Recenter yourself in the present moment with your breath. Let go of the overthinking about the past or the anxiety of the future. This meditation is perfect for a beginner or if you are reestablishing your meditation practice. A gentle reminder to notice thoughts without judgement. We can be aware of our thoughts without allowing them to take over.

Hello friend,

Welcome to what might be one of your very first meditations,

Or maybe not.

Maybe you're finding your practice again after an unintended meditation hiatus.

As you settle in and begin to make yourself comfortable,

Just know that you're exactly where you're meant to be.

It's okay to be just as you are in this moment.

Welcome that first deep breath in and that first release.

Welcome yourself home.

Another deep breath in and let it go.

Choosing to close your eyelids gently or hold a soft gaze.

Your eyelids relax.

Your cheekbones soften,

Your jaw,

Shoulders gently down and back,

Maybe giving them a Shrug in a roll back and down again to release tension.

Arms and hands are relaxed,

Palms facing upward or maybe down if that helps you feel more connected.

Root yourself with one big breath in,

Exhale.

Notice the way that your body feels held by the surface beneath you.

Ask yourself,

Where are your thoughts?

Sometimes all we need is a gentle reminder that the only thing that truly matters is the present moment.

We can start just by noticing.

My friend,

I will tell you that with practice,

Moving from the overthinking of the past or the anxiety of the future,

You will become better at the noticing.

The self-hug journal writes,

We all drift.

Awareness brings us back.

Connect with your present self with a full inhale,

Full exhale.

Your breath is the tool that you carry with you everywhere you go.

Inhale the acceptance,

Exhale all of the what ifs.

Remember that sometimes thoughts are just thoughts.

They don't need to hold any meaning,

They don't need to take over and send us a spiraling into fear or urgency.

If you notice yourself feeling this way,

Just know that it's your brain and your body doing its best to protect you,

So you can say thank you mind,

Thank you body.

Therapist Kimberly Quinlan writes,

You don't need to get rid of thoughts to feel better.

Sometimes it's just enough to notice.

Whisper to yourself,

Either inside or out loud.

My mind is just busy because it cares about me.

There is nothing to be afraid of,

Nothing is urgent.

There is nothing to be afraid of,

Nothing is urgent.

I can trust the unfolding of my day and still feel grounded just by returning to my breath.

I can trust the unfolding of my day and still feel grounded just by returning to my breath.

Feel the air moving in.

Take your time again to notice.

Where are your thoughts?

The noticing,

The awareness,

The acceptance.

Always coming back to your breath.

My friend,

This is the practice.

Allow gratitude for this moment with yourself to wrap you up.

As you take a deep breath in,

Wiggling your fingers and toes,

Turning your wrists and your ankles,

Feeling the air on your skin,

The surface beneath you,

Maybe giving those shoulders another scrunch and roll back,

Waking them up.

I hope that the rest of your day is full of connection,

Trust and enjoying the now.

Remember that the tool of your breath is always with you.

You can trust the unfolding of your day,

You can blink your eyelids open and gift yourself one more connected breath in,

Sending endless love and divine light.

Becky, I truly needed this this morning. Your cadence, your voice, your words — and that song — all flowed together so beautifully and harmoniously. It was exactly what my heart needed. 🤍 Thank you.
