its doing and throwing.
I think that we all have this knowing deep within us that our inner reckoning is reliable,
That we can come to rely on it,
To trust in this intuition or inner tuition.
I think it's also true to say that this knowing is rarely immense or intense.
I don't think that our inner guidance often gives us huge billboards with what to do.
Often the signs are subtle.
The knowing is quiet.
The intuitive guidance can only happen when we slow down some and still.
Yet I trust that this inner knowing is reliable.
I think at many times many of us have overridden our own knowing.
We've gone ahead with something sometimes when our gut says no.
We've sort of denied reality because we wanted it to be different or we wanted the shiny thing or the person looked great or the opportunity looked amazing.
Sometimes there's that sort of no don't do it and only in hindsight can we see that perhaps we should.
We don't know and we can't know if life could have gone differently.
But what I do know is that when I and I think when we follow that good guidance within each of us,
It does speak to us truly.
It does offer us wise ways.
Something in us has got our own back,
Knows a good way forward,
Can fathom out our own next steps.
We need to learn to trust ourselves,
To listen to ourselves,
To listen in and to drop down.
So let's practice right now.
Take a big breath in and sigh it out.
And another.
Close your eyes if it feels comfortable to do so.
Turn your attention towards the inner world.
Turn away from sight and looking outwards and towards your inner sight.
We'll start with feeling the surface of our body.
The skin that surrounds us.
We don't often start with our skin in meditation practice.
But feel this layer,
This outer layer of your body.
The semi-permeable membrane between you and the world.
We get goosebumps on our skin when we hear truth.
Our skin contains us,
The essence of us.
We live within our own skin.
It's where we meet the world.
So feel this boundary of you.
And then drop a little deeper.
Drop into the physicality of having a body.
Feel the muscles that make up your body.
Your forearms.
Your biceps.
Your shoulders.
Feel the back of your body.
The width of your ribs as you breathe.
Your belly.
The bowl of your pelvis.
Your thighs.
Your calves.
Your feet.
Feel the flash of your form.
Our inner knowing arises from within.
So if we want to hear our own guidance,
We have to come to listen into our own body.
To the sensations that arise within us.
There's that saying,
Trust your gut.
And we all sort of know what it means.
Like,
Trust that intuitive hit.
Trust that knowing.
Trust that sense.
Yeah,
I don't know about you.
I can't feel my own gut.
But I can feel my muscles.
As I move and stretch and come into my body,
Become more embodied,
I can feel more of myself.
So as we bring our energy inwards,
We're more available to hear truth.
To sense truth.
Practice simply being present with the sensations inside of you.
The breathing,
The strange tingles,
The literal somatic feels of having feelings and emotions.
Come in closer to yourself.
And underneath the muscles,
Bring to mind the bones that you have.
Don't think we can literally feel our own bones.
But we know that they're there.
We have a skeleton.
A pelvis,
A ribcage,
A skull,
A spine.
Bones in our feet and our hands and our legs and our arms.
Bones that will remain after we've gone.
There is something at the core of us.
Folks also say,
I just kind of knew it in my bones.
Acknowledge that you're sitting here,
A human being,
With muscles and matter,
With bones and blood.
And see if you can quieten down even more.
And into this open space,
Invite your knowing in.
Invite your good guidance in.
Invite your intuition in.
And we'll sit quietly for a few minutes and see what arises.
Here I am,
Making space for my own knowing.
The way for the still,
Small voice within me.
Learning to listen to myself.
I am pausing to be present and seeing what may arise.
Know that you don't have to get your mind involved in this.
This knowing,
This wisdom,
This seership tends to speak clear and true.
It speaks to us in hunches and hints and intuitive hits.
It rarely gives the details,
The permutations,
The steps,
The assembly.
It just gives you a nudge in the right direction.
It tells you that one next step.
If we trust it,
It is robust and reliable.
You do not have to go looking or hunting or doing to find this intuition.
You simply have to sit still and see what arises and be ready to receive.
So thank your inner knowing.
As you begin to land back into the room in which you're sitting.
To bring your energy from deep inside towards meeting the outer world.
Have a stretch and a yaw.
See what harvest came from sitting still.
Trust in the timing of these things.
Trust that change does come and a knowing gives us good guidance.
Trust in what gets spoken into the space.
Trust in what arises in the space.
Thank your belly,
Your body and your bones.
Thank the core of you.
Thank the magic and the mystery behind it all.
I have no idea how intuition works.
But somewhere between us and the world,
We get to know things.
We get given guidance.
There is magic,
There is mystery.
And I do think it gives us guidance towards a more gracious life,
Towards a more spacious life,
Towards sweetness and happiness and wholeness.
So thank that part of you.
Promise to make more space for it,
To listen into it,
To let it speak.
Thank yourself,
Thank the mystery.
Thank life.
And go forth and commit to listening more,
To letting life lead a little more.
To being in partnership with this wisdom,
With this knowing.
Trust that you've got this and life has got you.
Be well,
Dear one.
Thank you for your practice,
For your listening,
For your deepening,
For your dropping.
Grateful to be in this community with you and wishing you a beautiful day.
