There are times in life where we can look a month,
Two months into the future and we know there will be change.
Maybe we don't know exactly what the change will be,
But sometimes we know what the change is already.
And we can feel a bit of fear as we think about this change that will happen.
Maybe we feel anticipation,
A little anxiety,
A little bit nervous.
Whether the change that's happening is,
For example,
Retiring.
Or maybe a child is leaving home and going off to college.
And you'll be an empty nest here for the first time.
Or maybe the change is a heartbreaking change,
Such as divorce,
Leaving a relationship,
Ending something that's harmful.
Whether it's a job or a relationship with somebody else.
When we know that changes are happening,
That there is something on the horizon that is going to rock our world,
It's important to take care of ourselves before we reach that moment.
So take a moment to find a comfortable seat.
We can find refuge in meditation.
Feel your skull centered over your rib cage,
Centered over your hips.
And feel your body settling into your foundation,
Into your chair,
Into your cushion.
And for the next minute,
Listening to your breath.
Observe your breath.
Just watching the inhalation and watching the exhalation.
And for the next minute,
Emphasize the exhalation,
Not in a way of becoming inauthentic.
But in a way of letting the exhalation relax.
And then fully coming into your foundation.
Maybe your feet are resting on the ground.
Noticing the pressure of your feet resting on the ground.
Maybe your sit bones,
Your thighs touch the earth,
The cushion.
And then observing,
Witnessing,
Relaxing into this foundation.
Imagine roots like the roots of a tree growing deep into the ground.
And these roots don't keep you stuck in place,
But they move with you when you move.
Visualizing the roots connecting you to the core of the earth.
Knowing that these roots go with you wherever you are.
And these roots keep you grounded,
Centered,
At home in your body no matter what the circumstances are.
Place your right hand on your sternum.
And placing your right hand on your sternum or on your heart.
Send yourself a token of love.
Just a well wish,
May you be happy.
And with your hand on your heart,
Give yourself this token of loving kindness.
May you be happy.
And then place your left hand on your solar plexus.
Placing your left hand on your solar plexus just above the belly button,
Just below the rib cage.
And reaffirm,
I am courageous.
So say to yourself,
I am courageous.
I am strong.
I have dreams.
And I can achieve them.
I will achieve my dreams.
And then slowly letting the eyes open.
Namaste.
